KIAN
The elegant Range Rover cut through the night as I gripped the steering wheel, my knuckles turning white. Julian sat beside me, scrolling through his phone and grinning like a lovesick teenager. Selena reclined in the back seat, her expression unreadable in the rearview mirror.
"Almost there," Julian announced, practically bouncing in his seat. "Man, I can't believe I'm getting married tomorrow."
I forced a tight smile. "Big day."
The secret I carried weighed on me like a physical burden. Julian deserved to know the truth about his bride. But was it really my place to destroy his happiness? The thought twisted in my gut like a knife.
"You know what they say," Selena chimed in from the back, her voice honeyed. "The night before the wedding is when all the magic happens."
Our eyes met briefly in the mirror. The challenge in her gaze was unmistakable.
"Is that so?" I replied, keeping my tone casual. "I thought the magic was supposed to happen after the ceremony."
