After James’s outburst, Rebecca pretended to pull him back, feigning concern. “James, don’t be like this. I’m sure Emma didn’t mean to have her parents come and attack me.”
The more she provoked him, the more enraged James became.
He grabbed my hair, and just as he was about to strike me again, a hand caught his wrist in mid-air.
Mike shoved him away, his face dark with anger. “Are you insane? Can't you see your wife is seriously injured?”
Fuming, James was about to sneer that I was putting on another act, but his gaze fixed on my flat stomach.
He froze on the spot. A few seconds later, he suddenly bolted into the hospital room, frantically looking around.
Mike helped me up. I watched his frantic movements with a blank expression, a sarcastic sneer twisting my lips. “Don't bother looking. The baby is dead.”
