Field Trip

To congratulate the students for finishing their first exams, Baekho High School organized a field trip to the countryside.

[Your next mission has arrived!

Mission: Please accompany the students going on a field trip.]

It has been quite a long time since the system sent the last mission. If he had to accompany the students, it must mean that something big was going to happen. Maybe the students were in danger?

Since he arrived in this world, everything has changed. The original content of the novel wasn't that helpful anymore. Was this what they called the butterfly effect? Was he being helpful after he transmigrated?

Valentin called the principal of the school and asked if he could join them on the school trip.

"Of course! It would be an honour for you to tag along. Will you be okay in the countryside?" the principal asked. He was worried since he couldn't imagine Valentin living on the outskirts of the city. Normally, rich people were against the idea of living like peasants.

"I'll be fine. Don't worry."

Valentin might be from a rich family, but he knew how to do housework. Since he was young, his parents were rarely home, so he had to do everything by himself. He had maids to take care of him, but he wanted to learn what they did. He was accustomed to the fact that people won't always stay with him. That's why he could only rely on himself.

He remembered that he would often go to his grandparents' house in the summer. It was the only time of the year when he was happy. He didn't have to worry about his studies or the coldness of his parents. In contrast to his parents, his grandparents were warm. They always welcomed him when he came to the countryside.

His grandparents had a farm. Valentin would help them manage the farm, and he learned a lot from doing that. At that age, he didn't know why his parents didn't visit them. He thought that they were too busy. As he grew up, he understood that his parents looked down on them. They were ashamed of their background. That's why they flew to the big city.

When he got into high school, he realized that he would never see his grandparents again. They had passed away without a sound. He was the only relative at the funeral. His parents said that they were too busy to attend. At that time, he was furious at his parents.

As he grew older, he learned to be as cold as his parents. He didn't want to have any connections with them. He studied law and became a judge to prove that he was better than them.

The night before the field trip, Seojin packed his suitcase cheerfully. He was overjoyed when he knew that his Hyung would be accompanying them. It would be the best trip that he had ever had. Seeing that the kid was so excited, Valentin smiled. He was glad that the trip would clear the kid's mind from his studies and his parents' deaths.

Early the next morning, the students and teachers met at the school and took the bus. Tired, the students continued to sleep. Valentin was sitting in the front with the other teachers. As the sun shone brightly through the bus, the kids started to wake up. They took out their snacks and shared them with their friends.

After six hours, they finally saw the place where they were resting. The chalet was situated on top of the mountains near the ocean. It was a small village where the villagers enjoyed the gentle breeze of the ocean. The students opened the windows of the bus and gasped a breath of fresh air. It smelled salty and fresh.

The students rushed out of the bus, feeling like their buttocks were about to fall off. They carried their luggage inside the chalet and chose their rooms. After everyone had freshened up and finished unpacking, it was time to prepare lunch.

"Since it's your first time in the countryside, we wanted to let you experience life here," one of the teachers said.

"You will have to find your ingredients for your lunch. There's a small market near the chalet. You will use the pocket money we gave you to buy your food," the teacher continued.

Hearing that they had to cook for themselves, some of the students complained, while some were excited for a new experience. Normally, kids from rich families never had to cook.

Accompanied by Ji-a, Seojin headed to the market. Valentin also followed the students, since he volunteered to cook on the teacher's side. He had nothing to do, and he didn't like eating the food other people cooked.

After finishing buying the ingredients, the students started a fire hesitantly. Feeling that it might be dangerous, Valentin showed them how to start a fire with the wood and a fire match.

The students coughed loudly as the smoke rose. There were only a few students who knew how to cook. The others all burnt their food. The teachers watched closely as Valentin started to cook. They were curious about his cooking skills. It was rare to see a young master cook.

The teachers gulped their saliva as the smell of grilled lobster filled their nostrils. Since they were near the ocean, Valentin thought that it was the perfect chance to eat more seafood. He also cooked some shrimps, vegetables and beef.

The students looked at the teachers with envy. They wished they had a great cook on their side as well. Seeing that the student side only had a few dishes ready, Valentin picked a few students who had a little talent in cooking and showed them step by step how to use their ingredients.

After they finished cooking, the students also had a few plates of seafood ready. They sat on the long picnic tables and gulped down the food, accompanied by steaming rice. After all the work and bus riding, they were famished. They never realized that food was so good.

The next day, they went to fish on a ship. They even got to eat the fish they caught, all thanks to Valentin's knife skills. For the next few days, they went scuba diving, learning how to farm and did all kinds of water sports.

Despite their complaining at first, the students got used to the countryside and were reluctant to leave. It was a new experience for Seojin, he got to do so many new activities. Seeing that Seojin was happy, Valentin reminded himself to take the kid on a trip again sometimes.

Cooking every day, Valentin was getting tired. It was too much work to do. Thankfully, he transmigrated into a younger body.

The field trip ended, and they returned on the bus and headed back to the bustling city.

'Weird,' Valentin thought. Nothing dangerous had happened yet; what was the system trying to say? Valentin shook his head and looked outside the window attentively. The system won't be wrong about something like that. He should stay alert.
