Volume 1 Chapter 14 Third Ring of the Spirit Chang Lin

"Suy Li!" Tang Hao shouted and rushed toward her.

He wasn't fast enough — Suy Li turned her head and saw a beast: a two-winged butterfly, massive in size — nearly three meters wide.

Seeing the huge creature fly straight at her, she couldn't dodge in time.

"Third Spirit Skill of the Gorilla — Gorilla Stomp!" shouted Bo Lin.

With a powerful stomp, the butterfly was slammed into the ground. It flailed, trying to escape from the shockwave's force.

"First Spirit Skill — Lion's Roar!" shouted Liu Yao.

"First Spirit Skill — Pursuing Vines!" Tang Hao followed up right after.

Two spirit attacks collided with the beast in an instant. A massive explosion shook the forest, leaving behind a crater — but the butterfly was nowhere to be seen.

Suddenly, from above, the creature dove at Lu Hin at terrifying speed!

"Tsk, that beast is smarter than it looks! Students, don't let it touch Lu Hin!" Bo Lin ordered.

"Got it!" — they all answered and rushed toward her.

"Hah! Now it's my turn!" Hao Bu grinned. "Spirit Skill — Breath of the Great Dragon!"

He released a scorching column of fire toward the butterfly, engulfing it completely in flames.

Seeing the creature burn, Hao Bu smirked with satisfaction… until it suddenly lunged at him from the right!

With its massive jaw wide open, the butterfly tried to swallow him whole. Hao Bu quickly grabbed the beast's upper jaw, holding it back.

"AAAH! Guys, maybe… help me out?!" he screamed.

The others dashed to his side. Tang Hao pulled out his poisoned needles and sprinted forward.

"Liu Yao! Launch me!" he shouted.

"Got it!" Liu Yao nodded, throwing Tang Hao into the air like a javelin.

Midair, Tang Hao hurled the needles directly at the butterfly's eyes. The creature let out a furious, shrieking roar, blinded by pain. It thrashed about wildly before crashing to the ground.

Thanks to the paralyzing venom, it didn't die — but it couldn't move anymore either.

"Well done, everyone!" Bo Lin praised. "You handled that perfectly."

The students, however, all gave him a deadly glare.

Bo Lin chuckled awkwardly. "Ah… sorry! Sorry! The Headmaster told me not to interfere unless your lives were truly in danger. An

yway— Chan Lin, go ahead and absorb the ring."

Just as Chan Lin was about to absorb the ring, someone suddenly called out to him.

An elderly woman's voice rang out:

"That spirit ring doesn't belong to you."

Turning around, Bo Lin and the students saw an old woman standing nearby, with a young girl by her side.

"Lady Yu? Is that you?" Bo Lin asked.

"You know me?" she replied.

"How could I not? Your husband is an Archmage of the 89th level, almost a demi-god."

"So you know my husband… And you—Bo Lin. In the past, you killed more than thirty mages from the Temple of the Light God. They used to call you the 'Unbreakable Gorilla.'"

"Oh come now," Bo Lin said, raising his hands. "I gave up that title long ago."

"Really? What a shame…" Yu Ha muttered. Then, eyeing them all carefully, she added:

"You've captured my granddaughter's spirit beast."

"Your beast? Lady Yu, forgive me, but in the Beast Forest, there is no 'mine' or 'yours'. Whoever kills it first — it's theirs."

"Hmph, bold of you to say," she snorted.

Bo Lin turned to Chan Lin, then looked back at Yu Ha.

"Lady Yu, perhaps we settle this with a sparring match?"

Yu Ha raised an eyebrow.

"Against whom? That boy over there? Hm… he seems to be on the same level as my granddaughter…"

After thinking for a moment, she nodded.

"Fine. I agree."

"Excellent!" Bo Lin smiled. "Since my student is a food-type mage, I'll send someone else. Is that acceptable?"

Yu Ha gave Chan Lin a surprised look.

"A food-type mage? How old is he to already be at the intermediate level? …Very well. Choose another."

"Thank you, Lady Yu. Tang Hao — step forward."

"Yes, teacher."

Tang Hao stepped forward and stood silently.

Yu Ha turned to the girl beside her.

"Granddaughter, if you win, the beast is yours."

"Yes, Grandma."

Stepping forward, the girl introduced herself:

"Yu Ha. Attack-type mage, Level 30."

Tang Hao added:

"Tang Hao. Control-type mage, Level 29."

Both of them summoned their spirits.

Yu Ha wielded a spear, while Tang Hao's hand was wrapped in a glowing, blue vine.

"Blue Heavenly Vine? Ha! This will be easy," Yu Ha laughed mockingly.

But the elder Yu thought to herself:

"Blue Heavenly Vine… but this boy is no joke. To nearly reach the intermediate level at his age… My granddaughter is at least two years older than him and just barely hit intermediate. And yet this boy is already catching up… Where do such geniuses even come fr

om?"

"Yu Ha, brace yourself. I'm coming!" Tang Hao shouted.
