"It's quite a coincidence, Mr. Stark," Leo Bright greeted Tony Stark with a nod.
The two had met just a few days prior. At that time, without his Beast Instinct, Leo might not have survived.
"He's our Super-Ability Consultant."
"You two know each other?" Fury inquired, surprised.
"It's a bit of a long story; we met before," Leo confirmed.
"Yes, I looked into it afterward. Someone tampered with the traffic light timing; I almost got hit by a car..."
"Wait! What did you say he was to you?"
"Did I hear that right, super-ability consultant? Are there really super abilities in this world?"
"Oh my... oh my..." Tony exclaimed dramatically. As a scientist, he was fascinated by the concept of super abilities.
"What's your superpower? Flight? Metal control? Invisibility? X-ray vision?" Tony fired off a series of curious questions.
"I can make people quiet," Leo replied with a shrug and a smile.
Tony: "???"
Tony frowned, confused by what "quiet" meant, scratched his head, and continued to ask: "¥#¥@%#@¥!!!!!!"
His words seemed stuck, as if glued shut.
He tried to speak but couldn't, his eyes widening in disbelief.
At that moment,
He finally understood what "quiet" meant.
Fury took a half-step back, a bit unnerved, not wanting to suddenly bite his tongue.
Leo spread his hands innocently, then turned and walked away.
"Hey, don't leave! Undo this!" Tony's voice attempted to follow, filled with frustration.
But his words came out as: "@#@¥#@%#@!¥..."
As Leo walked away, the ten-second silence lifted, and Tony exhaled heavily, shaken.
"What kind of super ability is this? How does he do it?" Tony muttered, watching Leo's retreating figure.
"He's a mysterious guy. Tonight, he chopped off Kingpin's arm and nearly killed him," Fury stated proudly.
Tony's eyes sparkled with interest.
"I'm going to hire him as my bodyguard! I'll offer him a hundred million a year!"
Fury's expression darkened instantly.
"Stop dreaming!"
"Robin is not a man who sees money!"
"Everything he did was for justice! I urge you to dismiss this ridiculous notion. If Robin finds out, I can't stop him!" Fury declared with conviction.
On the surface, he was all about righteousness.
But inside, he was panicking.
He knew Leo too well. If Leo heard about Tony's offer, he'd likely sign up immediately.
"Wake up, you can't buy everything with money."
"The most valuable thing in this world is integrity," Fury continued.
"Are you bluffing me?" Tony looked skeptical. As a genius, reading people was second nature to him.
"If you don't believe me, try it, but be ready to feel like that forever," Fury whistled, feigning nonchalance.
Tony recalled the recent sensation of being silenced and shook his head.
Then he shifted his focus to the real issue: his weapons.
Where did these arms come from?
Fury turned his back and discreetly instructed his subordinates to transfer two million to Leo's account.
Beep beep beep...
Fury's emergency line buzzed.
"Hey, Director, why'd you send me another two million?" Leo's voice was laced with excitement, barely holding back the nickname he'd given Fury.
"You did an excellent job on your mission. This is a special reward. Also, you're now a Level 7 agent, Advisor Robin," Fury replied with a somber tone.
"Ah, thank you so much, Director. You're a great person. I appreciate you more and more. If there are more opportunities like this, remember to call me," Leo said happily.
Not for the upgrade to Level 7, but for the extra two million.
Fury maintained his serious demeanor, responded with a simple "um," and ended the call.
He exhaled with relief, finally at ease.
Yet, he was slightly worried. What if someone with a higher salary poached Leo in the future?
It seemed he needed to be more generous with Leo.
Make him realize that he had the best situation here!
There was no other way.
Perhaps he should find a wife for him to settle him down.
But who?
Leo rode back to his place in just 20 minutes on a Harley "borrowed" from the Quinjet.
Borrowed was the key word.
Returning it was another matter entirely.
If Leo had a driver's license, he'd have borrowed a more expensive four-wheeler.
Leo parked his motorcycle, turned, and saw Skye waiting for him anxiously at the door.
"I'm back," Leo smiled and waved.
"Where's your gear?" Skye looked him over, relieved to see he appeared uninjured, then asked.
"Oh...that. It's dirty, so I sent it back to headquarters for some upgrades," Leo evaded the question with a casual remark.
Skye was silent for a moment, then looked at Leo: "Don't take such risks in the future."
"It's not dangerous. I'm very capable, don't worry," Leo said cheerfully, seeing his roommate's concern.
"There's always someone better."
"Don't get cocky."
Skye followed behind, wanting to say more, but her shyness held her back.
The two ascended to the third floor, entered their apartment, and retreated to their rooms.
"I'll take care of myself."
"Don't worry, I'm not reckless."
"Get some rest."
"Goodnight."
Leo said, closing his bedroom door.
Skye stomped her foot, closing her door with frustration.
"It would be a miracle if you had a brain... you fool!"
