Tobias
With the sun's radiance this morning. I can only hope for the best. I am definitely hoping for a really good day. I haven't had those lately and I can only blame my myself. If only I had kept the plan to myself. If only my father wasn't so up my ass about this overthrow of the Thorntons from the academy. Lately it feels like more of his plan than mine and it is pissing me the hell off.
So yeah, pretty sarcastic for a vampire to feel ecstatic about the sun but here I am riding on its energy.
As I drive into the parking lot, the first unusual thing I notice is someone parked in my spot.
Too much for a wish
A shiny red Chevrolet is parked in my spot. Everyone knows not to park there. Someone might be really trying me this morning. Fuck the hysterics of the sun and a good day because I just got cranky. Most of the spots are already taken so I have to park my car at the end and that makes me even angrier.
I don't know a lot of people who drive Chevrolets in Havenwood but this person is definitely going to receive full mode cranky Tobias and I am not going to be sorry.
I take a deep breath when I kill the engine. I just had one wish. Turns out it was too much to ask.
I only nod to the good mornings I get from the students on my way to the office too angry to answer.
"Who the heck is parked in my spot?" I ask aggravated as soon as I reach the secretary desk.
My secretary, Lena who also happens to be my cousin jumps at the outburst before she throws me a glare. At least she is early for work today.
"Hello. Good morning to you too." she glares harder.
I wouldn't care. How is she even my secretary when I hate her. Well, it all happened when my uncle Levi asked me for a favor. Of course you don't say no to family most especially if that family has had your father and your back for so long.
Sometimes Lena makes me wish I didn't love and respect uncle Levi. This girl would be out of my office a long time ago. She's always late, sloppy and slow. Don't get me started on her clumsiness and how she messes up my things. Did I mention she calls me Frigid? Who the hell nicknames their boss? The only thread she's hanging on is that she's my cousin.
"Whose. Car. Is. Parked. In. My. Spot?" I ask agitated to care about etiquette.
"Mine."
Both Lena and I turn to the voice.
Shock registers on my face immediately. I can tell that voice even in my sleep. My eyes just needed to confirm with my brain. This must be some sort of wild dream. What is she doing here? Isn't she supposed to be in New York, Los Angeles or whatever? Suddenly my shock turns into anger.
"You?"
"I was going to tell you if only you had asked nicely."
I ignore Lena's annoying voice, eyes still on the last person I expected to be in Havenwood let alone this academy. She is the one who parked in my spot. I don't know if she did it on my purpose to anger me or she still doesn't respect boundaries. Either way, I need her stupid Chevy out of my parking spot.
"Get your car out of my parking spot." I order. She stares unaffected.
"Or what?"
What!
The universe must be trying me this morning because I am one second away from going suicidal and I don't mean mine. I narrow my gaze to her unfazed one.
She looks different. I am going to attribute that to her now shoulder length light brown curls. Her long light brown curls are long gone. Either way, it looks perfect on her. The only thing that hasn't changed is her scent. That wolfish scent that always drove me into a brink of insanity. I realise now that it still does. Scaredy little wolf.
She's gotten more confident, I will give it to her. I don't know if that should scare me.
"I didn't come this way to fight with you over a parking spot. I..."
"Save it! I don't want to hear it." I cut her off pissed before I walk away.
"Don't blame me if the next time your see your little car is in some bloke's scrap yard." I add creating as much space as I can from her.
When I think she has backed off, the tapping of her heels onto the floor tells me she's not very far behind.
"You never stopped being an asshole."
That halts my steps. I turn back to find her inches behind me her perfume wafting into my nose. Vanilla with a mix of raspberry. Some things never change I guess.
"I was wondering how much has changed since I was away but I guess some things never changed." she mutters mockingly.
"Let me tell..."
"No. Let me tell you something Tobias." she cuts me off.
The audacity!
Plus was that my name that just rolled off her lips. I massage my temples irritated. Everyone at the academy calls me Mr. Spektor just like my father of course save for that little vampirina Lena.
Her, she walks into my territory and she calls me by my name. Who the hell does she think she is?
"Are we going to have issues here because as long as we are working together, you better not have this attitude."
Did I hear that right?
My brain must be playing tricks on me because she didn't not just say what I think I heard. I am sure a frown is wedged between my brows.
"Yes, you heard me. I am taking over my father's place at the board." Her glare pierces my darkened gaze.
I have let this go for far too long. She thinks because Eric Thornton has a seat on the board gives her a right to waltz in here like she owns the place.
I am the one who has managed to keep this place in control. Her father did no shit and now she shows up out of nowhere to claim power. I have really had enough of the Thorntons. Dealing with their drama drains me. Good thing the
seat she thinks she has won't be hers for too long and does the thought make me smirk.
