Chapter 6, Jet Plane

Kristy started running while dropping cars behind her out of her space on the curb of the road.

"You were right it was only a second" Matty commented while eating.

"You're panting and what is the crashing noise?" Brenda asked.

"Well, when I was in there, I realized I had too many cars in my space. They had started stacking on top of each other so I'm running now to keep the zombies from catching me while I empty the junked cars from my space. Damn it's hard to run and talk." Kristy complained

"Ah stomach cramps, did I eat too much or the younger me was seriously out of shape?" Kristy complained as she dropped cars from her space.

"I don't think a normal fitness routine you use can make up for fighting and running the way you have today. So, you're not out of shape your just not as the boys would call it super Hua." Matty laughed this health nut was complaining of being out of shape? Some would cry to have her health.

"Ahhahaha" Kristy was laughing now while running.

"Ok what's going on?" Brenda was confused first Kristy was bitching now she is laughing.

"The zombies tried to get close to me and I smashed them by dropping a car on their heads. I had not thought of fighting this way." Kristy was still running.

15 minutes later she got back in the truck. "You lovely truck, why did I ever decide it was a good idea to run!"

Richard decided against clearing the zombies that night as he didn't want to split Kristy's attention for their safety and they only had a Glock and one crowbar to kill zombies which they decided to clear once Kristy was on the plane and in the air.

The alarm went off on the phone. "Time to check on the baby I'm going in the space with the phone this time to see if it drops the call ok"

"Ok if the call drops, I'll call you right back." Brenda was nervous for Kristy now and listening to her movements helped her know she was safe.

Kristy hopped in the space and checked on the baby she was still sleeping. "I could use a nap too. you look so comfortable."

Since time would be the same regardless when she went back out Kristy laid down next to the baby to catch a small nap, she figured the baby would wake her up.

Baby did not wake her up. She woke up naturally and saw the little girl looking at the fake sky of the space making spit bubbles.

"Good morning beautiful" Kristy called to her as she picked up the little girl and she wiggled a little. "Space change the dipper." she gave the command to the space instead of touching it this time while the space changed the diaper Kristy made a fresh bottle to feed the baby.

"Baby girl was so sweet and quiet. I wonder if that is because her throat hurts from crying yesterday.'' The baby showed no signs of being uncomfortable though.

Kristy spent a few hours showering the baby with attention till she got tired after 4 hours of stretching her little limbs playing patty cake and eating a lunch bottle. She went down for a nap.

Kristy walked to the river and pulled out dish soap. She washed the dishes in the river. She watched as the dirty soapy water she had rinsed just disappeared. 'The river water will never get dirty great function. Is this part of the remove waste I added? I'm not getting dizzy anymore probably because the tasks are spread out to when they are needed now not all at once.' Thinking of the space using manna to pinpoint each little rabbit turd for a whole day not to mention shit and piss for all those animals made Kristy cringe.

The inventory told her she had five bottles, three that were new from the grocery store and needed washed and two that were in the diaper bag which baby had now used. This is the reason she had to wash dishes so she could feed the baby.

There are many questions she has about her space like she can feel and see on request the inventory list but where is half of it stored? She can't see the frozen in time animals or more than half the things she got from the grocery store or the blocked space that the zombies burn in.

It's like there is an invisible layer to her space that stores the frozen in time perishables. If there is, is there a limit to how much I can put there? How big is it?

I'll look around more thoroughly when I get to my family. It's important for planning.

Kristy hopped in the truck and hopped out of the space. "You there?" Kristy asked Brenda

"Yep, I never left. Was the baby awake?" Brenda asked.

"No, I wound up napping with her because I thought she would wake up soon but she didn't. When I woke up, she was awake and quiet. I just spent four hours playing with her and she went down for her nap.

"What was that. Like eight hours to sleep and four to play. 12 hours in a second." Brenda asked. 'Surprised the timing of Kristy coming back did not even effect the phone connection it was really like she had never left.'

