Reliving her dream

My head is pounding really hard, my eyes blurring for a while. The passage of air is blocked in my nostrils, so I open my mouth to breathe properly.

What kind of a dream is that?

"What is the matter with you?" Irene blinks, sitting on the bed beside me.

I swallow hard, clutching my chest, "Irene. How.. did I get here?"

She knits her brows together, "Uh, you got here by walking?"

I close my eyes, "It was a dream," I take a deep breath.

"You were writhing, and screaming. It scared the fuck out of me."

I straighten myself on the bed, "Oh, I had a very scary dream. A wolf literally chased me down here."

Irene stares at me expressionless, then suddenly bursts out laughing, "What's your obsession with wolves these days? Really?"

I bit my lower lip, a pang hitting my chest at her words, "You think I'm lying?"

She shrugs, "I don't know, but you've really had a thing with wolves these days. The last time, you said it wanted to attack you, another time you said it almost bit you but you managed to escape it. Now, a wolf chased you?"

I don't know why, but I snap at her words, "Really now? So you think I'm making these all up?"

"I don't know, but it's beginning to seem weird now. Why is a wolf attacking you in your dreams all the time? I'm a werewolf, no wolves attack me."

I hold my head, boiling in rage, "That's exactly the reason. It hasn't happened to you!" I finally let out my frustration, and yell at her.

"Why would you even know? All you do is walk around, just yapping nonsense that doesn't even make sense!" I scream, jumping off my bed.

Her jaw drops at my words. Hurt flashes in her eyes, and my heart clenches seeing the look in her eyes.

Oh snap.

"I'm so sorry I–" I cover my mouth with my hands.

"No, it's.. fine," she gets off my bed, then begins walking briskly back to the door.

"Irene, wait," I run after her, but she reaches the door first and bolts out of my room.

 My shoulders slump, "Oh no."

 ***

The day rushes past in a blur. I have tried texting her several times throughout work, but she doesn't respond to my texts.

Yes, you guessed right, it's that same cafe shop.

"Lyanna. Come on, it's time to go," I hear Riri's voice from the counter.

I sigh deeply, cleaning off the last table, "I'll be done in a few minutes."

 "Hurry up," she says.

I thin my lips, finally finishing the last table, "I'm done," I dispose of the materials I used in cleaning the table, then walk back to the counter, taking off my apron.

"You're finally getting better with interactions, Lyanna. Good job," she pats my shoulder.

I roll my eyes, "I'm just calm for now. If any of those guys try giving me a pain in my neck, I'll double it for them, I don't give a damn," I straighten my shoulders.

She shakes her head, "Go keep that apron before you leave. You're always forgetting it at my counter."

"Of course, of course," I pick up the apron, heading towards our storage facility.

After doing what I have to do, I walk out of the facility, ready to head home, only to notice that Riri is no longer at the counter.

She couldn't have left without me, right?

"Riri? Are you outside?" I call out, my eyes scanning the place.

"Riri?" I call out again, walking towards the door, which is unlocked.

Panic surges my veins for some reason, "Riri?" This time, it comes out as a whisper.

A whimper catches my attention, and I pause. I hear it again, as if it's calling for me.

Without thinking, I rush to the counter to check if it's coming from there, and my jaw drops.

Riri is lying on the pool of her blood, almost lifeless. Still in shock, my eyes land on it– the wolf besides her body.

Riri is whimpering, trying to call for help, but I stand there still frozen by the counter, my head trying to process what's happening.

The wolf must have smelled me standing by because it eventually turns in my direction.

 This unfortunate monster!

Without thinking, I grab a chair that is nearby, and lunge it at the wolf, but the monster snaps the chair into two before it reaches it.

 Oh crap.

"My dream came to pass. I knew it, I wasn't making it up," I whisper, stepping backwards, and at the same time thinking of what else to distract the wolf, and save Riri.

Seemingly annoyed, the monster jumps over the counter, and without warning, it charges at me!

 Use your god-damned magic!

"Sparkle..." A force pushes me from the point I am standing on, causing me to fly across the room.

I land on a table, it breaks and we both crash on the hard cold floor.

"Ah," I whimper, trying to hide myself from the wolf before I can think of something else, but the maddening growls, and grunts of the damned creature days otherwise, it still sees me.

I dig my teeth into my lower lip, ready to still attack it with my magic.

Flicking my finger, I scream at the top of my lungs, "Sparkle dust!"

Hopefully, that should attract other faes from outside. Not trusting any wolf right now.

A howl shakes the whole room, as the dust does land on it!

Phew, my dream didn't see that coming.

As it still writhes in pain, I crawl out of the debris of the table, get to my feet, and run towards the counter.

Riri is still lying down there, but now she's completely knocked out.

Make her lightweight! Make her lightweight!

"Yes, lightweight," I nod, fidgeting, and racking my head for the spell.

I close my eyes, channelling all my energy to my fingers as I mutter the spell.

"Venti errantes, leves et liberi,

Nunc pondus vestrum ad me ferte.

Forma Riri, tam velox et levis,

Variat ut umbrae, mollis ut nox. Per aera et stellas et preces susurratas,

Sic natabit, sic fiat."

Riri's body begins to float in the air.

It worked!

Swiftly, I carry her body, rushing to the door. Since I used a spell on her, she is as light as a feather.

As I reach the door, about to run out. A stinging pain shoots throughout my leg. I yelp, and in the pain of that moment, I let go of her body.

I turn to see the wolf's fangs sinking into my legs, and then, in one swift motion, I'm knocked to the ground, pinned underneath its massive frame.

"Ahh!" I yell, "Help! Somebody help me!" I scream as loud as I can.

Unfortunately for me, this part of town is usually secluded once it's nearing dusk, as everyone wants to be at a bar, or a club, or making out by some fucking trees, but at least there has to someone?

"Spar..kle.." I try to wrench those words out of my mouth, but it strikes me across the face, tearing my flesh with it paws.

Another screams escapes my mouth.

I try to kick, punch, scratch, I try everything, but the power of this monster is just incredible, I can't even move.

"Help!!' I give another desperate cry for help.

My eyes are going heavy, and my face is bleeding horribly, pricking my whole body.

Then–

Another much louder growl rips the air, and the wolf over me is knocked to the side.

Groans, and howls fill the air, and the ground shakes my already weak body.

My head goes blurry, but I still try to fight to stand on my feet, "Riri!" I gasp, my eyes still betraying my ability to open them.

"Lyanna!" A familiar voice screams, resembling that of Irene's.

"Lyanna, can you hear me?"

I try to respond but my body has gone completely numb, so I just slump.

Stupid body, stand up!

It goes black.
