Chapter 66: The Female Corpse at the Bottom of the Water

It was unknown how resilient the hair was, but no matter how resilient it was, it couldn't withstand the surgical knife, which was a supernatural weapon.

After these strands of hair were cut off, they flew back to the bottom of the river like severed tentacles, disappearing without a trace.

Fang Xiu felt a surge of anger. He hated such eerie phenomena the most—not only did they play tricks, but they fled immediately after being struck once, depriving him of the pleasure of savagely killing them.

Without a moment's hesitation, Fang Xiu dived headfirst into the riverbed. With his spiritual essence activated, his movements were as agile as a fish.

Using the vision granted by his blood-red eyes, he followed the direction the hair had retracted.

Finally, upon reaching the lake bottom, he beheld the creature's true form.

It was a female corpse!

A corpse clad in white robes, its skin swollen and pale. Its face was unrecognizable, having long since swollen and rotted away.

Even its eyeballs had rotted, leaving only two black, empty sockets.

The corpse had a head of thick, lustrous black hair, which was extremely long, floating at the bottom of the water, spreading out, constantly twisting, and from a distance, it resembled a dense nest of snakes.

Fang Xiu's eyes grew increasingly excited, and the eerie blood-red eye began to faintly glow with a blood-red light.

He charged directly toward the corpse.

Perhaps his actions angered the corpse, as it suddenly opened its mouth—which had long since lost its lips—and emitted a deep, muffled roar.

Her hair, resembling thousands of water snakes, coiled and slithered toward Fang Xiu.

Fang Xiu's movements were restricted in the water, and he couldn't possibly cut through all the hair with just a scalpel. However, he showed no signs of panic, and an eerie blood-red glow emanated from his right eye.

Under the glow of the blood-red light, the female corpse seemed to be struck by a heavy hammer, emitting a piercing scream. The hair that had been overwhelmingly attacking him suddenly retracted as if startled, resembling the retraction of an octopus's tentacles.

Taking advantage of the corpse's moment of pain, Fang Xiu grew increasingly excited. He swam forward with all his strength, directly reaching the corpse's front.

By now, he was slightly oxygen-deprived, feeling a mild dizziness in his head, but he did not stop. The eerie sight was right before him, and he had to make the other party feel the pain.

The female corpse seemed to sense the approaching danger, extending her swollen, pale, eerie hand, her expression distorted as she reached out to grab Fang Xiu.

But Fang Xiu didn't care. The excitement in his eyes was almost tangible, and the calm expression on his face had vanished, replaced by an involuntary twisted grin.

The next moment, the female corpse suddenly clamped its hands around Fang Xiu's neck, like iron clamps, cold and hard.

A piercing pain and suffocating sensation washed over him.

But this not only failed to stop Fang Xiu's actions; it only served to make his expression even more ferocious and terrifying.

Swish!

Fang Xiu swung the scalpel in his hand with all his might, the sharp blade slicing through the corpse's forehead like cutting through tofu, sliding downward with ease.

The forehead, brow, nasal bone, and mouth all split open, forming wounds several centimeters deep.

Fang Xiu even saw the rotting brain and white bones within the wounds.

With the enhancement of the pain ability, the female corpse couldn't even utter a scream, her body convulsing violently as if electrocuted.

The hands that had been choking her neck instinctively let go.

Watching the female corpse's agonized expression, Fang Xiu grew increasingly excited. He didn't give the female corpse any time to recover and struck again!

This strike was a horizontal cut.

It directly formed a cross on the female corpse's face.

Anyone who has cut a watermelon knows that after making a horizontal cut followed by a vertical cut, the watermelon will scatter like a flower blooming.

The female corpse's head was now in the same state.

To spare the corpse's life, Fang Xiu had even been considerate enough not to use too much pain-inducing power, instead wanting the other party to feel it slowly.

Unfortunately, as the second cut landed, the corpse's previously twitching body suddenly stopped moving, seeming to have truly become a lifeless body.

Dead? Could such a bizarre entity capable of moving rivers be so fragile?

Before Fang Xiu could react, the female corpse's hair suddenly seemed to come to life, instantly detaching from her head like a floating black sphere. It shot off into the distance with a whoosh, disappearing in an instant.

Seeing this, a cold gleam flashed in Fang Xiu's eyes. He realized that the female corpse was not the true form of the strange entity—it was the hair.

He wanted to chase after it, but he had reached his limit. The suffocating sensation grew more unbearable, and the dizziness in his head intensified. Reluctantly, he had to return to the water.

Plop!

Fang Xiu broke through the surface.

Shen Lingxue and the others hurriedly looked over. Upon seeing it was Fang Xiu, they sighed in relief. However, upon noticing the deep red handprint on his neck, their expressions turned worried.

"Brother Xiu, are you okay? What about the strange entity?" Zhao Hao asked urgently.

Fang Xiu did not respond immediately. Instead, he took several deep breaths before recovering slightly and saying, It escaped. The strange creature's true form seems to be hair."

"Hair?"

"Don't say any more for now. While the strange creature is escaping, let's try to get ashore quickly!" Shen Lingxue said anxiously.

The group nodded and swam toward the shore.

This time, the shore did not retreat as it had before but remained stationary.

Soon, Fang Xiu and the others dragged Liu Shuai, who was as limp as a dead dog, onto the shore.

After reaching the shore, they didn't stop but ran a good distance away from the shore before finally catching their breath.

"Save him first!" Shen Lingxue ordered, then began continuously pressing on Liu Shuai's chest until he coughed up several mouthfuls of icy river water, at which point she stopped.

However, Liu Shuai remained unconscious, his face pale.

"Liu Shuai needs artificial respiration. Who will do it?" Shen Lingxue's gaze flickered between Fang Xiu and Zhao Hao.

Fang Xiu remained expressionless, while Zhao Hao was horrified. He looked at the fat man's plump lips and felt it would be better to eat shit.

"Why aren't you doing it?" Zhao Hao asked directly.

Shen Lingxue sneered, "Don't you know that men and women shouldn't touch each other? You two are men, so why should I do it?"

"But men can touch each other, right?" Zhao Hao shook his head violently, every hair on his body bristling with resistance.

At that moment, Fang Xiu walked toward Liu Shuai.

A flash of surprise crossed Shen Lingxue's eyes, while Zhao Hao was utterly shocked. He wanted to say something, but feared Fang Xiu might force him to kiss the fat man, so he ultimately held his tongue.

Just as everyone thought Fang Xiu was about to perform mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, unexpectedly—

Smack!

Fang Xiu delivered a hard slap to the fat man's face.

The fat man let out a piercing scream and sprang to his feet.

"Ouch, who hit me!"

"He's awake already!?" Zhao Hao was speechless.

Shen Lingxue's expression darkened as she glared at the fat man with a dangerous look and said, "Were you faking unconsciousness just now?"

The fat man immediately protested, "What do you mean faking unconsciousness? What are you talking about? I really passed out."
