CHAPTER 56

c56: Luya's Plan! Goten's Master?

After watching the departure of Universe 6's team, the arena finally returned to a more relaxed and cheerful atmosphere.

"Buu! You're awake!!" On the other side, Mr. Satan ran over joyfully, circling around Majin Buu with excitement.

Fat Buu stretched his arms and smiled brightly: "Yeah! That nap felt amazing! It's just too bad I couldn't help Mr. Satan win the tournament."

Satan waved dismissively, laughing heartily: "No worries! We won anyway!"

Buu nodded cheerfully, content.

At this moment, Monaka timidly walked over, his posture stiff as always.

As soon as Mr. Satan spotted him, his heart skipped a beat. He had heard with his own ears Beerus declare that Monaka was stronger than Goku a warrior even Lord Beerus claimed was Universe 7's trump card! If that was true no, even if it was a lie being associated with him would boost Satan's reputation to unimaginable levels.

The undisputed world champion!

The more Satan thought about it, the more the plan made sense. With stars in his eyes, he rushed over, pulled Monaka aside with a big grin, and said warmly, "You're Monaka, right? I'm Mr. Satan! Earth's strongest man!"

Monaka blinked, visibly startled. He wasn't sure why this strange man was introducing himself so confidently. But when he heard "Earth's strongest" and recalled that Son Goku, who could destroy planets, was also from Earth—he awkwardly nodded, "Uh... yeah. I'm Monaka."

Trying to stay composed, Satan smiled earnestly and said, "I have a proposal. How'd you like to become my official spokesperson? Imagine it: Earth's strongest team!"

Monaka froze, baffled. Then he quickly waved his hands: "No, thank you. I already have a job…"

Satan blinked in confusion but quickly regrouped. "But the pay's really good! You'll be treated like a king!"

Monaka paused, but then remembered the incredible bonus Beerus had promised him earlier and shook his head again: "I don't really need money right now."

Mr. Satan was visibly distressed. He had no backup plan.

Just then, Goku suddenly came bounding over, grinning like a kid. "Hey! There you are, Monaka!" he cheered and grabbed Monaka's arm eagerly. "Let's fight! You didn't get to show your moves in the tournament! I'm dying to know what you can do!"

Monaka's face turned pale. Just the thought of exchanging blows with someone like Goku made his knees buckle. He instantly tried to pull away.

But Goku wouldn't let go, gripping him tighter with excited eyes. "C'mon, just one round!"

At that moment, Beerus spotted the commotion. His expression shifted to sheer panic, and he appeared behind Goku in a blink.

SLAP!

"OWWW!" Goku cried. "Lord Beerus, what was that for?!"

Beerus was fuming. "IDIOT! I told you to stay away from Monaka!"

His yell echoed through the stadium, drawing everyone's attention. Those aware of Monaka's true identity suddenly stiffened and crept closer to intervene.

"But I just wanna spar with him!" Goku said innocently.

Beerus was sweating bullets now, clearly flustered. If Goku found out Monaka was a complete amateur, the whole Universe 7 cover story would fall apart.

"I said NO!" Beerus barked again.

Goku tilted his head, confused. "Why not? What's the problem?"

Beerus paused, thinking fast. Then he bluffed: "Monaka hasn't finished... uh... spiritual unification training yet. When the Grand Zeno showed up earlier, it interrupted his state of focus. He's not at full strength right now!"

Goku blinked. "Spiritual what now?"

Beerus nodded seriously. "You wouldn't want to fight Monaka when he's not in peak condition, right? That wouldn't be fair."

At the end, Beerus felt more and more confident in his lie. Straightening his back, he now delivered it as if it were an absolute truth.

As the old saying goes: "To protect a lie, you must shield it with an even better one."

That's exactly how Beerus felt right now digging himself deeper into this Monaka charade.

Goku pondered it seriously for a moment, then nodded. "Yeah… that makes a lot of sense!"

"Right?! Exactly!!" Beerus jumped at the opportunity, vigorously nodding.

Everyone else was dumbfounded. Goku was truly a single-celled creature when it came to common sense.

Even Luya, who had grown used to Goku's innocent way of thinking, couldn't help but laugh out loud at the absurdity.

"But Lord Beerus… when can I fight Monaka?" Goku asked, a bit disappointed.

"Er…" Beerus thought quickly. If he let Goku fixate on Monaka again, it would all fall apart. So he clapped his hands and said, "Let's do this. Once Monaka finishes… ahem, his meditation training, I'll arrange a sparring match between the two of you! But until then, no pestering him, got it?!"

Hearing this, Goku beamed. "Okay! I'll wait for your signal, Lord Beerus! Haha!"

Beerus let out a long breath. Just dealing with Goku made him forget he was a God of Destruction.

"Hoho…" Whis chuckled softly at his side. "Lord Beerus, you're beginning to look less and less like a Destroyer God. Your emotional swings have become rather large lately."

Beerus growled quietly, "Tch! What choice do I have?! That Saiyan's impossible to manage!"

Whis leaned in, still smiling slyly. "So… when exactly are you planning to let Monaka and Goku spar?"

Beerus's face twitched. He paused for half a second, then muttered, "Let's deal with that… sometime later."

Just then, Luya walked up with a serious expression.

He looked directly at Goku and said politely, "Goku, I have a small favor to ask."

Goku blinked, then smiled brightly. "Eh? Go ahead! You helped us a ton back there without you, Earth might've lost everything in the Universe Tournament!"

Everyone around nodded in agreement. Even though Goku had gone all-out, if Luya hadn't stepped in with his unexpected technique and strategy, Universe 7 might've lost.

Luya smiled gently and then said, "Well, it's like this… I don't really have a home base. So I was wondering can I become your son Goten's teacher? I'd like to guide him in martial arts for a while."

"What?!" The response came not just from Goku, but from nearly everyone nearby. The request was surprising, especially coming from someone as powerful and mysterious as Luya.

Goku scratched his head. "Why though? Why do you want to teach Goten?"

Luya chuckled. "I consider myself your friend now, right? But I've been thinking I need a way to integrate more into life on Earth. If I just keep hovering on the sidelines, I'll start fading into the background. Besides…" He paused. "While teaching Goten, I also hope to learn a bit more from you."

Goku's eyes sparkled. What a great idea! Luya's power was absurd—even if he hadn't shown his full strength yet. Training alongside him would be the perfect excuse to spar more often!

But just as Goku was about to agree

"NO!! I DO NOT AGREE!!!"

A furious voice exploded from the sidelines, and Chichi stormed in like a thunderstorm, eyes blazing with fury.

"I don't care who you are! Goten is still a student! He has homework, entrance exams, and a future outside of fighting! He can't be running off to do martial arts all day! It's bad enough he has you for a father!!" she shrieked, pointing accusingly at Goku.

Goku flinched and gave an awkward smile. "Heh… Chichi, well, uh"

"Don't 'Chichi' me!" she snapped. "I'm putting my foot down! No matter what you say, I won't agree to this!"

Goku: "…"

Luya: "…"

Everyone else: "…"

Even Beerus quietly took a few steps back, whispering to Whis, "This woman might be stronger than a God of Destruction when she's angry…"
