"I wasn't the one forcing you to eat, but it was the other way round." Jacob chuckled. "Anyway, I noticed a lot of men staring at you during dinner. If it wasn't for my presence, I'm sure at least one of them would be hitting on you already."
"Are you suggesting that I should've just kicked you aside?" Irene glanced at him and laughed. "I think I should come out on my own someday and see if anyone hits on me."
"It will happen. But then, you shouldn't leave with them," Jacob said.
"Why can't I?" Irene glared at Jacob. "If you can have that many women with you, why can't I hook up with other men? Your logic is flawed."
"It's not like that. Those men who hit on you will never treat you as good as I do." Jacob laughed. "I can spoil you and cherish you so much that no other men could ever do the same."
"You're right." Irene sighed softly. "I wonder what I did to be entangled with you in this life."
