CHAPTER 13
Emily watches them both and asked,"What are you doing after you finish breakfast?"
Sarah raised her eyebrows and said "Actually Emily, I've got a job interview today. It's at the diner downtown, you know, the one that's always hiring. It's just dishwashing, but it's a start, right? So I should get going to make sure I'm not late."
Well, good luck on your interview." As Sarah goes out the door Emily is left alone with Clara.
Emily turns her attention to Clara. "So, now that Sarah is gone. I was wondering if you would like to show me some places in the south. if I can find them nice. I would love to have some company.""I have never been to the Southern, so please you have to tell me everything.
Okay I will show you places around the town, nothing interesting, the south is a boring place for me"clara said".
Lead the way! You just show me all your favorite places, and tell me what makes them so special," Emily says, her voice filled with genuine enthusiasm. "I'm all ears."
Emily follows behind Clara, as they walk down the street. She could feel that they are not going anywhere close.
Okay, okay, but while we are enjoying the day, you have to tell me all about these places you're taking me to. I want to hear everything!" Emily says, her voice light and encouraging. She's hoping that as Clara opens up, she'll reveal something that will help her understand what's really going on.
As they enter the park, Emily's eyes light up as she spots the old-fashioned seesaw. "Oh, come on, Clara! We have to try it! It'll be just like when I was a kid," Emily says, grabbing Clara's hand and pulling her toward the seesaw. This could be a good way to lighten the mood and build a connection.Emily clambered onto one side of the seesaw, giggling as she pushed off with her foot. "Whee! This is so much fun!" she exclaimed, looking at Clara with a playful grin. "Come on, get on the other side! Let's see if we can get this thing going!" The seesaw creaked and groaned as they started to pump their legs, the up-and-down motion creating a sense of lightness and joy
As the seesaw rocked back and forth, Emily began to talk about her childhood, sharing stories of her mischievous adventures and silly mishaps. "When I was little, my best friend and I used to go to the park every day," she said, her voice filled with nostalgia. "We'd spend hours playing on the swings, climbing the trees, and making up wild stories. It feels so good to be back here, even after all these years."
The seesaw creaks gently, and Emily turns to Clara with a warm smile. "So, enough about me. What about you? What was your childhood like? What kind of games did you use to play?
Emily listens intently as Clara begins to share her own memories. She learns about Clara's close-knit family, her love of reading, and her dreams of becoming a writer. As Clara speaks, Emily notices a flicker of sadness in her eyes, a hint of longing for something more.Emily asks carefully, "What do your parents do in the Northern?"
Emily listens attentively as Clara talks about her father, Richard Sterling, she could tell if anything happens but didn't want to say it loud and now she will have to put the clues together, She wanted to see Clara's story.
