A complete mess?
The tall, proud young man looked as if he'd been slapped hard across the face. He was completely stunned.
The youth continued speaking, "You're just a form without any essence. If you continue practicing like this, you will end up as a mere craftsman, not a swordsman."
Everyone exchanged puzzled looks, unable to understand the meaning of the young man's words.
The youth, seemingly used to other's obtuseness, was about to explain further when a voice sounded out ahead of him.
"What he means is, you're merely parroting the sword skill of your predecessors without any original thought.
A craftsman merely produces handmade goods, merely needing to memorize and flawlessly reproduce their learned skills is enough.
A swordsman, however, needs to have their understanding of the sword. No matter what kind of sword technique they practice, it's about integrating it into their swordplay, not merely imitating their predecessors.
