The boys froze as their mother's voice echoed in the room. Their father, however, looked proud and was smiling warmly.
Nian and Xuanye turned toward their mother and asked, "Ma, what happened?"
Still in shock, their mother sat on the sofa and asked, "How did you girls even meet these boys in the first place?"
Their father joined her, sitting beside her, and added, "Yeah, how did you two meet?"
The boys and girls exchanged glances, and Nian began, "Ma, when we were in our final year, our professor gave us a project — we were assigned to write about a music group. That's when our professor sent us to Seventeen."
Xuanye continued with a soft smile, "And when we walked into their dorm for the first time, we didn't realize it would be fate. Over time, we grew close. That's when I met him," she looked at Minghao lovingly, "and he became my comfort. My safe place. He's not just an idol to me — he's someone who genuinely cares."
Her mother stared at her silently, then turned to the boys. "Sit," she said in a serious tone.
DK and Minghao blinked and sat down immediately.
"You're DK and Minghao, right?" she asked.
The boys nodded nervously.
Her eyes narrowed slightly. "Then let me ask you — do you truly love my daughters?"
The girls grinned, but one sharp look from their mother made them go quiet.
DK nodded and said seriously, "Aunt, Uncle, I really love Nian. I would never hurt her — not in any way."
Minghao followed, "Aunt, I'll cherish Ye like my own life. I just want her to be happy."
Their mother leaned forward. "Let me make something clear. You are idols. I may not know everything about that world, but I know enough to ask this: what if you're forced to choose between your career and your relationship one day? What then?"
The girls and their father both reacted at once, "What are you saying? Don't say that!"
But DK and Minghao calmly replied, "It's alright. Aunt is asking out of care."
They added in unison, "If anything happens, we won't drag them into it. We'll never leave them behind. We'll protect them — always."
Their mother's eyes softened, and she said, "I can see your sincerity. But I'm not the kind of mother who only cares about her daughters. I see you're carrying burdens, too — and yet you never show it. You don't lash out. That's rare."
Both boys' eyes welled with tears.
"If you ever need someone… if life gets hard, you can come to us. Me and my husband — we'll treat you like our own."
Nian and Xuanye sat frozen, watching their boyfriends in tears. Their father smiled proudly and said, "You're grown men. Don't cry now."
But DK and Minghao couldn't hold back anymore. They burst into tears.
Their father turned to his wife. "Look what you've done — why are you making them cry?"
She sighed, walked over, crouched down, and opened her arms. The boys were stunned. Slowly, they leaned in and hugged her, clinging like little kids.
She comforted them, whispering, "Don't cry, boys. If your mothers saw you like this, they'd scold me."
Minghao sobbed, "Aunt… I miss my parents so much…"
Xuanye and Nian cried too, their hearts overwhelmed.
Their mother patted Minghao's back and said gently, "Then cry. If you need to cry, let it out. DK, you too. Don't bottle up sadness. We're here for you."
DK wiped his tears and said, "Aunt… you're really just like my mom. She always hugged me when I was down."
Minghao, red-eyed and emotional, nodded beside him.
Their mother smiled tenderly and wiped their faces with tissue.
Their father shook his head with a chuckle. "These girls… so emotional these days."
Their mother leaned in and whispered playfully to the boys, "You don't know this, but these two? They blast your songs in the house and dance like crazy. Their bedroom? Covered in your posters. I'm not even allowed to touch them."
The boys burst into laughter.
"Really, Aunt?" DK grinned. "Now I have to see their room."
She ruffled their hair, then turned to the girls and said, "You two. Why are you crying now, huh? Want a good scolding?"
The girls quickly wiped their faces, but she smiled. "If you ever make these boys cry again, I'll scold you, okay? Take care of them."
The boys' faces lit up like sunshine. They jumped to their feet, grinning ear to ear.
The girls, still teary, asked together, "Then, Ma… do you accept our relationship?"
Their mother glanced at her husband. He gave a quiet nod.
And with that, the girls screamed joyfully, hugging their mom tightly, even planting kisses on her cheeks.
The boys laughed watching them.
Their father got up, walked over, and placed his hands on their shoulders. "Boys… we're entrusting our precious daughters to you. Take care of them — and yourselves."
The boys hugged him, moved beyond words.
Then he whispered playfully, "Boys, one small request… can I get your autographs?"
DK and Minghao looked at each other and burst out laughing.
"Of course, Uncle," they said. "Anything for you."
