"Sister Grace…" Jin's voice turned incomprehensible. But before he let sorrow consume him any further, he swallowed hard, then turned his attention to the System Interface.
After a glance, he called upon his Dreamscape, an act which he previously couldn't do but now could.
OOOM!
The Door to the Myriad Heavens stood imposingly above Jin. Just the outer rim was lit up, yet according to the information transferred to him, that was enough to have his consciousness travel between worlds.
The 'worlds' in this sense were not limited to those within the vast Deep Sea Universe. No, this incorporated an expanse of space and territory far more boundless and impossible to understand.
"This world I was born in…" Jin left his Dreamscape, observing the ruined scenery and even the dystopian forest of metal beyond it. He felt it all to be so worthless in his eyes—not his home, not his future—not anything.
"Maybe in another world…"
Maybe in another world, he could find something more meaningful.
[Your Comprehension is Against the Heavens. By whimsically dreaming of a higher purpose, you have comprehended the Martial Art 'Journey of Self-Discovery'.]
Rather than exhibit surprise, Jin merely nodded. He already knew something like this would happen after the System's information was transferred over to him.
"Whether in the Main World or other worlds across the Myriad World's Gate, my Against-Heaven's Understanding grants me an unequaled level of comprehension. Even simple things will bring about epiphanies."
Now, even stepping onto the legendary path of an Evolver didn't seem like an impossibility.
"But right now, I refuse to stay in this world just to see if I can become an Evolver…" Jin's chest constricted upon taking another look at the devastation before him.
He decided right then and there that he needed a retreat from this cruel world.
FWIP!
Returning to his Dreamscape, Jin reached out his hand, just as instructed by the transferred information. As soon as his fingers came into contact with the giant cosmic gate, a huge eruption of starry light exploded outward, enveloping him and the endless sea in an instant.
…
In the World of Huaxia.
Spearseer Kingdom.
Yang Sect.
A young twelve-year-old boy sweeping the courtyard suddenly collapsed.
When he awoke, it was as if he had become an entirely different person.
"The World of Huaxia," the boy murmured, a splitting headache accompanying a large transfer of information. He quickly had his consciousness assimilated with the memories of the body he inhabited.
After some time, Jin collected himself and finished adjusting to this new body. As it was his first time descending with his consciousness, he naturally started off on a bumpy road—but it was okay now.
"A dad who used to be a prominent figure of the Spearseer Kingdom but died due to a scheme…"
"A mother who died after giving birth to me…"
"The widely recognized 'Wastrel' of the Yang Sect…"
Although Jin didn't have much free time in the Main World, he at least had access to the Internet. From various sites, he read books, among which included cultivation novels.
As such, he knew this plot to be that of a Main Character's Template. And he, as the incarnation of a different lifeform, had indirectly snatched up what should've belonged to the original "Yang Kai."
"Although I've taken your body for myself, I'll make sure not to let it go to waste." Jin made a promise both to the original owner and himself.
He didn't feel particularly bad about stealing a body. After all, no matter the world, it was the survival of the fittest—a lesson that hadn't been fully engraved into Jin's psyche until his arrival at the ruined chapel.
"No need to relive that moment again." He shook his head, reminding himself why he escaped to this world in the first place.
"According to the Infinite Myriad Realms System, the time between each world varies, and is based on the principle that a year in the Mortal Realm equals a day in the Immortal Realm."
With that in mind, he reopened his System Interface, wishing to determine how long he'd be unconscious in the Main World using the conversion ratios instilled in his head.
[Name: Yang Kai (Jin Stratus)]
[Identity: Holder of the Myriad Realms Gate]
[Bound Talent: Against-Heaven's Understanding]
[Realm: Martial Apprentice, 1st Layer (None)]
[Current Status: Consciousness Descended]
[Remaining Residence Time: 30 years]
[Descent: Not Ready - 8 Main World Months Remaining until next recharge (Consciousness only)]
"In this world, a 1st Layer Martial Apprentice is at the very bottom of the cultivation hierarchy," said Jin. "And if brought out into the real world, it won't even compare to a 1st Rank Level 1 Evolver of a Basic Evolutionary Path."
In Huaxia, there were four major realms of cultivation:
1- Martial Apprentice
2- Martial Master
3- Martial Grandmaster
4- Martial Saint
And each of these four realms was further split up into seven minor stages called Layers.
"A 3rd Layer Martial Apprentice is roughly the equivalent of the 1st Level of the 1st Rank in the Main World," Jin surmised. "And though I'm unsure how capable a Martial Grandmaster and above is because of this body's limited status, I can be sure that a 7th Layer Martial Master like the Yang Sect Leader is no stronger than a 1st Rank 4th Level Evolver."
Memories of the Sect Leader of the Yang Sect destroying a building with a secret technique filtered through Jin's mind. This was what gave him the notion that the peak Martial Master Realm was equal to a 1st Rank 4th Level Evolver, as the latter could similarly do the same thing.
Just then, an annoying voice carried through the breezy courtyard.
"Well, would you look at who it is! The infamous trash Yang Kai!"
