chapter 6: Battle (3)

A translucent shield spread its full width between them as it displayed intricate patterns that looked like celestial symbols while glowing in brightness. The engravings on the shield emitted a mysterious light that fluctuated from brilliance to dimness in response to the blast's lingering energy. The shield displayed damage from the impact but the power dissipated from its edges while maintaining an unbroken form that proved its divine origin.

Her war armor reached the pinnacle of artistry through its auric metal plates, which joined seamlessly from her helm's crown to the sabatons that stabilized her in the vast reaches of space. The metal armor responded to her breath by moving slightly, and its surface contained ancient symbols which told tales about forgotten wars and unbreakable promises. The pauldrons stretched outward, resembling celestial wings while her cuirass appeared to be divine hand-carved.

Golden strands of her hair flowed through the vacuum space like an ethereal force while they twisted with the intensity of solar flares. The woman's eyes shone with the brilliance of twin stars their light cutting through shadows as she stared unblinkingly at the approaching ship. The gaze contained both anger and an enduring determination which had survived the fall of great nations and the destruction of planets.

The woman held a radiant deadly spear in her left hand which displayed the same celestial markings as her shield. The weapon emitted controlled strength while its sharp end reflected a light that warned all who attempted to face its owner. The atmosphere surrounding the weapon vibrated with a low electrical discharge which created an impression of battle-readiness.

< Unidentified bio life form detected.>

"Vayne… you shouldn't be here," Vitalis said in shock.

"That's now how you say thank you to the person who just saved your life, Vitalis." She responded, still keeping her eyes locked on the ship.

"You don't understand, this place isn't meant for us, our power is greatly weakened here as our connection to the world is hindered." Viitalis tried to explain.

"I know, but you didn't really expect us to sit by and watch you all die." She shot back

"Us?"

Vayne released a small smile as multiple figures appeared in front of him, each adorned with armour. Ready for battle.

The silver figure stared at the new holographic screen that had just appeared. 8 more figures had appeared. All displayed massive energy signatures, although noticeably smaller than the first two. They seemed to be conversing in that weird language of theirs. It couldn't let that happen.

4 lances of superheated plasma were launched at the group. Instantly appearing right before them, but the unexpected happened. One of the figures raised their hand, a ring of light expanding outwards, when it met the lances, their speed was reduced dramatically, slowing to a crawl.

The ship's system rang out. The figure was stunned; temporal dilation was no easy feat, seeing it easily being done by the figure was shocking to a great degree. The escort ship didn't have any defences to guard against temporal attacks except for its chrono-disruptor charges.

The figures didn't stop at slowing the lances. Vayne, the figure with a spear, raised her spear, gathering large amounts of mana into it, her hair combusting into red scorching flames. She raised it high above her head.

"COMET SPEAR." She shouted as she released the spear, launching it towards the ship.

The spear enlarged, combusting into flame, taking the form of a hurtling comet, it crushed the lances where they stood, but that didn't seem to slow it down at all; in fact, its speed seemed to increase as it appeared before the ship

But it might as well have been paper; the spear tore through the shield with ease, striking the nova cannons. A massive explosion occurred on the ship as the ship was pushed backwards.

Inside the command system, the silver was rapidly drowned in warning system panels, alarms blaring. With a swipe of a silver tentacle, the notifications disappeared.

A black cloud of nano-bots was deployed, surging towards the damaged area, immediately beginning repairs. But the groups weren't gonna give it time to complete it's repairs.

A figure stepped forward from the group, and the void quaked under the force of his uncontrolled power. The man's skin emitted a glowing light similar to molten embers while veins of liquid fire pulsed underneath. The two infernos that replaced his eyes blazed with white-hot fury resembling the power of an imploding star. The man wore a crown of flames around his head, giving him a regal look.

Without a shirt, his body displayed archaic tattoos that glowed with molten gold that pulsed with raw power. His rock-like muscles tightened when he reached his hand upward. The very fabric of existence seemed to split apart when he released his fingers.

The space above him began to distort and contort until it ripped open to reveal a pure solar fury singularity, which formed itself into being. The orb started as a small fist-sized object that contained condensed annihilation. The sphere expanded instantly as it devoured the blackness until it transformed into a miniature sun, which surged wildly with the power of a star's burning core.

"Solar flare." He said softly, bringing his hand down, pointing at the ship.

The mini sun followed his command, rushing towards the ship, its heat intense. The silver figure stared at the approaching sun, its thought unknown to anyone but itself. It pressed something. A purple force field quickly surrounded the ship.

< Teleportation drives activated.>

With a pop, the ship disappeared, effectively dodging the incoming sun, which exploded with extreme force, lighting up the surrounding darkness. The ship appeared further away beside the plannet, immediately launching a barrage of photon missiles at the figures.

Another figure stepped up, this time a female, her blue hair aking to waves. She raised her hands, conjuring a large amount of water covering the figure. The barrage slammed into the water shield, smothering the explosion, resulting in no damage done.

The figure from earlier, who had managed to slow time, stepped up, and he raised his hand facing the ship. His white hair was blowing in the vacuum, again defying the laws of physics. His white eyes shifted, clocks appearing, a trail of blood trickling down the side of his lip, staining his white beard.

"STOP!" he shouted.

And the time surrounding the ship ground to a halt, the ticking sound of clocks slowing down and then passing completely. Not wasting his time, Vitalis took his halberd, raised it above him, once again gathering large amounts of energy, more than he had ever gathered. With a scream, the halberd increased in size dramatically.

"REND!" he screamed into the voice

At that moment—everything tore apart.

The halberd fell, an arc of destructive energy, releasing from it's tip, rushing fowards with unstoppable momentum. Wherever it travelled, space cracked in two. It rushed towards the defenseless ship. Suddenly, small spheres exploded around the ship. Chrono disruptors. The spell on the ship shattered. The man who conjured it kneeling over coughing up blood. But it was too late the attack landed

The ship detonated, split in half. Its content spilling out. The ship groaned as multiple explosions took place. Gravity then began to work its magic, with the ship destroyed the ship began geeting sucked into the planet being pullled in by its gravity.

The figures stood there watching this scene completely drained. They scanned the ship with their divine senses looking for any signs of life only to find none.

"It's over…" Vitalis said keeling over. Removing Eliora from his subspace and clutching her. The rest quickly swarmed the two in concern.

"We need to get her to the spring of life quick." Vayne said.

Vatalis nodded. He raised his hand conjuring the last bits of his mana. A purple sphere covered the figures and with a pop, they vanished.
