Strengthen Bonds
Some days have passed. Some are more active with crime than others, however this day starts off a lot differently…Shift quickly finds himself face to face with a huge sun and if it touches the ground it's over for everyone.
A Few hours earlier before these events occur…
Kaleb and Jamie are in the sanctuary conversing
"O'Neil has gone back home but says he will visit more often especially when he makes sure his mum is safe" Kaleb says while playing with a rubix cube he generated.
"Okay that's good. He is added into the database anyway , so he can come by anytime without setting any alarms off" Jamie adds
"Okay that's cool, also I been thinking ever since my fight with him…I need more utility in my kit" Kaleb says
Jamie quickly asks
"What do you mean?"
"Well like I can create the bo staff and these discs but I feel like I need more to work with" Kaleb replies , creating constructs of the disc and bo staff with his powers
"Like what though, what do you have in mind?" Jamie responds in question
"I'm starting to think the disc and bo staff can be a little limiting , especially against bigger opponents so I'll need up my imagination game" Kaleb replies
He begins thinking of different stuff and creates a range of constructs like an miniature air plane that flies around by itself , a miniature robot and a shurikun.
"Well we did know your power is connected to your imagination so that makes sense" Jamie agrees
"I've got an idea in mind…follow me"
Jamie takes Kaleb to a room with a futuristic door , it slides open and they go inside and see it's huge. A huge room filled with squares everywhere on the floor and walls.
"This doesn't feel right! It feels like it's way bigger on the inside"
Kaleb says confused
"You're right , I managed to figure out something I've been stuck on for ages. 'Dimensional Engineering.' Making this room bigger on the inside" Jamie says casually
Kaleb is left speechless
"It's not just that , I created this room for combat simulations, so we can put you in different fight cases to broaden your fight prowess and imagination on the fly" Jamie adds.
"That sounds cool! Let's try check it out now and see how it goes" Kaleb says in excitement"
Jamie begins setting things up , the squares begin to go static and change as they disappear and the background shifts.
"Okay so seeing as O'Neil was one of your strongest enemies I'm going to use his readings as the base however you won't need to use absolute light but the dummy will be just as strong and fast" Jamie says as the atmosphere changes to that of a city.
"Woah! The simulation looks so real! I can feel the wind blowing" Shift says
Suddenly the enemy appears , it's a black robotic dummy. Wasting no time It took charge and dashed straight towards Shift.
"Woah! You nearly got me there, you definitely got his speed" Shift says dodging the shadow dummy , teleporting in the air behind him
"But let's see if you got his endurance"
He creates a giant blue hand and slaps him sending him flying into the buildings
Shift begins to think back
"I remember wanting to do something like this against that energy vampire thing, let's see if It would work…imagine"
Suddenly a lot of blue rockets created by his blue aura appeared behind him and he sent them flying into the building where the dummy is exploding several times
"So I can do something like this as well…a bit too destructive for my taste although there is a time and place for everything." Shift says
Suddenly from his shadow the black dummy appears. Goes in for an attack however Shift's senses go off and he creates a small portal right in front of himself. The portal eats the attack and suddenly the dummy's own attack lands, punching itself.
"Bet you wasn't expecting that" Shift says laughing mockingly
'That does give me an idea though' he thinks to himself
He creates a portal and throws a disc through it. It goes though a sphere of portals around the dummy with each exit of a portal it gets faster and faster as it begins to entrap them inside a barrage of hits consecutively.
"That's amazing , he had made a sphere of portals all round the dummy and trapped it inside" Jamie thinks to himself
Through the earpiece , Jamie says
"Hey Kaleb , let's see if you can add elements to the disc"
"Let's give it a try…first we'll start with fire" Shift thinks to himself.
Suddenly the disc turns red and has the burning properties of fire with a red hot trail as it's going in one portal and out the after. Then he tried lightning and noticed it got a lot faster , then water , then air and lastly he tired earth and they all worked well.
"Wow so you can fully change the properties of your attacks whenever you want" Jamie says
"Oh that was fun…and that dummy is finished" Shift says laughing
"We'll have to reset it in a minute" Jamie adds
"But yeah it turns out I can. It'll be handy in the future except it takes a lot of energy so I got to be careful overusing it" Kaleb responds
"Speaking of elements, do you think you can help me with something later on?…let's just say I finally know what I want for my prize for winning the race" Jamie asks
"Sure bro, I got you" Kaleb says as they do their secret handshake and continue the training.
They start doing different training to test all areas of his imagination such as flight , creating tendrils for movement and attacks and also creating different types of projectiles for a wider range of options.
Hours fly by. Suddenly the main alarm goes off deafeningly loud. The place turns red. Shutting off the simulation.
"Kaleb, we have trouble! There's two villains destroying the city and hurting innocents right now! They're making a big mess"
Kaleb responds
"not if I can help it…there's two of them though gonna be a little hard"
"I'll be with you this time! The suit is ready" Jamie says as he raises his hand up towards his face. A watch-like bracelet glows as it begins to grow up, his hand and arms transforming into his suit…Overform!
