Shock to the Heart

**AURORA**

"Liam, stop!" I cry, staring at the knife pressed against his wrist.

His eyes are wild, desperate, like a cornered animal. The blade digs deeper, drawing a thin red line across his skin.

"Why should I?" Liam's voice breaks. "He wants me gone. You want me gone. Everyone always chooses him."

Kian stands perfectly still, his face unreadable. "Put the knife down. This isn't about Aurora."

"It's always been about her!" Liam shouts, pressing the blade harder. "You took her from me. The one person who was supposed to be mine."

Isabella reaches toward her son. "Liam, please—"

"Don't come any closer!" He jerks back, the knife wavering. "None of you care about me. Not really."

My heart pounds in my chest. This can't be happening.

"I care about you," I say softly, taking a cautious step forward. "You know I do. You're my best friend."

Liam's laugh is brittle. "Friend? Is that what I am to you? After everything we've been through?"
