After that lucky encounter, I start following the path once more. Though it is a bit harder due to the amount of loot I am carrying, I can still move properly without much burden.
I am still keeping a fair distance from the road for my safety and I walk between the trees instead. I even met a few more purple bunnies on my way beside the path, though thankfully no more of Limpy's kind.
A few more hours later, when the sun is at its peak in the sky, I finally see the faint outline of a town in the distance. I see vague silhouettes of people entering and leaving the presumably bustling town.
Me being me, I first rest up a good distance away from the town, since I don't like my chances of entering a potentially dangerous place after walking for hours straight, I am so tired.
Half an hour of resting and eating the last few of my berries later, and I am now ready to go to my first town. Man I hope the people here are friendly.
As I walk closer and closer to the town, I arrive at the town gates. There are six of what I assume are guards, they give me a glance over, eyes pausing at the golden sword by my hip, before they then ignore me, which is cool because I don't need to explain myself now. They are probably used to travelers, considering the amount of people going in and out. Though I do wonder if they think I'm rich because of my sword.
As I go in, I am greeted by the bustling scene of a market. With lots of vendors yelling about their wares.
"Fresh juicy veggies over here! Come get some of my juicy melons!"
"Clean water for your travels here! With complementary flasks! Come get it now!"
"Hey kid! You want some of these cool magic rings!?"
I am drawn to the magic ring vendor, I look at the rings, the rings do definitely look very gaudy. Too gaudy might I add.
"How much?"
The magic ring vendor flashes a smirk that I almost missed with how quick they managed to contain it. Yep, this is most definitely a scam. I don't know how common magic items are, but they probably shouldn't be sold by a common vendor. He looks at me and I swore his eyes sparkled when he spots my gold sword and the gold ring on my finger.
I look around me and I notice how some of the people are giving me pitying looks. Yep, definitely a scam. Though I do hear the guy out. Maybe he's the real deal, and he only looks shady?
"This ere magic ring will boost your luck, and this ere ring will boost your health for the low low price of five gold coins."
As soon as he said five gold coins, I swore I could've heard someone behind me cough in disbelief. I give the vendor a raised eyebrow, and sure enough, he stammers explanations over what is probably an exorbitant price. He hurriedly explains how magic rings are super hard to find and make.
I stare deadpan at the panicking vendor before I don't even give him the pleasure of interacting more with his scam. I just leave and look for an actual non scam vendor. I can hear him begging for me to not leave but I just ignore the scammer.
As I walk around the market, I see a child running and is about to bump into me. At that moment, I knew what was going to happen, this is probably one of the most cliche plot point whenever an Mc just arrives in a new world. Bro is about to start thieving my stuff. Nah.
I sidestep the kid. This seems to shock the kid, probably surprised at how I managed to figure out his tricks.
"Is everyone in this place either a scammer or a thief? Like bro, I just arrived here, it shouldn't be this easy to meet people like these."
I shake my head in disappointment.
Then, out of the corner of my eye, I see what seems to be a weapon shop, complete with the anvil sign. I head over there and warily look out my surroundings for any more pickpocketing attempts on me.
I arrive at the door of the weapon shop. I see a very massive buff guy manning the counter, like bro is built like a brick house. He gives me a look over, his eyes pausing at the gaudy sword at my hip for a bit before gruffly huffing.
I look over at the racks of weapons mounted on the wall, with shelves of equipment being displayed. There's even an armor stand fitted with a full armor set. I gawk at how cool it looks. Man, I'd look like a medieval knight. Too bad I can't move properly in armor that heavy though. Maybe when I'm stronger, I'll try wearing those.
Roll Gained!
Oh? Cool, I don't know why the system gave me one at this time, but it is appreciated nevertheless. I'll use it later when I'm alone.
I look back at the buff, blacksmith? Buff guys in weapon shops are usually the smiths right? Oh well, he's still staring at me. I should probably actually do trade in this place before I piss him off.
I point at the armor, "How much for that?"
"5 gold". He answers in a deep yet bland voice.
Hmm, is 5 gold a lot? I take out my gold sword and place it on the counter, "How much for this?"
He looks down at the gaudy sword and inspects it, taking it out of its sheath and giving it a thorough examination. "11 gold." He then gruffly says.
Hmm, the actual value is probably due to the golden handle and the gaudy sheath. I should probably change into another sword, preferably the best one, so my gold coins don't just gather dust in my backpack.
"Hmm, how much is your best sword?"
He raises an eyebrow at me before gruffly stating "70 gold."
Wow, that's a lot more expensive than I expected. "Why that expensive?"
"Magic."
Oh? That does sound interesting. I take out 59 gold coins from my backpack and set it beside my gold sword.
"This sword and 59 gold coins should be enough. Now what does your magic sword do?"
He stares at the gold coins and the gold sword on the counter and then on me, before I see him smile for the first time. I guess people really do love their money in this place.
"The sword is enchanted with sharpness thrice over, allowing it to slice through regular iron like a hot knife through butter. As well as a mending enchantment that will allow the sword to repair itself to its peak performance given enough time."
"It's also made with Mithril, a rare and expensive material that allows it to be a conduit to magic as well as boasting as one of the most durable among all other metals." He patiently explains while I boggle at the effects. He also explains how he got this sword from an auction 4 years ago. Man that is overpowered as hell. Though I do understand why no one has bought this until now.
I wonder why the carriage that had the gold coins had so many though? It even had so many other valuables. Maybe it was for the royalty?
I immediately buy it and the blacksmith takes the gold sword and my money before heading into another room behind him. After a while he returns with a wide chest and sets it on the table. He opens it and oh my GOD does it look cool as fuck.
It looks like one of those khopesh swords I saw on the internet. The handle is perfect for one hand but does have space for two hands. It extends from the hilt in a straight line before deviating in an arc form. The blade has a shiny bluish color with a whiter hue along the sharper edges. It looks so cool I might pass out from excitement. The sword even comes with its own sheath!?
The sheath looks simple compared to the coolness of the khopesh, it is a simple khopesh sheath that is ash gray in color. With some designs sprinkled along its length.
I immediately grab the sword and strap it to my hip. Man, I am going to be so overpowered with this.
I also purchased a set of higher quality leather armor for 3 gold since I can't wear the metal ones due to the weight.
The smith thanked me for buying his stuff and I then exited the store looking so dripped out. I see some people gawk at my fit, especially the weird looking sword at my hip.
"I am so definitely going to cut anyone who tries stealing this sword into pieces."
I then head to an alley to open the Roll System so I can use my newly gotten roll.

Description:
A crescent-shaped blade of darksteel alloy, faintly humming when held. Its edge is permanently keen, and the hilt is wrapped in a braided red leather grip that subtly pulses when the wielder feels threatened.
"Man, for a second there I was kinda scared since I thought I was getting another sword. I did NOT want another sword."
"This dagger is great for throwing and distractions which is awesome. Though it is quite odd how this throwing dagger is considered a melee weapon"
"Too bad I didn't get something to fix my squishiness though."