"This world is so peaceful!… I hate it. Don't you agree, Toxio?" , the man with long solar-like burning hair says destroying buildings as civilians run screaming in fear.
"You're right Nova. Doing this makes it easier for the one we're after to appear though! I heard he was a 'hero' so I'm sure he'll show himself after all of this right?" Toxio says with a gas mask and bottles filled with green unknown substances on a belt wrapped around his waist.
They both continue to destroy the surroundings. Without a care in the world , laughing.
Shooting beams of burning starlight. Throwing radioactive bombs that melts anything upon contact.
Toxio raises his hand in order to destroy another building however, Shift teleports right in front of him kicking him in his chest. Jamie who is now 'Overform' also kicked as at the same time at fast speed he is infusing his suit with lightning.
"How did we attack the same person again!" Shift asks looking at Overform , seeing his best friends new suit.
"Great minds think alike I suppose" Overform adds from inside the black tech suit with a sleek design.
"What the" Nova says, reacting late. He begins charging his abilities ready to unleash an attack of nuclear levels of heat. Shift quickly creates a portal and teleports to Nova quickly, using the momentum punching him upwards interrupting his attack.
"I'll take care of the other one Shift , you take care of that one there" Overform says as he zooms off towards Toxio
"Look at him go! He is a full fledge hero now…love that guy" Shift says proudly
Nova in the air flying using his flames to propel himself. He creates a cluster of miniature stars and Shift could feel the heat they are given off
"Shesh is it me or does it feel like I'm standing near the sun…this is Deja vu…" Kaleb thinks to himself, recalling past moments with Solaris.
"Hahah feel the heat of many stars , you'll regret hitting me like that" Nova growls
He throws them all towards Shift but he quickly teleports several times dodging them with grace but as they all fly past him…he noticed
"Shit, if i leave all of those to hit the ground it could be catastrophic" Shift mutters
He accurately creates portals successfully swallowing the balls of heat he dodged earlier , while moving towards Nova in the air and begins creating more portals swallowing up the stars currently in front of him.
Surprising Nova. Shift notices this is his chance.
Shift infuses himself with lightning while going through a portal. Shooting out another , making him extremely fast and powerful. Almost invisible to the naked eye. He punches him with extreme speed and strength like a charged up rail gun. It creates multiple shockwaves parting the clouds.
On the other hand we have Overform standing with Toxio!
"You little shit , you and your boyfriend's attack hurt!" He says
"Well you shouldn't be doing bad shit then" Overform claps back fast
"Enough of your bullshit" Toxio says as he charges up as a green like substance appears around him
Sage from inside the suit speaks
'Careful sir! Getting readings of high levels of radiation and it's rapidly rising"
"Shit! The green stuff is radiation?! Sage activate radiation mode , we gotta finish this quickly"
"Radiation Shield Activate" A thin green layer shield across the entire suit "Shield at 100%"
Overform charges up with lightning then dashes towards him with immense speed however Toxio. Ready and waiting , starts hurling balls of hot radiation melting everything it comes into contact with…however Overform is running at high speed dodging and weaving all of them with Sage's help he looks unstoppable… however Sage says
'Radiation shields at 70% and decreasing , the closer you get the more the radiation is stronger"
Under the pressure Jamie's brain is overclocking
"I have to get closer , I have an idea Sage…I'm not sure if it'll work but we have to give it a try , just wait for my signal"
'Yes sir' Sage responds
"This is why I hate you speedster types! Like rats running around everywhere! You're not even the one we're after but you're a pest"
He explodes the radiation around him creating a force wave however it didn't burn through Overform's shielding allowing him to get close.
"Now Sage , keep 'Lightning' active but also activate 'Ice' element"
Sage always ready says
'Yes sir'
Overform begins to change now fusing lighting with ice as the colour of lightning begins to look like ice. Overform creates a sword of ice then proceeds to launch it into Toxio creating a big ice border sealing him and his radiation.
"Radiation has been contained and analysed…'absorbtion' is possible Sage says
'Phew! That's good, let's absorb all the radiation from him and in the area and neutralize it" Overform says
He begins floating into the air and the radiation starts being absorbed flowing into the suit however down below at the ice statue it begins melting. Unaware , Overform continues…back to Shift.
Nova is enraged and has seemed to be sending out a flurry of star powered energy blasts towards Shift however he creates a giant hand made of hard light in front of him. Using it as a shield blowing up the star. Using the momentum from a portal…just before Shift makes contact with Nova , he quickly makes a portal in front of himself. Confusing Nova.
Shift jumps out another portal with his fist encased in an aura , punching him sending him flying backwards.
Dazed from the blow , Nova looks around everywhere frantically for Shift…he raises his hand up and creates a small ball of a star as it begins to grow in size and heat.
