"Win the bet?" My voice sounded strange in my own ears as Kian's words sank in. "You think I care about that right now?"
Kian's face shifted from smug satisfaction to something darker. He stalked toward me, backing me against the wall again.
"You should care," he said, his voice dangerously soft. "Because I intend to collect."
"Get away from me." I pushed against his chest, but it was like trying to move a wall.
His hand came up to my throat, not squeezing, just resting there. A reminder of his power.
"Why are you defending him, Aurora?" His thumb traced my pulse point. "After everything he's done?"
"I'm not defending anyone," I insisted. "I just want out of this sick game between you two."
He leaned closer, his breath hot against my ear. "Then why did you come here today? Why try to expose me to Julian?"
The question struck me silent. Why had I rushed here? Because Liam asked me to? Because I wanted to hurt Kian?
