Chapter 25: Infiltrating the Pier

At six o'clock in the evening, Leo Bright, clad in his brand-new gear, hopped onto a bus heading towards Hell's Kitchen as darkness fell.

"You're a famous superhero now anyway."

"Don't you feel embarrassed taking the bus for free every day?" Skye teased through the headset.

Leo was at a loss for words.

He was considering switching to another mode of transportation. Perhaps he could persuade a car company to design a motorcycle or sports car for him.

A Batman supercar? That would be pretty cool.

With his own abilities, flying a supercar through the sky wouldn't be an issue.

It was time for a change of residence.

You never see superheroes cramped in cheap rental rooms with a female roommate, though he didn't mind sharing a space with one.

But eventually, he needed a place of his own.

Preferably a manor.

And if conditions allowed, a secret base.

To store future vehicles and gear.

But all this required money.

Leo felt a wave of frustration at the thought. He had plenty of super abilities, but his financial skills were lacking.

Sadly, he didn't possess any business acumen either. The grandest plan he could come up with was to open a beauty salon and barber shop.

Possibly include an art exhibition.

Chatting with Skye, the bus quickly arrived at Hell's Kitchen.

Leo jumped off and swiftly vanished from sight.

At Dad's Tavern, a shadow fell on the roof.

Daredevil—Matt Murdock—was in the storage room polishing his weapon when his ears perked up at a sound. He grabbed his cane and cautiously stepped out of the tavern.

A bat-shaped dart whizzed toward him.

Matt's ears twitched, and his cane intercepted the projectile with precision.

"Hey, man, looks like you're almost healed." Leo grinned, jumping down from the roof.

"It's you, the guy from the East?" Matt, though blind, was acutely attuned to voices.

"I have a name, though you might not have heard it. They call me Batman now," Leo said, retrieving his bat dart. He wasn't one to waste resources.

Recycle whenever possible.

"It's actually you. You made quite a splash last night. Your name's buzzing around Hell's Kitchen." Matt was impressed, finding Leo even more enigmatic.

"I heard you're planning something big tonight. Let's get going, man. You'll have to guide me," Leo said, glancing toward Dad's Tavern, still remembering the last drink he had there.

"It'd be great to have you with us."

"Hold on."

"I need to change."

Matt said, returning soon after clad in his red Daredevil suit.

Leo raised an eyebrow; tights were indeed trendy.

The two set off for Kingpin's pier.

"Dude, you can actually see, right?" Leo watched in disbelief as the blind Daredevil drove, finding it utterly surreal.

He was blind!

A blind man driving normally on the road!

"An accident when I was young cost me my sight, but it heightened my other senses, giving me special abilities."

"In a way, I can 'see' some things, like your stylish cape."

"Honestly, your look reminds me of someone," Matt said with a chuckle.

"Oh? Who's that?" Leo asked, intrigued.

"The Punisher, Frank."

"But he hasn't been around Hell's Kitchen lately," Matt replied.

"Another person I haven't heard of. Also a superhero?" Leo pondered.

"I'd usually call him a vigilante. He leaves no gang members alive. It's said he was a military instructor before witnessing his family being murdered by a gang, turning him into who he is now," Matt explained.

Leo nodded, and the conversation ended.

The car stopped near the pier, and Leo and Daredevil slipped into the night.

"Damn, why's there so many people here all of a sudden?" Daredevil listened intently, worry creasing his brow. Sweat formed on his forehead.

Entering would be suicidal.

High-powered searchlights swept the pier, their defenses tight.

"Is it Consultant Leo?"

"I see you."

A stranger's voice, serious and cold, came through the headset.

"Senior Hawkeye? Where are you?" Leo scanned his surroundings. He hadn't met Hawkeye before, only seen his photos in the archives.

"Above you," Hawkeye replied.

Leo looked up towards the watchtower. His eyes tinged with blood-red; with the Sharingan, night and day seemed the same, the sky still a crimson hue.

Leo spotted Hawkeye.

The man with a quiver on his back was operating the searchlight.

A daring tactician.

Infiltrating such a critical spot right under Kingpin's nose, and yet unnoticed—this was the epitome of hiding in plain sight.

"Stay hidden; they're coming to exchange goods."

"Kingpin is here," Hawkeye warned.

Leo acknowledged, glancing at Daredevil beside him.

Leo tossed him a headset, and the two split up, each finding a place to hide.

Leo didn't quite understand why he was hiding.

Hovering in the air felt exhilarating, like being in an assassin game.

However, Senior Hawkeye and Daredevil were seasoned compared to the newcomer.

They definitely had their reasons.

Leo decided to follow their lead.
