As we descended, medals hanging around our necks and listening to the national anthem, reporters swarmed in front of us and took pictures. In the case of the 500-meter event, the gold, silver, and bronze medals had all gone to Korean athletes, and so Korean reporters were the only ones there.
There were reporters that I recognized from Media Day at Jincheon, and reporters who’d asked me harsh questions that day I fell in the 1,500-meter, and reporters who’d cried as they asked me questions just yesterday once the relay medal was confirmed. All of the questions regarding the race had been answered yesterday, and now, all that was left was to ask our final thoughts.
