You cannot afford this dress

"Hey! Don't you dare touch that dress, it's mine!"

He Mei turned her head around and saw three women entering the store. These three women had thick make-up on their faces which made them look like clowns. He Mei held back her laughter as she didn't want to make these three musketeers, especially their leader, to be more pissed than they already were.

But it also didn't mean that she would let them have their way. If it was the old He Mei, maybe she would have given in. But now? No way! She had already realized that she had just one life and she had to live it on her terms. She wasn't going to be bullied by anyone.

"Yours? But it doesn't have your name on it." He Mei said as if stating just a matter-of-fact.

The leader of the three musketeers knitted her brows in anger. This was the first time that anyone had spoken to her in this tone. 'Does this b*tch know who I am? And if she knows, isn't she stupid to pick a fight with me?' she wondered.

"Do you even know who I am?" The leader asked He Mei in an indifferent tone.

He Mei just shrugged her shoulders, "I don't, but I do have an idea of what you are..."

He Mei paused and the look in her eyes changed. The leader felt a shiver run down her spine as she looked into He Mei's eyes. But she still chose to ignore it.

"You're a bratty b*tchy clown," As He Mei finished her sentence, the face of the leader turned red because of anger and she looked even uglier than she already was.

"You...!" The leader glared at He Mei but He Mei was unfazed by her anger.

He Mei ignored the leader and turned to the manager who had been watching them all this time. "How much for this dress?" She asked calmly.

"I believe you cannot afford this, miss," The manager looked at He Mei in disdain. As He Mei was dressed casually, the manager thought that she was an ordinary person.

He Mei's face darkened on hearing the manager's words and seeing the disdain in her eyes. But before He Mei could speak, the manager walked to that ugly clown leader's direction, "Miss Lin Yaoyao, we are glad that you have taken a fancy to this dress." This ugly clown leader, Lin Yaoyao, shot He Mei a smirk telling He Mei that there was nothing she could do. If she, Lin Yaoyao, wanted something, she would get it.

He Mei scoffed before voicing out sternly, "Stop. The dress is mine."

The manager looked pissed at He Mei's interruption. Why was this woman poking her nose in this matter again and again? What if Miss Lin changed her mind and decided to not buy the dress anymore? Wouldn't she lose a big incentive?

Thinking of this, the manager took a deep breath to control her anger and said to He Mei, "Miss, please, you really won't be able to afford the dress so just look for something else. In fact, you should look for what you want in another store with cheaper prices. The dresses here are much more expensive than you think."

He Mei didn't blame the manager for assuming that she came from an ordinary family who couldn't afford expensive stuff. She was aware that very few people knew about her identity as the only heiress of the He Corporation.

Su Ruowan who was watching the scene felt a surge of happiness in her heart. She had always liked it when anyone looked down on the unknown heiress. She liked people insulting and embarrassing He Mei in public.

Since she couldn't resist speaking, Su Ruowan said, "He Mei, let's go to another shop. You won't be able to afford any of this dress anyway. Besides, it's too flashy for your father's birthday."

For all the years that Su Ruowan had known He Mei, she knew that He Mei didn't bring a lot of money with her. She would only bring money that was enough for her and Su Ruowan.

He Mei's mouth twitched in annoyance on hearing Su Ruowan's words. As always, she knew that Su Ruowan was trying to undermine her in front of others. She had done this in her previous life too. But when asked, Su Ruowan advised her that she should keep a low-profile. However, now that she knew the truth about Su Ruowan, He Mei retorted immediately, "Huh? What do you mean that I cannot afford this dress? Who do you think I am? You're my friend and yet you say that to me? You know which family I belong to, right?"

Su Ruowan was shocked to hear He Mei's tone. He Mei had never talked back to her like this. She would always listen to her, but what changed this time? Su Ruowan was confused by He Mei's actions.
