Liyun walked back to his courtyard.
At the entrance, he saw a ring lying on the table.
He didn't act up but casually put it on his index finger.
'Hmm?' he felt a special energy all of a sudden.
While walking to his bed in a casual way, he inspected the special power that seemed to connect to his body and absorb his energy.
'Is this… it seems I can stop the power?' Liyun asked himself and felt that the golden light hidden deep inside of himself could actively reject the ring's absorption as long as he wanted.
He waited and inspected deeper while laying down on his bed, seemingly about to sleep.
'So… is this ring really absorbing all the spiritual power emitted by me passively? And my golden power, it should be my core… they said I'm a Fortune Spirit, right?
Let me see what ability I have then…'
He ignored the absorbing power of the ring for now.
Anyways, he had a guess about this long ago and didn't need to focus too much to understand.
Isn't it just the typical heirloom that contained a spirit, slowly absorbing his power and making him a useless person?
Rather than this, he was more curious about his own ability.
He felt into his spirit and inner being and gradually understood his ability.
'So, I am a Guiding Fortune Spirit? My being is based on the law of guiding fortune to those promising ones?
Isn't this basically the power to make someone a protagonist all of a sudden?
Well it seems I can't delegate them the heavenly fortune but the earthly fortune instead.
Heavenly fortune is talent while earthly fortune is Land and Opportunity.
In the world of cultivation, there are four things one needs to succeed: Opportunity, Dharma, Land and People.
Opportunity refers to the gifts of earth, such as finding a treasure in a pile of dirt, walking into a forest with nothing and leaving it with bags full of spiritual plants, and so on.
Dharma refers to the inheritance of cultivation. This is a matter of the Civilisation Fortune. Every species that can create a civilisation has this… some call it Human fortune, others Beast Fortune, and so on.
Land refers to the land on which one cultivates. The land has to have spiritual power to cultivate, else, no matter how hard you cultivate, how good your inheritance is, you won't get far.
Land is also controlled by the Earth, even more so than Opportunity. After all, you can also get other kinds of opportunities, but Land itself is fully controlled by Earth.
Lastly, there is People. Based on the name, one might think it's also ruled by the Civilisation Fortune, but in fact, People is controlled by Heaven.
If you find the person that is fated with you, it's heaven's mercy. If heaven punishes you, then you will never be fated to this.
In addition to beloved ones, Heaven also decides in which family you are born, which people you met, and so on.
Decided is a strong word… rather than that, it's better to say that if you have a lot of heavenly fortune, then you will always meet the person fated to you, everyone close to you will have good feelings for you, a random wandering cultivator will suddenly feel that they have fortune with you…
And if you don't have it, then even if your fated one is right in front of you, you will be blind to it.
Regardless of how I look at it though, it feels like Heavenly Fortune is very cruel.
After all, Opportunity is chance, if you are lucky you get it, if not then not. Being lucky is not the base line, instead, it's like getting a bonus – you don't expect it but just hope for it.
On the other hand, Land is a bit beyond the power of single people.
No matter what, you respect the land you stand on. Natural disasters and such are out of your control. Maybe you can influence it a bit, but it's not to the point where you can control it.
Even I only seem to have the power to guide Fortune but I can't cause misfortune.
That is to say, if I see that a specific place might benefit the Earth a lot, I can guide the fortune from other places to that place.
It won't rob anything of the other places, but if one looks at the example of spiritual veins, then one can understand that without the Earthly Fortune of Land, the spiritual roots simply won't grow.
But if there is Earthly Fortune, then even if they are exhausted, they will grow all the way to the sky!
As for my power of Opportunity… it seem weird.
I can absorb the power of fortune from gifts of earth and then either feed this fortune to any gift of earth I wish, to make it grow better, or I can push the Earthly Fortune to other people and make them find gifts of earth based on how much I gave them.
It seems I even have the ability to take the earthly fortune from people themselves by giving them things they wouldn't have gotten usually.
But this feels unfair – can't I just sell them one thing and while they pay me, I still take their fortune?
Well, it's not fully unfair. Some people can't get things even if they pay, and there should be a rule on how much I can get based on different situations.
But in total, it feels like I'm an official of earth, doesn't it?
Partially I am an investor, like a person who buys real estate in a certain city because I think the prices will rise in the future.
On the other hand, I am also a gardener or farmer with supernatural abilities of taking the energy of one crop to another.
Finally, I am a trader, a middleman, who buys things and sells them at a higher price, profiting from the difference. Only, the difference here is Earthly Fortune.
I just wonder, do I also get to use Earthly Fortune?
Maybe this is a stupid question… after all, the first ability I awakened allows me to directly see earthly fortune!'
