Chapter 121: Uncomfortable

He shoved her into the car without giving her a chance to resist.

Tang Qingli stayed behind to retrieve Gu Lili's vehicle, while Long Yubei drove her home.

Fuming with rage, he glanced over to find Gu Lili fast asleep, breathing evenly.

Once home, he carried her upstairs and tossed her into the bathroom. Without warning, he turned on the showerhead and sprayed her face, waking her up with a shock of cold water.

Her bleary eyes fluttered open. Seeing him, her mind sobered slightly.

She said nothing.

"Out gallivanting at bars with strangers in the middle of the night—so this is what it means to be the Young Madam of the Long family?"

"That's right. This is who I am. What of it?!" She pushed herself off the floor and glared at him. "This is me—so what?!"

Long Yubei's expression remained ice-cold. "So now you're proud of it?"

Gu Lili didn't wish to argue further. Sopping wet, she turned to leave, only for him to seize her arm with force. "Did I say you could go?"

She yanked herself free, meeting his gaze with a chilling stare. "Did I say you could control me?!"

His temper flared. She had come home late, drunk, and unruly—and now she dared to be self-righteous?

"Take a shower," he snapped, releasing her as he strode out, slamming the bathroom door behind him.

She stood frozen, her nose tingling with a sudden ache. Unbidden, tears streamed down her face.

What enraged her more than Gu Xichen's broken engagement was this man's deceit.

She cried as she bathed. When she emerged in a robe, the room was empty.

Gu Lili blow-dried her hair and changed into a soft nightdress from the dressing room.

As she returned, he entered with a tray in hand. "Eat something."

"I'm not hungry."

Long Yubei sensed something was off—her entire demeanor tonight was wrong. It was as if she couldn't bear to look at him. What had he done?

She climbed into bed and turned away from him.

He set the tray down and climbed in beside her, turning her around gently. His voice softened. "I called you countless times and you never picked up. It's late, and you didn't come home. You drank, played cards with men—and when I scold you, you act like I wronged you?"

"Do you even know why I went there?" She stared at him. "Long Yubei, what am I to you? Am I your wife? Do you truly see me as your wife?"

He frowned in confusion. "Isn't that what you are?"

"Then let me ask you—why did you keep something so important from me?"

He looked completely at a loss. "What important thing did I hide from you?"

Seeing that he had no intention of coming clean, Gu Lili no longer wanted to speak. "I'm tired. Move."

"Tell me clearly—what did I hide from you?!"

She snapped, "Forget it. If you won't admit it, then let it rot inside you. May it eat you alive. You think I don't know just because you won't say it aloud? If you didn't want it known, you shouldn't have done it in the first place!"

Long Yubei was completely baffled. "But I truly don't believe I've kept any big secrets from you..."

"Of course not," she sneered. "To you, it's just a trivial matter. You never planned for a future with me. You always intended to divorce me someday. It was my own foolishness to dream of a life with you."

"If you've got something to say, say it. I honestly don't understand what you're implying."

The frustration tightened in her chest. She had hoped he would confess, but his utterly clueless demeanor made her heart ache even more.

Antonio's words echoed in her mind—the scene of that little girl calling him "Daddy."

Her eyes reddened. She threw off the covers, grabbed her bag, and made to leave—only to be pulled into his arms.

"Can't we just talk about this calmly? Where are you going?"