"Yes, this will be very convenient for us later. Taking breaks in fighting zombies." Kristy said "however it is strange, I just woke up and fed baby lunch now I'm here and it's night time. Still the first day of the apocalypse."

Kristy continued down the road putting cars in her inventory and driving forward. She finally found a stretch of road that she could speed up in that wasn't covered in cars.

"You should get a nap in before hunting. I don't think I will face anything I can't handle here." Kristy told Brenda who was now more relaxed about the task Kristy was doing. "I will call you guys when I'm sitting in a plane."

"Ok stay safe." Matty answered.

She drove into the empty stretch of highway and stopped the car to meditate.

Moving large vehicles into her space used a lot of manna from her space core. If she wasn't at such a high level she would be in trouble. She had used more than half her manna.

Unfortunately, she could only meditate for twenty minutes before the stretch of slow-moving zombies that had been following her truck walked into the stretch of highway.

Kristy decided to drop cars on them so she went to her space to loot the new vehicles first. She had found it hilarious when she had done it by accident but right now it is not like she needs to search them for crystal cores so she can just smash them.

Most of what she got from the cars was just the gas in the tank, maybe some candy here and there. People don't keep much of value in their cars.

When she got out of the space she flipped around in the car and drove to the side of the road, she got closer to the zombies. Hopped out of the truck and put it in her space.

She was using the flash light from her phone that was still tucked into her bra to see the zombies better. She was right these level zero zombies are so stupid it was like they were lining up just to get smashed by the cars.

Kristy murmured "Well every zombie now is one less later. Who can blame me if you want to get squished so badly." She needed to deal with them anyway. can't have so many follow her to the air strip she needs the runway to get in the air if the zombies follow her, she might get blocked in.

The zombies would come forward and she would drop a car on them and walk backwards down the outer curb. At least she was keeping the dropped cars off of the road. and dropping them on the curb side so people can drive. You can call her a good Samaritan. Imagine how hard clearing the road would be if you didn't have a space that would fit a car.

This reminded her a bit of whack a mole. "Just step forward to be squished by a car come on you can do it you loud ugly fucks."

She repeated this method of clearing zombies, for a half an hour and squished over a hundred zombies by now. About 8 to 10 per car she dropped on them. they crowded together around the cars she was dropping and kept turning to get close to her she just needed to zigzag as she walked and stop in the center of the lane before backing up a little and the zombies squished into the spot, she wanted to smash them in.

'They would play red light green light pretty well. no wait that is a stop and go game. The zombies are always going what is the game where they have to follow where you are again. I don't remember, I guess it's not important.' Some might have survived and are crawling out from under the car but she is sure a lot of zombie heads were smashed like a watermelon under the weight of the car.

There were growls coming from behind her now and her empty stretch of highway was not so empty any more but the number of zombies following her had decreased a lot. There were around twenty left now.

She walked to the middle of the road and contemplated finishing them off or moving forward. There were two more junk cars to throw from her space but Kristy didn't want to walk backwards into the new zombies in front when her visibility was so bad.

The sound made from dropping cars attracted all the zombies that could hear it. In Fact, the zombies from the other side of the highway kept jumping over the concrete divide so she has technically been clearing both sides of the road.

She is approximately twenty minutes from the air strip now it would have been five minutes in good traffic.

What should have been a 45-minute trip has now taken over seven hours! And with her space this was super-fast this would take others days to clear. And it's not much of the highway.

Kristy decided to fight; she needed practice and there were not many cars on this side of the road. If they gang up, she can drop and pick up the car again. 'Wait, that's a plan, why do I have to leave the junk car when I drop it.'

Thus, she waited till they got close, dropped the car on them and picked the car back up to use as her zombie fly swatter.

In ten minutes, the road was now quiet and very smelly.

Kristy picked up the cars in the way and continued in her truck. She reached the airstrip in fifteen minutes. There were not too many zombies following her. They would not break down the fence and wonder onto the runway so she ignored them. She drove to the gate excited.

It had been over five years since she was here last. She pulled the magnetic id card from her purse and swiped it to open the gate. The zombie security guard banged on the door of the cubical sized guard house trying to reach her.

