Yuhe staggered when she asked him to accompany her on the massive helicopter. It's not everyday a beautiful women in her early 30's asked a young man to come home with her. Of course that's is far from what actually happened and she was simply following procedure but Yuhe chose to ignore that information.
The main issue was that he needed to get his story straight. When the girl asked him about what just happened he kept stumbling his words and not having complete sentences come out. Partly because he knew he has to hide some things simply because of the mass panic that would happen and also because he was still shell-shocked and terrified that if he mentioned or thought about that deadly demon he might come back. Like how an animal can tell when something is looking at it, he might have the power to tell when someone is even thinking about it. And that wouldn't even be the craziest thing in the world!
"Uhh yeah sure, just let me pack up some things really quick. Uhm make yourself comfortable in the mean time." Yuhe said while slowly backing up and walking away, even though he was akin mouse that lived in someone else's home, he still had a few belongings.
"Yeah no. Your coming now or never and I'm making that choice for you." The major smiled deceptively.

It's been around 6 hours since the portal opened and the demon came out -and was frankly closed right after-, and Yuhe still had that experience fresh in his mind. For the life of him he couldn't seem to be able to get it across that a simple wolf came from the portal and got beaten by him and the gangsters, and then chased by those gangsters while he stayed behind. Now that he thought it outloud it did seem a bit outlandish. As he was thinking this the major sitting next to him inside the massive green cargo helicopter started to open her mouth.
"So let me get this straight, for the last time you swear on anything and everything that you... beat up a wolf, that came alone, from a red portal, and all the other witnesses left the scene as you stayed behind heavily injured within what looked like 5 breaths from kicking the bucket." The women's eyebrow had not dropped once in the past 6 hours.
"With some details cut out, then yeah you have the general plot, Miss Major." Yuhe never got her name and she didn't seem too excited to tell it to him for some reason -probably to avoid paperwork if the worst comes to happen- , so he just called her Miss Major for the past few hours
Speaking of Miss Major, once he got a good look at her he was genuinely surprised with how beautiful some of the rich ladies were. Of course they were gorgeous but he was surprised by how different they were compared to the other mice in the true wastelands. Miss Major wore a neat green army issued coat with simple blue jeans covering her lower half. She had far to many emblems to count on her coat. And her hair was an amazing deep brown dressed all the way down to her lower shoulders. She was the peak of fit muscle and strength and with how much the military demanded her attention and physical prowess, she was constantly in the field fighting.
After around 4 hours in the air he entered the biggest city in the whole continent of Asia, The great city of Beijing. One of the last 3 modern and actually defended cities inside all of Asia. The other 2 being Bangkok and Nanjing. While of course there were other cities inside Asia and 1 or 2 major cities inside Europe, these cities were not only the main supply hub of the world but also each held almost 500 million civilians and countless other military services and powerful people inside its massive walls. The whole place wouldn't be possible to sustain without the extraordinary rune magic defending it from the countless abominations that approached the great marble walls that seemed to reach the heavens almost. The polished pure white marble walls never seemed to have blood or God forbid a dent in them, this was because the walls were merely a conduit for the rune magic to block out out an area and designate it as a no-entry zone. Yuhe couldn't begin to explain anymore as his head would explode from the complex thoughts entering his weak mind. An easier thing to understand and grasp was that the walls only went so high. It only seemed like it went to the heavens and beyond but in reality it was an easy thing to get over if the invading abominations could fly. When the monster smelt blood or just the distinct smell of humans in a concentrated area they flocked to it quickly. And the walls could stop the grounded abominations but what about the flying ones that could dominate the strongest plane and attack helicopters the world could muster? Well the city designers simply just did nothing. They depended on the special abilities of multiple powerful people, fittingly named, Manifestors. This is the all Yuhe knew about those with powers and how they were named.
Yuhe was a knowledge hungry boy, a natural explorer. He wished to know everything there was in his little brain. It was a true shame that he was born in an area where if you spent your time learning things or listening to television instead of working you would most certainly meet your end through starvation. Which is why he concocted a plan. Yuhe was at first mixing up his story and stumbling on his words because he was just so shell shocked by the whole event, but now that he had time to gather his facts and make up masterful lies. He was free to use that to gather as much information about useless stuff he could muster!

Yuhe was leaving the massive helicopter for hopefully the first and last time. He quickly breathed in and felt the purest form of joy. Not only did he look around and saw no billowing clouds of black fog. But he also had the ability to take a deep breath and not be forcefully put into a coughing fit, it was by far the most freeing feeling and main reason why everyone strived to enter the big cities. The ventilation inside such mega structures such as the whole city of Nanjing was extremely effective at cleaning the dirty air. It was really a magnificent machine that Yuhe would know all about once he milked the whole survivor story enough. 'I wonder if I can talk to a boneified Manifestor.' He thought to himself with a wide smile.
