Scene 1 — Descent into the Unknown
The Third Gate was unlike the others — it didn't open with force, Qi, or even touch.
Instead, it responded to acceptance.
"To pass, you must welcome what you fear most," Yun Shen whispered.
Lin Xun nodded.
His Rootless Blade shimmered, not with light, but shadow — echoes of all the truths he had denied, severed, or hidden.
He stepped forward.
The gate did not open.
It disappeared.
And they fell.
Scene 2 — The Chamber of Origins
They landed in a vast subterranean chamber. In its center was a throne of silver roots, and upon it sat a corpse — draped in stars, its face covered by a veil.
All around them, giant fragments of memory floated like shattered glass: images of different Lin Xuns, different paths, endless what-ifs.
"What… is this place?" Lin Xun murmured.
Yun Shen knelt briefly.
"This is the Core Grave."
"Where the Heaven-Sundered Sutra was first written."
The corpse on the throne stirred.
Not in body, but in consciousness.
A voice — not heard, but felt — emerged:
"You who bear the Rootless Path…"
"Are you ready to see the first truth?"
Scene 3 — Revelation: The Fragmented Soul
A storm of visions engulfed Lin Xun.
He saw seven fragments of a once-godly soul, each flung across space and time:
One became a warlord.
One became a monk.
One became a beast.
One became a tree.
One became a sword.
One became a Sutra.
And one… became him.
He screamed.
But did not break.
"I am not your echo," he said through gritted teeth.
"I am not your heir. I am your end."
The corpse on the throne smiled faintly beneath its veil.
Scene 4 — Inheritance Denied
The throne room shifted.
Runes emerged beneath Lin Xun's feet, forming a ritual of succession.
Yun Shen's eyes widened.
"They're trying to make you the next bearer… the next God Fragment! If you accept, you lose yourself!"
The voice asked one final time:
"Will you ascend, and become the mind of the Sutra once more?"
Lin Xun's Rootless Blade trembled. It began to shatter — not physically, but philosophically — unable to coexist with what he was being asked to become.
He drove it into the ritual circle.
"I choose death before design."
A flash of light. Silence.
And then…
Rejection.
The entire Grave recoiled.
Scene 5 — Birth of the Unwritten Path
The throne shattered.
The corpse crumbled into dust, returning its divine essence to the Grave.
And where Lin Xun stood, the ritual runes warped — not completing a cycle, but breaking it.
In his hands, the Rootless Blade reforged itself into something new:
A blade of ink and silence — a Conceptual Weapon, not bound by law or Qi, but by idea.
"What is it called?" Yun Shen asked.
"I don't know," Lin Xun replied, voice hoarse.
"It has no name. Because I haven't written it yet."
Above them, the Grave began to collapse — not in ruin, but rebirth.
They fled up through the ceiling of roots.
Scene 6 — Surface
They emerged under morning sky.
The upside-down trees were gone.
The ash was gone.
The air smelled of rain.
Yun Shen sighed.
"You ended the Grave."
"Do you understand what that means?"
Lin Xun nodded slowly.
"It means the Heaven-Sundered Sutra is no longer watching me."
"I am watching it."
In his palm glowed a single fragment of the Sutra — now blank.
A page waiting to be written.
