The dragon moved backwards a bit and flapped its large, massive wings forward.
The instant it did that, a huge gust of wind burst out, sweeping the Skeleton Monsters off their feet.
They fell with clatters, their bones shattering into pieces like fragile eggs.
Drahon even doubted if the description about them was accurate. That they were fast? Perhaps the reason it seemed easy was because they were on their dragons. He considered that a main factor, as when they weren't, they lost three players instantly to the monsters.
The monsters were surely dead with their bones broken, but now, eight more remained.
Drahon was about to use another skill when the Demon Dragon rider flew over to him again.
Drahon was startled for a second when he saw him.
"Want to try a combo?" the boy asked.
"What does a combo mean?" Drahon asked.
Meanwhile, the other players were still fighting the remaining Skeleton Monsters.
"You voice out your skill and I voice mine," the boy explained. "We do that simultaneously, and at the end of it, one of us says COMBO!"
Drahon smiled. Seemed he had just made a friend.
"Let's do it!" Drahon said excitedly.
The boy grinned, and facing the eight now desperately bizarre monsters, he said to Drahon:
"Never tried this before, but there's a first for everything, heh?"
Drahon smiled.
"Indeed."
The other players noticed they were talking instead of fighting and were about to say something when they saw all the Skeleton Monsters abandon their current fights and now focus on Drahon and the Demon Rider.
The Demon Dragon rider grinned, facing the eight desperately bizarre monsters coming at him and Drahon.
His voice rang out with confidence:
"Abyssal Flare!"
Drahon responded instantly:
"Blazing Wingbeat!"
In a single moment, both dragons unleashed their wrath.
Roarn flapped his massive wings with ferocity, sending a burning shockwave that ignited the battlefield. Simultaneously, the Demon Dragon exhaled a stream of dark fire, shadow-wrapped and howling, sweeping toward the monsters.
"COMBO!!" the Demon Dragon boy roared.
The two attacks collided—flame and void-like fire merging midair into a hellish spiral of destruction.
The dark and yellow flames intertwined into a weird kind of color they had never seen before.
The flame came with a shockwave, and as it slammed into the remaining Skeleton Monsters, their bones cracked. The once-white skeletons now turned to ash.
It looked like a cosmic explosion because the entire place was taken aback by it.
The sky lit up in fire and shadow, like the flames had just had an explosive wedding.
Exchanging glances with Drahon, the Demon Dragon rider looked more intently at him and then raised his hand for a high five.
Drahon smiled and took it, high-fiving the player.
But it seemed weird. The player who looked evil-prone was giving him a handshake and, technically, they were friends now.
Drahon couldn't believe his eyes. Perhaps the boy wasn't so dark. Maybe because he had a Demon Dragon, Drahon had thought he would be a loner or unfriendly.
The player was good-looking though. He was tall and lean, clothed in layered grey armor, minimal but sleek, covering his shoulders, arms, and chest, leaving room for movement. Beneath the armor, he wore a fitted black combat robe-like clothing with silver trims. His hair was ash-white, tousled and medium-length, falling just above his eyes. His eyes were pale crimson, and he had the look of someone who didn't seem to care.
He wore black gloves, armored boots, and a dark grey belt with utility pouches. A faint black rune tattoo ran along the left side of his neck, and as Drahon squinted, he could see it resembled that of a dragon.
The other players looked at the duo and were impressed. Some even clapped.
Looking at the Demon Dragon player's appearance, Drahon wondered if he had changed clothing when he entered the game, something he (shockingly) hadn't noticed all this while.
The main reason he didn't notice was because there was no mirror, and the clothing was very light, not something he'd feel if a transformation occurred without his knowing.
Squinting, Drahon saw his reflection in the eyes of the dragon, although it was vague, he at least saw what he was wearing.
But then, his clothing was plain and not like anything he expected.
He was still clothed in the top and trousers he wore before entering the portal that led to the game.
Wanting to start wondering why, he heard a loud voice. Well, not only him—everyone did.
[You all have just killed 21 Skeleton Monsters!]
[Three Players died from the process {Again, don't bother so much about that} ]
[Outstanding Players are Player Devon and Player Drahon]
Drahon threw a quick glance at the Demon Dragon rider, so his name was Devon.
[Congratulations! Players]
[Frost Monsters Remaining: 199]
[Skeleton Monsters Remaining: 229]
[Monsters in Total Remaining: 428]
[Good luck, players]
Drahon furrowed an eyebrow. The Frost Monsters, earlier at 250, were now at 199. Seemed the other players were doing a good job with the Frost Monsters, or were they just simple?
And when the system announced the death of the players, it still went on to add: 'Again, don't bother so much about that'.
'Vague as fuck!'
All the players pondered for a few seconds before looking at invisible things in front of them.
Drahon was at first confused but realized it was just their systems. They were probably getting upgrades in stats, skills, and possibly tiers. It all depended on their performance.
He had wanted to summon his system when he immediately saw this in front of him, in runes:
[You have just defeated Skeleton Monsters using a combo]
[You have just made a friend!]
[You have just awakened a weapon: Tier SSS Sword!]
Drahon couldn't believe his ears. Wasn't there supposed to be some struggle for him to reach the SSS Tier? He seemed to be getting everything easily.
Coming into the game, he had awakened the highest-ranked dragon, the highest tier, and now an SSS-ranked sword.
Drahon was happy nonetheless. He didn't quite like his former sword. It was weak. A sword that went by the name of 'Rusted Iron Sword' and was still ranked Tier F was simply not it.
Now, with an SSS Rank sword, he surely would do wonders with it.
