🕯️ Location: Nevada Black Site – Perimeter Zone – 02:11 AM
The desert was dead silent. No wind. No sound. Just the suffocating weight of knowing one wrong step could turn this mission into a grave.
Liana lay prone atop a sandstone ridge, peering through her sniper scope. Below, in the valley, sat the Black Site—an underground facility hidden beneath what looked like an abandoned mining complex. But she knew better. Infrared scans revealed heat signatures, security drones, and men with guns. Lots of them.
Beside her, Daniel adjusted his binoculars, scanning the perimeter. His jaw was clenched tight, eyes cold. Focused.
— "No easy way in," he muttered. "Full thermal coverage. Automated turrets. Motion sensors. Whoever's in there... they don't want company."
Liana tapped her earpiece, voice razor-sharp.
— "Shadow team, report."
A crackle. Then Raven's voice.
— "East flank secure. No patrols within 200 meters. Drone jammer online."
Then Blaze chimed in.
— "South entry is a no-go. Too heavily fortified. Best bet... the ventilation shaft. Northwest quadrant. But it's a tight squeeze."
Liana's eyes narrowed.
— "Copy. We go in quiet. No alarms. No mistakes."
Daniel glanced at her, his voice lower.
— "Li... you sure about this? About her?"
Her jaw tightened.
— "I have to be. If there's even a chance..." She couldn't finish. Couldn't say it out loud. The thought of her sister being alive—and possibly turned into a weapon by the Syndicate—was a wound deeper than anything else.
Daniel didn't push further. Instead, he checked his rifle, loading a fresh mag.
— "Then let's get her back. Or die trying."
---
Operation Begins
The ventilation shaft was barely wide enough. Liana crawled first, Daniel close behind, with Raven and Blaze securing their extraction route.
Every scrape of metal echoed in her ears. Her breathing felt too loud. Her heartbeat even louder. But after ten agonizing minutes—they were in.
A utility corridor. Dark. Empty. Smelling of oil and electricity.
Liana drew her suppressed pistol, signaling Daniel forward.
— "Server room's down this hall. We tap the security feed, confirm her location, then move."
They advanced. Shadows wrapped around them like a second skin. One guard. Silent takedown. Another. Knife between the ribs. No sound. No mercy.
Inside the server room, Daniel worked fast, fingers dancing over the keyboard. Lines of code scrolled. Cameras flicked open one by one.
Then—there she was.
Cell Block D. Room 7. A girl—mid-twenties. Long dark hair. Chained. Eyes swollen, but defiant. It was her.
Liana's breath caught. Her hands trembled.
— "S-Sophia..."
Daniel looked at her, voice softening.
— "It's her, Li. It's really her."
But before relief could settle, the feed glitched. A warning popped up:
> "Intrusion Detected. Countermeasures Engaged."
Red alarms blared. Lights snapped on. Steel doors slammed shut.
Daniel cursed.
— "We're burned. Move, NOW!"
---
All Hell Breaks Loose
Gunfire exploded from every direction. Syndicate soldiers stormed the corridors, clad in tactical armor, faces hidden behind mirrored visors.
Liana rolled into cover, firing. Headshot. Another. Chest shot. Daniel flanked left, dropping two with brutal efficiency.
From her comm:
— "Raven to team. Extraction's compromised! They're swarming the perimeter!"
Blaze cut in.
— "We hold for ten minutes max. After that... we're dead."
Liana gritted her teeth.
— "We don't leave without Sophia. Cover me!"
She sprinted down the corridor, Daniel right behind. Bullets zipped past, slicing the air. Metal sparked. Blood sprayed.
Reaching Cell Block D was a nightmare. Turrets descended from the ceiling. Liana slid under one, firing a grenade round—BOOM. Shrapnel shredded metal and flesh alike.
She slammed into Room 7's door. Locked. No time for codes. She planted C4, clicked the detonator—
— "Clear!"
BOOM. Door blasted open.
Inside, Sophia flinched, shielding her face. Her eyes widened when she saw Liana.
— "You... it's... it's really you..." her voice cracked, barely above a whisper.
Liana dropped to her knees, cutting the chains. Hands trembling.
— "Soph... I've got you. I've got you. You're safe now."
Sophia collapsed into her arms, sobbing. But the moment was short-lived.
Daniel yelled from the hall—
— "MOVE! They've got heavies inbound!"

The Betrayal
Just as they reached the evac point, a figure stepped out of the shadows. Tall. Broad. Wearing Syndicate command armor.
Liana froze.
— "No... it can't be."
The figure removed their helmet.
A familiar face. Someone they trusted.
Blaze.
His smirk was cold, cruel.
— "Sorry, boss. Orders are orders."
Daniel's voice was thunder.
— "You... you traitorous son of a—"
Blaze raised his rifle—
— "This was never about saving anyone. It was about luring you here. You, Liana. And her." He nodded toward Sophia. "She's not who you think she is."
Sophia's eyes widened, shaking her head.
— "No... it's not true. Don't listen to him!"
Liana's grip on her gun tightened.
— "Try me, Blaze. Pull that trigger. Let's see who dies first."
Tension thicker than blood. Fingers on triggers. A heartbeat away from hell.
But then—gunfire. Not from Blaze. From behind him. His eyes went wide—three bullets punched through his chest.
He dropped. Dead.
A new voice. From the shadows. Smooth. Dark. Dangerous.
— "Took you long enough to find her."
A figure stepped forward. A woman. Leather-clad. Scars on her face. Emerald eyes sharp as blades.
— "Name's Iris. And if you want to survive... you're gonna need me."
---
Escape or Death
With Iris leading, the team blasted their way out. Sophia, weak but determined, clung to Liana.
Explosions. Bullets. Blood. Every second a fight for breath.
At the evac point, Raven roared the engine of the dropship.
— "Get in! Get in now!"
Liana shoved Sophia aboard, then turned, covering Daniel and Iris as they sprinted behind her.
The ship lifted—just as missiles streaked toward them. One clipped the tail—BOOM—warning lights screamed.
Daniel gripped the console.
— "Hold together... hold together..."
The ship shuddered but didn't fall. They were out. Barely.

Aftermath – Safehouse, 03:42 AM
Liana sat on the floor, staring at Sophia. Her hands trembled.
— "Tell me... everything. No more lies. No more secrets."
Sophia's lips quivered. Tears welled.
— "I... I didn't want you to find me. Not like this. Not knowing... what they did to me."
Daniel crossed his arms.
— "Start talking. Who the hell are you really running from... and why does the Syndicate want you back so badly?"
Iris lit a cigarette, leaning against the wall.
— "Buckle up, kids. You've just stepped into a war you don't even understand yet."
