"Sir, there is no need for formalities," Callie smiled. "I am here merely to extend my gratitude for saving my life. I bear no other intentions."
"Princess, you're too courteous. It was a trifling effort on my part. After all, it is my duty as a physician," Jacob said with a subtle smile.
"Ha-ha, to you saving a life might be a trifling effort, but not to me." Callie stood up, looking at Jacob intently. "I was bedridden for a long time. Although I was unconscious, I was well aware of what was happening around me."
"You could say I was at death's door, with some physicians subtly hinting at my mother to lose hope. Fortunately, my mother didn't heed their words. Hence, they waited for you. In my eyes, sir, you're my life-saving benefactor, and truly my savior," Callie said with a smile.
"Princess, you jest. Perhaps it was our destiny to cross paths," Jacob said with a light smile.
