Adonis stood on scorched earth, his sword trembling in hand, breathing ragged.Countless skeletons lay in fragments around him — bone shards buried in the ash-dusted ground, cracked helmets, broken ribcages, and crushed skulls.
His Eclipse robe, battered but intact, began to glow faintly, healing his cuts with its ever-mischievous yet loyal.
But the next wave made his breath catch.
A tide of death surged again—not just skeletons this time, but a mixed formation:
Swift infantry skeletons with daggers and spears,
Towering giant armored skeletons,
And worst of all — skeleton mages, robed and chanting, their bones inscribed with magic runes glowing sickly blue.
And at the center of this macabre orchestra was a mage general, taller than all, wrapped in a tattered black cloak, skeletal fingers clutched around a staff glowing with pulsating dark light. It radiated intelligence.
The undead had grown smarter.
"This is no longer a trial. This is just like war," Adonis muttered, squinting against the rising storm of magic blasts.
Still—he coldly smiled.
His golden eyes ignited.
"I haven't come this far to fall now."
He pulled every sword he had — 25 golden blades spun around him in a fierce spiral, then merged into spinning lines of energy. Sword qi howled as they compressed, forming a rapidly swirling vortex.
"Sword Tornado!"
The attack ripped through the ranks of undead like a hurricane of divine punishment. Skeletons shattered as they were pulled into its golden funnel, magic dissipated mid-air from the cyclone's overwhelming pressure.
Then, without missing a beat, Adonis launched himself into the chaos.
Killing Circle — small scale activated.
Gold flared under his boots as a radiant circle reappeared, slicing and grinding enemies that came close. Every strike was fluid — support barriers blocked incoming spells, while buff spells enhanced his movement and reflexes.
"This... Elora's support magic teaching really changed my whole way of battle…" Adonis muttered between slashes. "Even though I'm not good as her in this."
Finally, he stood face-to-face with the Skeleton Mage General.Adonis struck fast — but the barrier around the lich-like figure held strong.
"Figures," he growled, "This thing is smarter than the rest…"
He considered the Heaven's Judgment, his strongest, most draining move he used in village to destroy the darkness cage and altar.
"But if I collapse after using it here—everyone will laugh their ass off. No thanks."
Just then, his robe shivered.
"Uwu uwu!"
"…You serious?" Adonis blinked. "You're saying this is the dreamland, so even if I collapse, I'll wake up fine?"
"Uwu!" the robe replied firmly.
"Then let's end this with a bang." Adonis grinned
As he launched himself backward, gathering sword qi once more. The energy twisted in the air, drawn into a singularity of blinding brilliance.
The dense Sword energy gathered together slowly taking form.
From it formed a single, towering golden sword, glowing so fiercely that the orange sky cracked with golden fissures. It felt less like a sword and more like a divine edict.
In the evening glow in battlefield, the golden sword light was so intense like a miniature sun, then
Adonis slowly raised his hand — and swung.
BOOOOOOM!!!
The entire battlefield lit like a sun detonating. A sea of light expanded, melting everything it touched.
Undead screamed. The ground cracked. The air shattered. And then —Silence.
Huge dust cloud formed in the battlefield
The army, the general, the land itself — all gone.
Adonis stood swaying, blood leaking from his nose, mouth, and eyes. He coughed a mouthful and dropped to his knees.
"…still… too much for me…"
With a final breath, he exited the dream.
Outside, his eyes opened weakly.
The room was quiet.
He sat up slowly and noticed — his was the last seat occupied. The other 19 students had already finished and stood in waiting.
Some students looked back as Adonis stood up — whispering to themselves.
They didn't see what happened inside. They didn't see the battlefield melt.
But they saw the time.
He had lasted longer than anyone else.
Behind the scenes, in the control room:
Instructor Leena and several other teachers stood in silence, watching the playback of Adonis's trial projected in runic mirrors.
Even the headmistress, sipping tea nearby, paused.
"…What was the last attack?" one instructor whispered, wide-eyed.
Another muttered, "I've never seen someone so young to posses such capability."
The headmistress gently placed her teacup down and looked at the golden afterglow fading in the mirror.
"…That boy's name…""Adonis Drake," Leena answered.
The headmistress leaned back, blue eyes gleaming.
"Interesting…"
Back in the exam hall, Adonis joined the line of waiting students. He said nothing. He smiled at no one.
He simply stood.
And waited.
Because the real results…were still to come.
