Chapter.30 Final Season 2 (Vol2)

When the Hound Barks Part 2: The Name That Breaks

The Hollow War V

---

🌪️ Vale of Whisper – Ruined Sanctum Edge

Wind swept through broken pillars and shattered altars. The air was thin, dry, humming.

Kael stood atop a stone slab, watching the Hound pace in the distance. Lireen tended to Aethen, whose skin glowed faintly, breath shallow.

Lireen: "He's fading. Whatever power he used back there... it drained him."

Kael: "We need answers, now."

Aethen opened his eyes slowly.

Aethen: "Its true name. That's what you need. Only then... can it bleed."

Kael: "Tell me."

Aethen (shaking): "You must remember it. It can't be given. It must be earned. Pulled from the silence."

Lireen: "How the hell do we pull a name from silence?"

Aethen: "By listening where no one dares."

---

🌀 Flashback Vision – Echoes in Kael's Mind

Kael's eyes glazed. Time folded. Memory invaded.

He stood in a long corridor made of mirrors. Each reflected not his body, but versions of himself afraid, angry, weeping.

A voice whispered.

> "You seek to name the unnamable. Then bear its birth."

Flashes:

A child burned for speaking truth.

A scroll torn by a king's blade.

A woman hanging in silence with a feathered mask.

The name came not in sound, but feeling.

Kael (whispering): "Varkhail."

The mirrors shattered.

---

🔥 Return to Present – Sanctum Edge

Kael stumbled back, nose bleeding.

Lireen: "Kael! What happened?"

Kael (panting): "Its name... Varkhail."

The air changed.

Far off, the Hound froze.

Then roared.

Aethen (weakly smiling): "You remembered. Now make it fear you."

---

🗡️ Confrontation – The Name That Breaks

Kael walked forward. Lireen flanked him. The Hound approached, slow, deliberate.

Kael didn't raise his blade.

Kael: "Varkhail."

The beast recoiled, jaws snapping, eyes burning with stolen voices.

Kael: "You are no myth. No curse. You are Varkhail, born of silence, twisted by cowardice."

The Hound screamed, a noise so sharp it broke a tree nearby in half.

Kael kept walking.

Kael: "I don't fear you. You were built to make truth impossible. But here I stand. Speaking. Naming."

The Hound lunged.

Lireen threw a shield spell it shattered.

Kael ducked under the beast, slammed his palm on its chest.

Kael: "VARKHAIL!"

A pulse of white burst from his hand.

The Hound froze mid-air. Then howled.

Its form began to split.

Glass fell like feathers.

Its body cracked open from within, not flesh, but echoes. Faces screaming, voices pleading.

Kael: "You were never a monster. Just a cage."

The beast collapsed.

Silent.

---

🌙 Aftermath – End of the Chase

The valley grew still.

Aethen stood, supported by Lireen.

Aethen: "You broke it. You named it. That's how we win. Not by killing... but by remembering."

Kael looked at his hand. No blood. Just warmth.

Kael: "Then let them all come. One by one. We'll speak their truths, too."

Lireen smiled faintly. "And burn their silence."
