You have just awakened your Second Dragon!

Drahon made an involuntary twitch as he stared at the words, his face recoiling into a startled expression.

So he had been right? This barbarian guy wasn't an NPC but something more than that.

He paused just about to leave the door, looking at the players who were now gaining distance away from the cottage.

Drahon needed a lie and fast. This game meant survival, and it wasn't all about friendship. If he was to say anything about the new words he saw on the paper, they would be jealous, and perhaps a fight would sprout out, and they would want to take the egg before he did or steal it from him, bonding with the dragon.

Devon wouldn't mind though, he was sure of that. If he was to find a dragon in the egg, then he would be the first player in the skeleton monsters region, perhaps the entire game, to bond with two dragons.

He lingered on the spot, thinking of what next, his mind swimming in the ocean of thoughts as he pondered.

Finally…, he managed to say:

"I think I found a really large meat."

The players looked at him, slightly surprised.

Drahon tried to sound as natural as he could:

"It's really large and seems to be roasted. I saw it under the table, a sec lemme go get it."

Without even waiting for their response, he went inside as calmly as possible and then added:

"So as not to delay you guys, you can go on, I'll be at your back in a sec."

Devon furrowed a brow and shrugged.

"Definitely weird but…, okay?"

Drahon shut the door and quickly scurried to where the shelves were. He counted nine, a detail he earlier didn't notice.

He went to a window and looked through it, wanting to be sure that none of the players were secretly spying to see what he was up to.

For a second there, he felt like a villain, like he was about to rob a bank. But then, he was trying to do good here, only secretly.

No player was watching him, and he felt relieved. He could see their figures far off, and he decided he had to be quick with whatever he was about to do so as to catch up.

He went to the fourth shelf and opened it.

Placed by the middle was an egg the size of a watermelon.

This was a feature Drahon noticed way too well. The egg he found back at the orphanage had been round and the size of a watermelon. Same with the eggs of the other students he saw back at the hall.

The eggs seemed to carry an uncanny resemblance to each other.

All the eggs had been white in colour, but this was almost grey, intriguing Drahon the more.

He didn't know what ought to be done for the egg to crack, and so he simply placed his hands on it, waiting and hoping that something would happen.

Suddenly, he felt a magnetic sensation that whittled through his fingers and then crawled through him.

Drahon, by impulse, wanted to let go of the egg, but it wouldn't happen, it was stuck already.

And just when he thought it would get any worse, a gust of insane wind thrust him backwards, making him hit his back hard against the wall.

Drahon felt a pang of pain. At that moment, it felt really painful, but a second later, it was gone. He heard a cracking sound, and when he looked at the egg, it was cracking rapidly, the surface peeling off.

And then, a large dragon plunged out of it.

The dragon towered like one of those dragons you'd see in medieval war movies, its body cloaked in thick, jagged scales the color of burned iron and weathered bronze. Battle scars ran along its flanks, and two horns jutted from its skull, looking like something that was capable of nodding one straight to the moon.

Its wings were torn in places, leathery and massive, stretched like old war banners over bone-thick spines.

Along its back, rugged ridges rose like the spines of a mountain beast, and its tail ended in a heavy, mace-like knot of bone.

Its eyes glowed with cuteness and also menace.

Drahon was almost horrified with what he was seeing. It wasn't that he was afraid of the dragon harming him, but just…, surprise.

The lady in the hall had listed all the dragons they were to bond with, but she hadn't listed anything like this.

Or was this an SSS-ranked Bronzer Dragon? It almost looked like one.

Perhaps the ones the lady listed and explained were just the ones that were ranked and recognized by the game?

Drahon still had to do his research though.

Suddenly, runes appeared in front of him, and he saw:
