Chapter 12: Hunt Report

The first day of the hunt made one thing clear: none of the three were there by chance. Agust, with his power; Liana, with her mastery of nature; and Ares, with a skill that kept growing. But what came next would test not just their abilities… but their perseverance.

Day 2

Liana was the first to adapt to the wolflys' patterns. She used the forest's flora to create traps that slowed the creatures, allowing her to take them down with precision. Her nature magic shimmered among the trees, as if the forest itself protected her.

Day 3

Ares chose to move alone, distancing himself from the group to explore deeper areas. Though he encountered smaller packs, his direct style and ability to analyze attack patterns allowed him to face multiple enemies at once. He wasn't the fastest hunter, but his consistency was admirable.

Day 4

Agust, frustrated by the lack of wolflys, began to lose patience. His ice magic was powerful, yes—but it required preparation time and precision. His large-scale attacks caused collateral damage, sometimes scaring off packs before he could hunt them properly.

Day 5

Liana found an abandoned nest and focused on studying their behavior. Her traps became more effective, and she even began coordinating ambushes using wild animals. Ares, meanwhile, improved his synchronization between enhancement magic and physical combat. Agust… didn't speak to anyone.

Day 6

The tension between Ares and Agust was growing. Although Ares tried a couple of times to team up with him, the prince completely ignored him. He wasn't angry at Ares per se—but at the fact that surpassing him wasn't as easy as he'd expected.

Day 7

The final day brought a well-earned rest. The three returned to the meeting point to await Trébol, who would record the results.

"Alright, let's see how many wolflys each of you managed to take down," said the professor, jotting notes with his magical quill.

A tense silence followed.

"Liana… 45.

Ares… 32.

Agust… 23."

The prince immediately frowned.

"That makes no sense. I have more power than them!"

"Having power doesn't always mean knowing how to use it," Trébol replied without even looking up. "Don't forget that, prince."

Agust clenched his jaw, humiliated.

Ares just smiled humbly—though deep down, he felt a flicker of pride.

Thus ended the first hunt.

And with it came the first level-ups…
