Ch.5 - Apology Isn’t Enough .

Kate caught up with Aaron:

Kate: "Aaron, wait..."

Aaron responds angrily:"What do you want now?! Are you happy with what happened?! Is this what you were planning?!"

Then he walked toward his room, but Kate followed him, trying to justify her actions. He opened the door and Kate entered behind him

Kate: "Aaron, I didn't mean for all of this to happen. I just wanted to..."

Aaron, with angry voice : "You didn't mean to? From the very first day, you've been trying to annoy me, playing all these silly pranks! You really don't think about the consequences!"

Aaron took a deep breath before he collapse on the chair, looking like he had reached his breaking point.

Aaron, in a very calm voice: "Okay, I've had enough of this. Give me the stone back now, okay ? If you're really sorry, you need to admit what you've done."

But at that moment,

Aaron heard a muffled sob, so he quickly turned around and found Kate crying bitterly.

Aaron, in surprise: "What... what? Why are you crying now?"

Kate, crying: "I... I didn't mean it , I just wanted to... annoy you. I didn't think it was that important, but... but I'm sorry, I lost the stone!" She was gasping between every word she spoke.

Aaron, angrily: "What?! You lost the stone?!

Kate, was this also part of your plan?!"

If it was, enough! Please, stop!"

But Kate continued crying, her eyes full of tears, and she was trembling from the stress.

Aaron, thinking to himself in shock: "Is she serious? Did she really lose the gem, or is this one of her tricks?!"

Aaron, angrily:" That's it I can't do it anymore I'm not ready for this! This is more than I can handle!"

Then Aaron grabbed hir arm and pulled her out of his room, his eyes full of anger.

Kate tried to stop him desperately: "Please, Aaron, I swear...!"

Aaron, very annoyed, with furrowed brows: "If you want to cry, do it away from my room! I've lost my patience and stop bothering me"

Then he slammed the door shut.

In the hallway, Amber was waiting for Kate, and when she saw her coming, she lowered her head.

Amber, surprised: "Kate, you're crying. What happened?"

Kate, with a huskily voice : "He didn't believe that I lost it. He didn't even accept my apology."

Amber stood beside her and patted her shoulder: "It's okay, Kate. I'll help you looking for it. Let's go together."

Kate and Amber went searching for the stone everywhere.and Aaron watched them as they wandered around the mansion here and there, muttering: "Is she serious?" He ran his hand through his hair, then ignored them and went to have dinner.

Aaron sat at the dinner table.

Margaret: "Aaron. I prepared the main dish tonight."

Aaron: "Thank you, ma'am, for the food. It looks delicious."

Margaret then spoke to the maid: "Where are Kate and Amber? Why are they late?"

Vivi: "Ma'am, I don't think they will eat with us."

Margaret: "Oh my God,, girls these days! Vivi, take their dinner to their room."

The night had begun to cover the sky, and the garden looked very quiet. Only the moonlight shone between the trees, and the faint light from the street lamps illuminated the path. Kate and Amber were searching, their eyes sharp, looking for any clue that might lead them to the missing gem. Their hands brushed against the grass and leaves in a desperate attempt to find the precious stone.

Amber sighed, worried: "Kate, do you think it could be here? We've searched almost everywhere in the house."

Kate, in a low voice: "I can't believe that I lost it. It must be here somewhere. We have to find it before it's gets worse."

Kate felt her anxiety growing, her mind racing. She couldn't imagine the consequences if her father found out what she had done—and that she was the one who lost it.

Kate thought about where it might have fallen: "I think we should search near the balcony. Maybe it fell there."

Amber, hesitating: "But, Kate... it's dark now. How can we see anything clearly?"

But Kate insisted: "I won't lose hope now. I'll keep searching until we find it. I promise , I'll find it!"

A sound of footsteps approached from behind. Aaron, with clear voice : "I see you're searching for the gem desperately. what are you trying to prove ?"

Kate: "I'm sorry, I know I made a mistake, but I promise you I'll fix it."

Aaron, sharply: "Do you think your apology will fix the problem?"

Kate felt the weight of Aaron's words, but she didn't respond. She was the one who got him into this mess, even though she was nervous and worried, all she could think of now was finding the gem.

Kate turned toward Aaron and walked firmly towards him: "Aaron, I promise I'll find it. I'll keep looking for it until dawn, and I won't stop until I find it. And if I don't find it... I'll tell my father that I lost it."

Aaron, angrily: "You think you'll find it now?! The night has fallen. Do you really think you can find it?"

Kate, raising her voice: "I told you I'll take responsibility."

Then she turned away from him: "Come on, Amber. Let's keep searching."

Amber watched in silence , but she felt a little tense. Still, she knew that Kate wouldn't back down easily.

Amber, before following Kate: "Aaron, don't try to stop her. If she says she'll find the stone, she will find it."

Aaron looked at her, questioning: "Do you really think she cares about it?"

Amber looked back where Kate was searching behind the bushes: "Yes, don't you see what's she doing. She's looking for it honestly. moreover this is the only way to fix what happened."

Aaron sighed deeply and then said loudly: "Wait a bit, I'll go with you."

Kate, surprised: "What? What do you mean? You're going with us?"

Aaron replied determinedly: "Yes, I'll go with you. I think if all three of us search together, we'll find it faster. And I don't want to see this issue drag on any longer."

The two girls smiled silently, feeling a bit more at ease, but there was no time to think, and they had to focus on finding the jewel.
