The next day, Dugu Bo met with Yang Wudi once again.
"I've seen your sincerity," Dugu Bo said.
"In many ways, we're alike — both fascinated by poison, and both enemies of Spirit Hall."
"You have sharp eyes. I may be hailed as the Poison Douluo, the supreme master of toxins, but I still can't cure the poison in my own body."
"I'm not asking you to cure me. But…"
"I don't want my granddaughter to follow the same path."
"You should understand what I'm saying."
"Without celestial-grade herbs, I'd say I have a 40% chance of helping her. But with them — 90%."
Yang Wudi nodded seriously.
"As for your condition, Your Grace… your body has been saturated with poison for many years. I might only have a 40% chance of healing it. But even if I can't fully cure you, I can at least ease your pain."
He didn't dare promise more than that.
"What if the poison could be transferred into an external object," Yun Yibai interjected suddenly, "like a venom sac in a snake?"
"But for a Spirit Master, what kind of item could contain such intense, concentrated poison?" Yang Wudi asked.
"How about… a soul bone?" Yun Yibai offered.
Yang Wudi blinked.
"Kid, you sure dare to dream. Don't you know how rare and valuable a soul bone is?"
"Still… if it is a soul bone, it might just work. It's just — a soul bone's value is on par with these celestial herbs. Not easy to come by."
Dugu Bo simply said:
"As long as there's a solution — it's worth it."
He knew that ten-thousand-year soul bones were rare. But thousand-year ones were still within reach, even if they required time and effort to obtain.
"That Immortal Fragrant Kilo herb you wanted — I do have it."
"And I'm willing to give it to you," Dugu Bo added.
"Then from this day forward, the Yang Clan will follow Your Grace," Yang Wudi declared without hesitation.
And just like that, the party returning to the Heaven Dou Empire gained a new member — Yang Wudi.
One month later, they arrived in Heaven Dou City.
Oscar, Dugu Yan, and Yang Wudi remained in the capital. Meanwhile, Dugu Bo took Yun Yibai and flew toward the Sunset Forest.
"Kid, listen to me closely," Dugu Bo said as they flew.
"If I ever find out you mistreat my Yan-yan, I won't let you off easily!"
The casual use of "kid" signaled something new — Dugu Bo was officially acknowledging Yun Yibai's status.
They soared over the Sunset Forest, eventually arriving at a misty region thick with poisonous fog. Beneath the toxic clouds, life still thrived — a field of Jade Scale Sevenfold Flowers bloomed in silence.
With a wave of Dugu Bo's hand, the fog dispersed.
They continued forward, the surroundings growing darker. Eventually, they reached a cliffside, where faint red and blue lights flickered below.
Descending further, Yun Yibai realized it was not a cliff, but a valley.
The environment inside the valley was completely different from the world outside. In the middle of the basin lay a strange dual-colored hot spring. The pool was oval-shaped, but its waters were divided into two distinct sections — one milky white, the other crimson red.
Even more astonishing: despite sharing the same pool, the two waters never mixed. They stayed perfectly separated, each confined to its side.
"This place… incredible," Yun Yibai murmured.
"Is this your secret base, Senior?"
"Yes," Dugu Bo nodded.
"I stumbled across this place by accident. It was filled with potent toxins — but I found that I felt strangely comfortable here. So I made it my medicinal garden."
"Sitting on a mountain of treasure and not even knowing it," Yun Yibai muttered inwardly.
The Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well didn't just nurture rare herbs — it also had a powerful impact on the human body. Anyone who stayed too long would have their body bombarded by both extreme heat and extreme cold spiritual energy. If they couldn't withstand it, their body would explode.
This was why Dugu Bo had never brought Dugu Yan here.
But Yun Yibai was different — with his Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Martial Soul, his body was exceptionally resilient. Of course, Dugu Bo also had another reason — he wanted to test Yun Yibai, who now served as both bodyguard and husband-to-be for his granddaughter.
He didn't see him as a son-in-law, but more like a sparring dummy.
Still, for someone like Dugu Bo — whose entire body was laced with poison — this place was a paradise. The extreme cold and heat helped suppress the toxins. The fact that so many rare herbs could grow here proved how unique it was.
As they walked deeper, Yun Yibai finally saw the celestial herbs with his own eyes.
The more he saw, the more excited he became.
Finally, he spotted the two herbs he desired most — the only ones that could be consumed together by a Spirit Master:
Fiery Apricot Petal
Eight-Spoked Ice Grass
In his eyes, these weren't just celestial herbs — they were ten-thousand-year black soul rings waiting to happen.
"Don't get too close," Dugu Bo warned.
"Even I have to be cautious around those two. Their toxins are not to be underestimated."
"Senior, it's all here — Immortal Fragrant Kilo, Eight-Petal Immortal Orchid, Golden Aromatic Tulip, Water-Nymph Jade Bone… and the Sky-reaching Chrysanthemum. Nine types in total!" Yun Yibai said excitedly.
"Excellent," Dugu Bo nodded in satisfaction.
This meant there would still be some leftover herbs after use — perfect for strengthening future generations of the family.
Yes — Dugu Bo was already thinking that far ahead.
He began collecting herbs using the methods Yang Wudi had described:
Immortal Fragrant Kilo
Golden Aromatic Tulip
Eight-Petal Immortal Orchid
Water-Nymph Jade Bone
He stored them carefully in a tool designed to preserve living herbs.
That left:
Fiery Apricot Petal
Eight-Spoked Ice Grass
Clearwater Autumn Dew
Sky-reaching Chrysanthemum
Blood Swan Kiss
Dugu Bo turned to Yun Yibai:
"Kid, are you coming back with me, or staying here?"
The implication was clear: the remaining herbs were for Yun Yibai to use as he wished.
Realistically, Dugu Bo was only leaving two herbs behind for Yun Yibai:
Sky-reaching Chrysanthemum
Clearwater Autumn Dew
As for the Blood Swan Kiss, Dugu Bo didn't dare go near it — its nature was too dangerous for someone with poison-filled blood like him.
He believed the Sky-reaching Chrysanthemum was best suited for Yun Yibai. His Martial Soul — a variant of the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon — was already aggressive and powerful. The Chrysanthemum was a neutral celestial herb that would circulate qi and blood, potentially forging an indestructible body.
Yun Yibai's combat style relied heavily on his limbs. The stronger his body, the more powerful he'd become.
Originally, Dugu Bo had planned to keep the Chrysanthemum for himself — not because it was perfect for him, but because it would infuriate Chrysanthemum Douluo Yue Guan.
But upon further thought, he realized Yun Yibai was a better match. And since he approved of Yun Yibai as a grandson-in-law, it would still be satisfying to disgust that old Chrysanthemum by proxy.
Thanks to what Yang Wudi had revealed, Dugu Bo now had a clear idea of how much Yue Guan wanted that herb.
"The yin-yang spiritual energy here will temper your body," Yun Yibai said respectfully.
"Thank you for giving me this opportunity, Senior."
"Don't go touching anything you don't recognize," Dugu Bo warned.
"Even I don't know every poisonous herb that grows in here."
With that, he left.
Once alone, Yun Yibai finally took a close look at the Fiery Apricot Petal and Eight-Spoked Ice Grass.
It was known that these two extreme toxins could safely be consumed together, producing incredible effects.
Whether it was immunity to all poisons or resistance to fire and ice, either one would be a massive advantage to any Spirit Master.
Yun Yibai sat down by the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, beginning to cultivate.
He needed to acclimate to the environment first before doing anything more.
