Chapter 9: A Voice Without Sound

✦ The Divine Council

In the void between universes, where matter could not exist and time stood still, the Chamber of Judgment took form.

Seven radiant thrones of the Rulers burned with living flame, and thirteen jagged, shifting pillars surrounded them — thrones of the Monarchs, colder and older, shaped of broken stars and bone.

They had not gathered like this in an age.

But the second crack in the seal had changed that.

The first to speak was Razor Ion — Ruler of Flame and War, seated upon a throne of molten iron and swords.

"Graxunar's power fractured the seal. I felt it. We all did."

Obraen the Hollow, Monarch of Endless Despair, gave a hollow laugh.

"You act surprised. We unleashed a god and asked for mercy in return."

Queen Shyren, Monarch of Thorns, narrowed her eyes.

"And what lies beneath that seal has begun to wake."

High Ruler Seleron rose — draped in silver and starlight, his voice a low vibration through the void.

"We agreed Xandria must be destroyed. But we never authorized a force strong enough to shake the prison."

"Yet we sent him," Monarch Vexal hissed, eyes like fractured moons. "What did you think would happen?"

The council fractured into argument — voices overlapping, divine energies flaring.

A third eye opened in the darkness above them.

No one saw it.

No one noticed the subtle hum now echoing between the walls.

✦ Kael'thasar's Whisper

Within the seal, in a cathedral that had no walls, Kael'thasar watched the Council.

It had no form. No mouth. But it sang.

Not in sound — in thought.

And thought was enough.

It reached between their minds, laced their tempers with distraction, fed their pride, stoked their ancient rivalries. It did not control — that was too obvious. It merely... influenced.

One Monarch's doubt grew.

A Ruler's anger clouded reason.

Another lost their train of thought mid-sentence.

"They argue, as they always have," the Choir thought.

"Let them."

✦ False Calm

As quickly as it had flared, the Council's argument began to die down.

Ruler Varyn, guardian of order and law, folded his arms.

"Perhaps… we overreact."

"One crack does not mean collapse," added Monarch Sereth, calmly.

"The seal holds. The monsters sleep," said another.

Queen Shyren looked up, frowning — uncertain now, as if her own certainty had faded.

"Strange… I was sure…"

"We will not act in haste," declared Seleron.

"We wait," said Obraen. "And watch."

The decision was made.

The Divine Council dismissed itself.

None noticed the faint echo that lingered in the air — a tone without source, a whisper without voice.

✦ Beneath the Seal

Deep within the Veil, Kael'thasar smiled without a face.

"They wait. Let them wait. Let them wait until all light is gone."

And in the darkness beyond even his cathedral, other monsters began to stir.