"Okay, welcome to Beijing! The most dependable city in the east. It's stood for well over a thousand years and will outlive me and you. So don't act like a mouse around here is what I'm trying to say." Miss Major said. She tried not to be rude towards him but it was the truth, anyone could easily name multiple differences between a city dweller and a mouse. There is a clear class divide between the two economic groups, as there always is in a civilization. "Anyways I will guide you towards the Lunar Center for now, what they do there I have seriously no clue. Just don't repeat anything you told me when I was riding to help you, they are not as nice as me." Towards the end of her sentence Miss Major seemed to have turned cold. "Anyways, after that they will send you either back where you came from or give you an apartment where you will stay here for a while. That is of course, only if they deem you worthy enough to stay here and spend money on." Yuhe got the general gist of the events about to befall him though.
First, he was going to enter some Lunar Center and talk to the people in there. Probably a mix of researchers. There he was going to have to upsell himself, 'who wouldn't want a powerful up and coming rookie in their immediate sphere?' Yuhe thought to himself smugly.
Afterwards, he is either sent back to his dreadful wasteland of him hometown, or stay here in the dream like realm of Beijing. It was not a hard choice.
For now, Yuhe's only goal is to lie and fabricate his story of the portal. Of course he wasn't going to tell them the real story. Not only was he certain that they wouldn't believe him. But he also didn't know if Miss Major and the Lunar Center people talked to eachother beforehand.
'She seemed pretty cold and had some hidden hatetred towards them. Still, I don't think I can trust her.' Yuhe thought while remembering his time in his small isolated town. Stuck without any real government help, many quickly died to any wandering abominations in the area, while many more slowly and painfully died of starvation. It hurt even more to know that they were only a few hours away from a major city, which while impossible for them to travel towards it and find refuge here. The massive army conscripted by the government could've easily made the walk towards the town and saved countless lives.
Yuhe was guided towards a massive building. By far one of the biggest in the whole city and probably the world. The Lunar Center was made of pristine white marble with massive archways surrounding it leading to doorways. They didn't have any actual doors but just simple holes in the beautiful marble slates the size of almost 7 feet tall. The floor was also made of marble and there was lush greenery and trees surrounding the pathways the arches created. As he looked his way up the massive structure he saw that it resembled a cylinder with a massive closed circle ontop that could perhaps open to reveal a contraption underneath.
'Come to think of it, I've never seen trees this green and grass this colorful. These city kids sure have it easy.' Yuhe was beginning to lose his thoughts in the wake of jealousy until he was interrupted by Miss Major.
"Alright, this is as far as I go. I'll give you a couple words of advice. Try to hide as much as you can from these people. They won't help you. They don't care about you. They will use you and then drop you the second they deem you not necessary... Don't think you had it hard in the isolated village." After that, Miss Major walked away without looking back.
Yuhe was now all alone surrounded by scientists hurriedly walking around with files and papers in their hands. No one was paying any attention to him. If he wanted to he could really just leave and start to wander the city but in the current age every single corner and street in the mega city was under surveillance, so he wouldn't get too far.
With only one real direction to walk he simply went forwards toward the massive main doorway. While every other door was around 7 feet tall, the main doorway looked to be around 12 feet tall and 6 feet wide. Fitting the stream of scientists and high ranked members of society walking by with ease.
As Yuhe walked by the main doors he was met by a hefty bald man with light skin and a neatly trimmed brown beard and a mustache that went nicely around his mouth. He was wearing a light blue coat and dark blue undershirt accompanied by dark blue pants that both had an emblem of a dark grey cresent moon 'is that a waxing moon? Or waning? Is there even a difference? What has this guy been saying?'
"-Please follow me sir, mind if I knew your name?"
"It's Yuhe and I'm sorry but what were you saying before that?"
"Oh sir Yuhe I was simply welcoming you to this fine establishment, and that my name is Roan." Roan was carrying a light smile on his chubby face and was walking away signaling Yuhe to follow.
Yuhe was escorted towards the far left side of the massive building passing by multiple security checks with the simple wave of a card by the hefty man who was just ahead of him. Many people didn't even give Roan a second glance so Yuhe assumed he was simply a popular figure inside the center. After some time they walked past the final security check. And Roan told him to wait by a door and once it opened he should walk inside and make himself comfortable. After Yuhe nodded understandingly Roan left and shortly after the door opened gracefully and he entered a concrete room where the upper half was fully white including the ceiling and the bottom half of the wall was a deep calming blue, the tiles were the same white marble as the rest of the building and there was a simple wooden table with 3 chairs next to it. 1 chair for him, with 2 chairs on the other side of the table for Roan and possibly a guest.