"Hmm, we were meant to capture you alive for our boss but you have pissed me off… so if you don't come here now. Then this world of yours will be eaten by this star of mine" Nova says angrily
Shift teleports out of a portal behind him with his first coated in his power in the shape of gauntlet to withstand the heat and to add more power…
He punches him with all his strength sending him flying through the sky and followed him creating a portals using the momentum while continuously punching him through portals several times all around the place entrapping him.
"Shit! I wasn't expecting this! I can't do anything he is too fast" Nova says as he continues to fly through the sky with every hit before saying
"Do you think you have enough time to be doing this , right now that 'sun' I created has been continuing to grow this whole time. Soon it'll be so big and hot that it will start messing up with this world's orbit and stuff" he says as he laughs like a maniac.
Shift looks up and sees a ball of heat growing endlessly…
Shift slams Nova down into several portals , crashing into the ground knocking him out. He starts contacting Overform
"I got a problem over here. This weirdo created a sun and it's getting as big as ours…if I send it into space do you think earth can handle two suns?" Shift asks
"The short answer is no! You need to find a way to get rid of it!" Overform answers
"Shit! So if I don't find a way then we're screwed!" Shift replies
Overform cuts him off
"Just a little bit! Anyways I gotta go! I have a situation on my hand"
"Wait what! Then what am I supposed to do?.." Shift says as the second sun stares at him.
Back to Overform as soon as he gets off the phone to Shift.
"Nuclear energy is rapidly rising" Sage warns Overform
Behind him you can see the ice containing Toxio is melting fast and as the steam fills the air.
"You think it'll be that easy? Just trap me inside some ice huh? Good try but no" Toxio shouts, as he blasts away the remaining ice freeing himself
"Sage , locate a place that is safe from all civilians that would allow for a nuclear battle" Jamie says
Sage begins scanning and locates the nearest place
"That would be at least 50 miles west and even that doesn't guarantee survival" she explains
"Well I got to try!" He says hopeful
"Okay so activate our new radiation element we got from absorbing it to 80% and activate lightning to 100%! It's time we overlocked a little" Overform says
Overform stands there with lightning as the colour changes once more. A pure green. Fusing the radiation element to the lightning.
"I kinda like the black and green!" he states checking out the new form.
Overform begins charging up and suddenly he is gone! Nothing but a green flash of where he was! He ran so fast grabbing Toxio by the face, taking him away at high speed. Running through the whole city at a immense speed leaving nothing but a trail of green fading to blue.
Within seconds he has reached the place that Sage told him about. It's a open area far away from any buildings and people.
Overform throws Toxio using his momentum from running.
"Now I have about 28 seconds left of overclock…it's time to end this" Overform thinks to himself
"What the! That's some speed he has , couldn't react at all and within a second I'm this far from that city" Nova mutters
He throws down one of the bottles on his side. It explodes acting like a smokescreen. Overform now encased in the smoke of radiation looks around. Toxio tries to ambush him; however before he could reach close to him , Overform has already dashed into his face with a punch charged up.
"Your radiation has no effect on me now! I've absorbed it and neutralised yours…so I can get close and do this"
He punches him with extreme speed sending him flying backwards however Overform caught up and punched him again repeating it several times in a Z pattern…
"ENOUGH!!" He says exploding his power in a rage. Green smoke explosively pushes out like a violent sea.
"It's too late for that now! Look up!" Overform says while pointing upwards and Toxio looks up. A lightning cloud has formed. Suddenly a huge strike of green lightning flashes down at him electrocuting Toxio, knocking him out.
"That lightning is infused with my radiation in order to neutralise yours so you won't be getting out of that conscious" Overform says to the man while dusting himself off.
Overform contacts Shift through the comms
"My side is done…did you figure out what to do with that second sun of yours?"
Shift replies "I guess you can say that…"
Present—
Shift is now single handedly trying to push back this whole sun but is being overwhelmed and pushed back. His hands are burning he tries to shield himself and his arms even more to withstand the heat.
"This isn't enough!! At this rate it'll fall into the earth and destroy everything!! Think, Shift Think!!" He shouts as pieces of his suit burn around his face and arms.
"I can try to create a super massive portal but where exactly?…Try imagine a world with no sun but in need of one" Shift thinks to himself
Suddenly a huge portal opened up underneath Shift covering the whole of Kalos.
Otherside of the portal is a dimension with a world with no sun. Their sun is said to have been eaten by something. Shift teleports to the top of the star Nova created and generates a giant reinforced fist and kept enhancing it as much as he could before , punching the ball like star through the portal into the once dark ridden earth.
Shift closes the portal , cutting the connection to the other world. Saving Kalos. Shift teleports down to the unconscious Nova and creates a disc and enlarges it. Imprisoning him in it.
Overform speeding through towards Shift, his enemy also captured. The police make it through with their heavy duty cars and outfits and take the villains away.
Both Shift and Overform make their way back to the sanctuary after successfully saving the world just like they wanted in childhood!
Shift swiftly teleporting while doing parkour as he jumps out a portal and Overform is flying free.