Lucky her she does not have to wait for him to let her in. She is authorized personnel in the system.

She drove in and the electric gate closed behind her. There were not enough zombies following her to smash through the gate any time soon so the only zombies she needed to deal with were in the private airport.

Kristy had no intention of clearing the whole place just to grab all the jet fuel, a few planes to put in her space of different sizes for maneuverability. Some parachutes for emergencies, and get the hell out of here.

She made a beeline to the jet fuel. And hoped into her space she needed to pick a spot to place her new things and loot the last of the cars she picked up. She was going to leave them at the fuel station. 'Ok maybe she will keep one to smash zombies with.'

It was the fastest robbery in the century. Billions of dollars' worth of jet planes disappeared from the airport in under 30 minutes.

In civilized time with radar stealing a plane was stupid as everyone would know exactly where you are. You could not get away with it but who would be checking now?

Planes have no keys as long as you know how to start it you can fly it. It is take off, landing, and flight patterns that you need training for. The security comes from the airports and the radar system.

However, Zombies don't make good guards, the radar is down, and a lot of planes crashed and burned when the apocalypse hit there are not many piolets in the air to be worried about hitting them. Jet's do move verry fast and the breaks need three miles to slow the plane with the wings. This is why flight charts are so important.

She took a 2000 Gulfstream GV the newer models of this jet fit 16 to 19 people but this version is for 12 people. This jet is a heavy jet made for long distance travel. 6,250 nautical miles. Why pick this jet? It is not too big but has fully reclining seats with arms so the baby won't fall off the makeshift bed. There are also two twin size beds in the back but the baby might roll out of that. A dining area, a small kitchen of course she would need to find a hotplate to plug in as there is no stove but the best part is the bathroom has a shower! This jet's interior is not much bigger than an RV. and like an RV flying this jet can refill the battery. No power outage!

She only had the pick of six different styles of heavy jets. Remember this is not a training jet but one belonging to someone who had their jet parked here for safety. She also took six VLJ's.

A VLJ stands for Very Light Jet. These jets are almost as small as a helicopter known for needing very little space to take off. They can travel at 1,211 nautical miles. They can fit six people.

Kristy chose all jets so she didn't need to switch fuel. There are two main types of fuel for planes and they are all mostly kerosene related, to keep the fuel from freezing while in the air. Specifically, Jet fuel has an additive to keep the engine clean and running at its best. Both fuels will work to fly with but jet fuel is the best. As it is made for this engine.

But since she was already separating the gas from the jet fuel in her space she didn't want to add more to her plate.

Why so many of the same plane? Well zombie birds are a thing and they will be getting stronger and faster too. There is probably only two more years she can fly before the sky is off limits to her again.

The extra planes are so she can switch them out while refueling waiting for the engine to cool or if she needs to take back off immediately, for example her trip to Portland right now. She should fly her heavy jet for that distance but without navigation she is not sure where she would wind up so she needs to get down closer to the road occasionally for directions.

Hence, she will need to stop twice to switch jets so she has a cool engine and full tank of jet fuel. So, she needs to have at least three jets but if birds attack, and parts are broken, or she lands in a not so good area out of necessity and damage is done. Matty will need time to repair those jets, or use what's left of them for spare parts, so she got more.

"It is good to have a mechanic in the apocalypse." she hopped into her space and looked around. The grass paradise was back without all those broken scrapped cars. The Toyoda and her Kia were on one side of the huge lawn. Her beautiful planes were on the other and the animals were closer to the river.

Kristy picked up the sleeping baby who started to open her eyes at the movement.

"Hi beautiful, we have a living space now." with a thought Kristy and the baby were moved into the cabin on the Gulfstream jet.

She took care of and played with the baby. Had some lunch and took a shower! However, she had no clothes to change into so she had the space to clean and dry her old clothes.

"I really need to stop using that function. The fire for heat is pulled from me but the wind is using crystal cores and uncle Richerd needs those too." 'Looting cloths, wood for fences and barns, and solar panels all this can be done in Portland. Time to go.'

