[Congratulations, you have completed your mission!
Reward: Locate (1 time use only)
Description: Locate anything you want, the system will find it in no time!]
Valentin sighed. Originally, he thought something dangerous was going to happen at the dating show. That's why he went there. If he knew that the island was safe, he wouldn't have gone on the show.
'What will happen if I don't complete a mission?' Valentin asked the system. He was curious to know the answer.
[You will be punished severely. Most likely, your bank account will be frozen for a while.]
Valentin took his words back. He was wrong about saying that he shouldn't have completed the mission. The infinite wealth he possessed was what enabled him to survive in this strange world. He couldn't imagine what would happen if he didn't have that money because he wouldn't be able to use the system.
After the filming for the dating show ended, Seojin and Valentin returned to their everyday lives as if nothing had happened. Seojin would often reminisce about their kiss, but he was afraid to address the subject. He wanted to know what kind of relationship he had with Valentin. Were they lovers? Seeing that the judge was busy with his work, Seojin also drowned in his homework. It was almost exam season, and he had to do well, as always.
Valentin waited for Winter's news patiently. When he met Ivan at the cafe, he told him that the case was still not solved. They didn't know where the kids had been taken.
During the afternoon, Valentin tried to call Winter, but she didn't respond. Maybe she was too busy trying to find the children. She'll call him back when she has time.
At night, when Valentin and Seojin were sleeping soundly, someone knocked on the door loudly.
"Who is knocking at this hour?" Valentin grumbled and got off his bed. Seeing Seojin coming out of his room too, Valentin told him to go back to sleep since he had school the next day.
Valentin peeped at the security camera and saw an old grandma in front of his apartment. It was the one that kidnapped a child, thinking that it was his grandson. Wasn't she supposed to be at the psychiatric hospital? What was she doing here?
The judge opened the door cautiously, worried that the granny might attack him. You never know what a person with a mental illness could do. As soon as Valentin opened the door, the granny fell onto her knees and begged, "Please, save my grandson! He's in danger!"
The granny cried and pulled on Valentin's pants. She knew that the man had the power to save his grandson. She knew that her grandson trusted him because the judge had saved him last time.
Valentin helped the granny get on her feet and tried to talk to her.
"Where is your grandson? Why does he need help?" Valentin tried to ask, but the granny was already in hysterics, murmuring her grandson's name.
The judge guessed that something must have happened to the kid he saved last time. But how did the granny know about this?
'What's happening?' Valentin asked the system.
[The granny sensed that her grandson was in danger, so she escaped from the hospital. When she arrived at the scene, she saw a black-robed figure kidnapping the child. They disappeared in thin air. Then, she rushed to your house, hoping that you could save the child.]
If the kidnapper was still on the run, it meant that Winter and Nikolai still hadn't solved the case.
[Your next mission has arrived!
Mission: Save the kidnapped children.]
Valentin sighed; he was going to be busy again. He thought that Winter and Nikolai alone would be able to take care of the missing cases. But it seemed like it wasn't an easy task. They were the best assassins after all. The mastermind behind these kidnappings wasn't an easy target.
After Valentin promised the granny that he would save her grandson, he called the psychiatric hospital to tell them that their patient was in front of his house.
Early the next morning, Valentin received a call from Nikolai. The judge wasn't expecting him to call. Normally, he always communicated with Winter instead of Nikolai because he didn't feel comfortable around him.
"We need your help," Nikolai said as soon as Valentin took the call.
"What happened?" Valentin asked. He had a bad feeling when he couldn't reach Winter.
"They tried to ambush us and take the children away. A lot of our members are severely injured. Winter is still unconscious from her injuries. Thankfully, none of the kids were taken away. But I'm certain that they will strike back soon because they know that we are at our weakest state," Nikolai explained.
"What do you want me to help with?" Valentin asked.
"We need a lot of medical equipment and medicine."
"I'll be here soon," Valentin reassured Nikolai. The judge still couldn't believe that the great Nikolai would lose against someone else.
Valentin asked his guards to go to Haneul Hospital and take the things Nikolai wanted. Then, he drove to their hideout. It was in the countryside, out of the city. They had hidden themselves on a farm that was Nikolai's property.
As Valentin opened the door, a strong metallic scent filled his nose. Mixed with the humidity, the smell was repugnant. The injured assassins were lined up on the floor and covered in bandages. They were all severely injured. The children rushed around the room, cleaning their wounds with wet towels.
Valentin approached Nikolai, who was sitting beside Winter's bed. He had been watching over her since she was heavily injured by the intruders. They didn't have the best relationship, but they had the same goal, so they looked out for each other. They understood what it felt like to lose everything and to be treated as mere tools.
"You are here," Nikolai said, looking up at Valentin with his tired eyes. He always smiled like a freak whenever they met, but this time he was quiet. They suffered too much damage, and Nikolai didn't even know if some of the members would be able to survive.
Winter was bandaged from head to toe, so Valentin didn't know how severe her wounds were.
"How is Winter doing?" the judge asked.
"Not good, she has a lot of gun wounds, and she used her power too much. I don't even know if she is going to survive."
"I brought the things you asked me."
Nikolai forced a smile and thanked him, "Thank you, but I don't think that this is going to be enough to save them." Nikolai brought his hands to his face, massaging his temple. He should've protected Winter better. What was he going to do now? He couldn't fight their enemy without Winter. They made a promise that they were going to succeed together.
Valentin stared at Winter again. It would be a shame if she died. What would the children do without her?
'System, is it possible to heal them all?' Valentin asked.
[Of course, it is. With money, you can do anything!]
Hesitating, Valentin didn't know if he should use the system's power in front of Nikolai. The ruthless assassin would surely suspect him. But he had to save Winter because she was a nice person.
Suddenly, a flashy light blinded the whole farm.
[The system has taken 10 billion dollars out of your account.
Current balance: ∞ ]
'Why couldn't you make it less obvious?' Valentin asked the system.
[Hehehe, isn't it beautiful? As the system's host, you have to be proud of its powers!]
The assassins who had light injuries were shocked when they saw that their wounds were gone. They thought that their leader had healed them since they knew he had special powers. Shocked, Nikolai watched his members getting up from their beds as they weren't attacked.
Nikolai stared at Valentin, suspecting that he was the one who did it. He knew that the judge wasn't a normal person. Where did he get his powers? Was he a test subject too? Or was he close to the founder of the village? How else would he have gotten his superpowers?
Sensing Nikolai's suspicious gaze, Valentin's red eyes peered into him. How dare he look at him as if he were the enemy?
"Who are you?" Nikolai asked. He wanted to know if Valentin could be trusted. The judge had helped them before, but it might be a ruse to get their trust.
"Don't worry, I'm on your side," Valentin replied. It must have shocked him to know that there were people who had superpowers like theirs, too.
"How did you get your powers?"
"You shouldn't ask too much," Valentin warned him. He didn't have to tell Nikolai the truth because he didn't deserve it. Valentin hasn't forgotten that Nikolai had tried to hurt Seojin. He only agreed to work with the assassin because Winter asked him to.
Knowing that he had overstepped the boundaries, Nikolai didn't ask anymore. He should be thankful that his teammates were healed.
"Valentin, what are you doing here? It's dangerous," Winter murmured weakly. How was she still alive? The bullets had touched her vitals; there was no way that she could have lived.
Nikolai helped her up as he explained the situation to her. After hearing that Valentin had saved their lives, Winter bowed and apologized, "I'm sorry. We said that we could handle the kidnapping cases, but we were too arrogant. Sorry for making you come all this way."
