Ushiro Yamato, abandoned at birth for his lack of power, grew up in the shadows. Mocked, ignored, nicknamed "the one who stays behind," he never displayed the slightest spark of energy. But he never stopped moving forward.

At the age of 11, he was allowed to participate in the Great Selection, a national test where even those without gifts can prove their worth. During an expedition into a thousand-year-old forest, he discovered an ancient circle, a sacred sword, and a forgotten prophecy. By binding his old training sword to this divine weapon, Ushiro activated a unique power: elemental duality.
