The beginning of her end

When He Mei entered the villa where she and Gu Zhan's family lived, the smile on her face froze. A confused expression appeared on her face when she saw Su Ruowan chatting happily with her mother-in-law and sisters-in-law. She was confused because she didn't remember her best friend being so close to her husband's family.

On the other hand, when Su Ruowan and the ladies of the Gu family saw that Gu Zhan and He Mei were back, they walked towards Gu Zhan with a smile. Su Ruowan held Gu Zhan's arm and asked, "Brother Gu, is it done?"

Gu Zhan looked at Su Ruowan gently and kissed her on forehead, "It's all thanks to you, Wan Wan."

He Mei was shocked to witness the scene in front of her. She looked at the two people in so much shock that her eyes were about to pop out of her eye pockets. When her brain finally registered what was going on, she immediately went forward and tried to pull Gu Zhan away from Su Ruowan.

"Wan Wan, what are you doing?" she exclaimed while pulling Gu Zhan.

Su Ruowan smiled while Gu Zhan showed a look of disgust when He Mei touched him before pushing He Mei forcefully.

He Mei could not endure the force of the man and ended up falling on the ground. Her almond-shaped eyes filled up with tears as she had hit her elbow on the floor. However, nobody helped her up. They were just looking at her as she made a fool of herself.

"Wan Wan, what do you want to eat? Aunty will make it for you," Madam Gu ignored He Mei and spoke to Su Ruowan gently.

Su Ruowan didn't stand on ceremony and said, "Auntie, what are you saying! As a junior, I'm supposed to work. How can you work when I'm here?"

He Mei still couldn't understand what was happening. She looked at her mother-in-law curiously and asked, "Mom, what's going on?"

Madam Gu looked at He Mei and her expression changed, "Do you still not understand bitch? What a useless piece of trash!"

Madam Gu cursed as she spoke. She then ignored He Mei again and said to Gu Zhan, "Zhan, take Wan Wan to your room and rest. Both of you must be tired."

Gu Zhan nodded and held Su Ruowan's hand. The couple then walked to the master bedroom which was Gu Zhan and He Mei's room until now.

"Gu Zhan, wait! What are you doing? Su Ruowan, what's going on?" He Mei got up from the floor hastily wanting to chase after Gu Zhan and Su Ruowan.

However, before He Mei could move forward, her hair was held by Madam Gu who pulled her back harshly, "Where are you going, you useless thing?"

He Mei felt like her scalp was about to tear apart. "Mom, what are you doing? Leave me!"

"Leave you? For what? So that you can disturb my son and his fiancé and prevent them from giving me a grandson? Do I look like a fool?" Madam Gu's fat face twisted with viciousness as she cursed He Mei, "You are a hen who cannot lay eggs. Do you want my family to perish without a successor? You shameless woman! If I were you, I'd be so ashamed I'd bang my head against the wall and die…Why did the Gu family marry such a jinx who can't even give birth!"

Madam Gu's words were as unpleasant as they could be.

When He Mei heard all this, tears started flowing from her eyes. She understood what was going on but her heart refused to believe it. Her best friend was in her room with her husband. Obviously, she knew what it meant. However, she didn't want to believe it. How did everything change so fast? Just a few minutes ago, she was so happy with her husband. She thought that they had rekindled their love. What went wrong and when? Where did she judge wrongly?

The maids in the villa gathered in the living room, watching the show. He Mei looked around and saw that there was nobody in the house whom she could rely on. The maids and the servants all were changed by Madam Gu at some point of time. Since she wanted to be on good terms with her mother-in-law, He Mei had not resisted. Thus, at this point of time, nobody came to help the fallen heiress.

He Mei took a deep breath and got herself released from Madam Gu's clutches. She ran towards the master bedroom to talk to Gu Zhan. Madam Gu wanted to pull her back again but Gu Jianfei stopped her.

"Mother, let that bitch go!"

Gu Jianfei knew what was going on in the room and wanted He Mei to witness it herself. She wanted to bring this lowly heiress down since a long time. She wanted to break her.

He Mei ran towards the room and was about to push the door open but stopped midway.