Kristy willed herself to the driver's seat of her VLJ, checked the jet for problems, ensured the tank was full and popped out of her space.

Kristy called uncle Richerd. "Are you safe?" He answered the phone.

"I'm in a cockpit so very happy." Kristy responded by turning over the engine for the Jet.

"I will be in the air in three." Kristy told her uncle while pushing the gas for takeoff.

"Good, good. we will call you back when we're ready to go hunting as you call it. we're starting with the noisy growlers in the apartment on the left." Uncle Richerd told Kristy then went to wake the others from their nap. Richerd and Brenda were going to wait for the morning before killing the zombies but the constant banging on the wall from the other apartment was making them stir crazy.

Kristy could barely see the zombies that were coming from the building as she didn't really need to go inside except for some parachutes that were only two rooms in and were empty of zombies. The zombies must have just noticed her.

She smiled. The engine is a little loud but jets are less noisy than a helicopter; they just need more landing and lift space, 2,150ft (600 m) of runway for the small jet to take off and 1,500ft (460m) to land. The jet makes the most noise when taking off and landing. And is quiet enough to fall asleep while flying in the air.

Kristy watched the highway below her and the area she had cleared looked so small from up here. She watched the compass on the dash as she could not trust the navigation system. She Hurd horror stories from some others who had tried to fly when the power was still good but the manna affects things too.

In the beginning the manna affected the waves from the radar, later it will affect the internet, then the phones, then even the powerlines won't flow right. It's not that the power stops. It just does not reach the end of the cord the power gets heavier. She is not a scientist and did not really understand but she knows there will be a need for many more routers for the power to go through to work later.

Humming she aimed north west and took off.

Kristy pulled a soda from her space and started to drink it. The phone started to ring so she answered.

"Ready to go?" Kristy asked.

"It's too dark to get to you right now dear." Jacob responded.

Kristy almost choked on her soda. She wasn't looking at the phone when she answered it.

"But it is good to hear your voice, Kristy. I almost thought you didn't make it." Jacob continued.

'So how do you tell a man you're breaking up with them for cheating on you when they haven't done it yet?'

"Why are you calling me?" Kristy decided to be the bitch.

"Why are you asking why? I was worried!" Jacob sounded upset.

"So worried that it took you 13 hours after the apocalypse to call me once, and didn't try again till now." Kristy threw at him.

"Kristy, don't be like this. I was waiting for a call from you. when I didn't get one, is when I called you. but you didn't answer. Then I hoped you just lost your phone in the chaos. I could feel that you were still alive. I instinctively dialed your number when I was thinking of you. why are you so upset" Jacob was shocked by the anger he was hearing from Kristy, his bubbly fiancé. The girl he has been dating for five years and was going to marry in five months after she graduates.

They had been saving and planning for the wedding for the last six months.

Kristy lost her rationality when he asked why she was so upset. "Why are you sleeping with Jessica if you love me!" it came out before she could think 'he wasn't doing it yet right?'

"Shit Kristy we only did it twice. It was just physical, I love you!" Jacob was tripping over his words now.

Kristy was shocked. They started before the apocalypse! "You betrayed me. She betrayed me."

"Kristy, Kristy it's ok we love each other. It's the end of the world. I got superpowers. I will protect you forever love we can get through this." Jacob pleaded over the phone.

"Jacob, I got powers too, I'm safe." Kristy decided she never wanted to see them again but she may need to come back in the future for that level six time crystal. And Jacob was in charge of the supplies.

'Maybe it would be better to cut clean and ask for a favor in the future.'

"I am in the cockpit of a jet headed to Portland, where I belong, with the rest of my family that survived." 'Might as well tell him not to look for me I'm too far away but I'm safe don't worry I'll be back for my crystal in the future.'

Kristy took a breath "Where over Jacob, take care of Jessica, Stay safe." 'So, you can pay me back from all the shit you put me through with a level six time crystal.' Kristy added the last part in her head. Then she hung up the phone.
