Chapter 28: A Gold-rank item?!

"It's incredible. I didn't expect Moon Stones to actually be formed from this rock!" Brock exclaimed in amazement as he examined the meteorite in his hands, freshly surrounded by newly formed Moon Stones.

"If we could take control of this entire meteorite, I'd have a monopoly on Moon Stones in the future!" Ash's eyes sparkled with excitement as he stared at the massive rock, his mind already racing with ideas.

But then he glanced at Brock and Rick beside him and sighed. "Let's rest for now. And besides… removing this meteorite might not be good for the Clefairy. Leaving it here is probably the right thing to do."

Later that evening, after setting up camp, Rick returned to the Pewter City Museum. He had only come for a day trip and didn't need to stay overnight. Once the tent was pitched, Ash released his Pokémon and let them enjoy the meal Brock had prepared.

Ash had to admit—Brock's cooking skills were amazing. His Pokémon devoured the food happily, and Ash couldn't help but feel he'd made the right choice in inviting Brock to travel with him.

"System, I want to draw!" Ash murmured softly after lying down in the tent. Pikachu was already fast asleep beside him. Closing his eyes, Ash entered the system space—a familiar void, endless and silent, like a blank world.

In front of him appeared the slot machine once again, though this time its appearance had changed: gold, black, red, blue, and white panels replaced the usual colors. Notably, the green panel—the one that indicated a jackpot—was gone, disappointing Ash.

"System, if I cancel the draw now and come back tomorrow, will the model change?" he asked.

Ding~!

[Once the lottery interface is generated, it will not change unless a draw is completed and attribute points are consumed.]

So much for that idea. Ash had hoped he could reset the machine for a better chance, but the system wasn't going to make it easy.

Resigned, Ash pulled the lever four times in a row. The lights on the slot machine spun rapidly—so fast he couldn't even see the symbols.

"A Gold-rank item?! The Mangekyō Sharingan!" Ash was stunned. He had five attribute points and used four for this draw, planning to save the last one. He'd expected nothing but White-tier junk—but then came the golden glow. He could hardly believe his luck.

Ash reviewed his updated stats and realized something amazing—the Sharingan had fused with his Aura abilities. It made sense. The Sharingan could naturally observe cell movement and subtle details. Merging with Aura Sight gave it new depth, evolving into a unique fusion exclusive to him.

More surprisingly, his Aura abilities had finally awakened—and the system confirmed that the Sharingan now used Aura energy in place of chakra. In other words, Aura had become the equivalent of chakra in this crossover system.

Of course, it wasn't like the anime version of Aura. He couldn't speak to Pokémon directly—at most, he could faintly sense their emotions and intent.

Still, Ash could now use Aura Sphere, and the power wasn't bad at all.

But what thrilled him most was the Mangekyō Sharingan. A top-tier bloodline ability from the world of Naruto… and now, it was his.

"Activate the Sharingan!" Ash shouted.

His once-red pupils deepened into a darker, scarlet hue. The three tomoe began to spin rapidly in his eyes—then, they expanded outward, forming a windmill-shaped pattern.

"This… this is Uchiha Itachi's Mangekyō Sharingan," Ash muttered, feeling the surge of information flow into his mind. The ability matched perfectly with what he knew of Itachi's Sharingan from the world of Naruto.

Uchiha Itachi, a prodigy of the Naruto universe, possessed a Mangekyō Sharingan renowned for its terrifying power. Even the base Sharingan with three tomoe granted abilities such as enhanced perception, casting illusions (genjutsu), and copying techniques with perfect clarity.

But the Mangekyō Sharingan—evolved beyond the three tomoe—offered even more fearsome powers.

First was Tsukuyomi, an illusion so powerful it could trap a target in a dreamworld and subject them to seventy-two hours of torment… all within the span of a single moment.

Second was Amaterasu, a black flame said to burn as hot as the sun's core—impossible to extinguish and relentless until its target was completely incinerated.

And finally, there was Susanoo—the embodiment of both ultimate offense and defense. A massive spectral warrior formed by the user's chakra, wielding divine weapons and shielding the user with an impenetrable armor. In Naruto lore, Susanoo was a power rivaling that of gods.

Unfortunately, the Mangekyō Sharingan Ash had acquired could only manifest Susanoo in its mature form—not the perfect form. To unlock the complete version, he would need to obtain the Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan.

Despite its immense power, the Sharingan came with harsh limitations. Its continued use consumed pupil power—a resource tied directly to the user's eyesight. Prolonged usage, especially of the Mangekyō abilities, could eventually lead to blindness.

That meant Ash would primarily rely on the regular three-tomoe Sharingan. The Mangekyō would be used only in the most desperate situations.

Still, Ash had an edge: unlike traditional chakra, his Sharingan was powered by Aura—the life energy used in the Pokémon world. Since Aura was a natural force tied to his very being, rather than something cultivated like chakra, he hoped it would reduce the side effects of overusing the Sharingan.

After all, Aura was innate, while chakra was acquired through training. Only time—and use—would reveal whether this fusion truly came with fewer consequences.

Unable to sleep, Ash quietly left the tent and returned to the cavern where the Clefairy had danced. Standing before the massive meteorite that had created the Moon Stones, Ash activated his Sharingan again.

"As expected… the Sharingan can clearly perceive energy flow," he murmured. "In the Naruto world, the reason it could 'predict' enemy ninjutsu wasn't due to hand seals—it was because the Sharingan could detect elemental energy gathering around the target before they acted."

That's also how it copied techniques. The Sharingan stored traces of elemental energy using its visual prowess and pupil power. That meant it didn't need an affinity for a particular element to replicate it. That was how fire-wielding Uchiha could perform water and earth-style ninjutsu as well.

Now, standing here with this power in the Pokémon world, Ash realized: the Sharingan didn't just see… it understood.

And that opened up limitless possibilities.

TN:

A personal observation I caught—sometimes in this fic, Ash is referred to as Ash Oak (or with the 'Damu' surname), and other times as Ash Ketchum. 🤔 It seems like, at some point, his official name might have been changed to Ash Oak—like his mother—but for whatever reason, he still mostly goes by Ketchum.

Anyway, we'll almost always refer to him as Ash Ketchum, but just thought I'd drop this little fun fact. 😄📚
