Chapter 8

"Sylvia, for the past three months, Gareth hasn't been well. He keeps complaining that every joint in his body aches, and he can barely get out of bed, yet the doctors can't find anything wrong with him."

"His birthday is coming up again, so we wanted to ask if you could help him one more time!"

I agreed.

However, Gareth probably didn't need my help anymore.

I agreed to watch the show unfold.

Gareth was lying in bed, looking utterly lifeless.

Doris was by his side, and she had lost so much weight that her three-month baby bump was barely visible.

Looking at her fragile face, I felt not an ounce of pity.

She brought all of this upon herself.

"Sylvia, you're here."

Gareth's voice was weak, and he had to gasp for several breaths just to get out one sentence.

Doris shot to her feet, her eyes glinting with venom.

"How dare you show your face here? What's happened to me and Gareth is all your fault!"
