Emotions

We finally caught up and spent the next couple of hours walking in silence, until the afternoon air started to get a chill. Sirus helped me set up the bed roll he packed for me and put up the half tent to provide me some protection from the elements while Shauna started setting up a fire to start cooking.

I walked over checking out what she was putting in the pot. "Hope its not rabbit again?" Shauna looked up with a smile on her face. "No, no cute bunnies' this time Sirus never went hunting on our trek here so its just a hearty vegetable soup for tonight's supper". she said throwing in what looks like roughly chopped purple carrots. I went back over and sat down on the bed roll and pulled the small blanket up over my legs. "Um guys?" "Yes" they answered in unison. "I don't know if you feel things differently being that your also half animals but I cant see this tiny blanket keeping me very warm". They both burst out laughing, did I miss the punch line?.

"Sirus is sleeping with you Roza". Shauna said to me walking over to where I sit. "The bloody hell he will, I'm not sleeping with a man for any reason. "Who said anything about sleeping with a man". Sirus smirked at his comment clearly amused. "Wait what are you guys talking about". Sirus rubbed his eyes "We are in a forest we cant pack every little thing you need to feel comfortable so I'm shape shifting and you can cuddle up with my fox form and keep warm that way, I can also use my fairy magic to amplify my body's heat for you if your still to cold. I didn't want to cause any trouble its not much different then me sleeping with the kittens right? Just they don't transform into men. I pushed it out of my mind and decided to ask about the inhabitance of this world so I could learn, Shauna got right into it she was telling me that as she is a doenix she has the power to connect feel and communicate with all the trees and plants she has a connection to life being a woodland creature. She explained how there mother was the fox sprite and there father the doenix when two different creatures mix there are no new creations you only get what you are, your children will either be one or the other but its completely at random.

dinner was finally ready, Shauna gave me a big bowl to eat that I was grateful for. We had been walking all day all I have had to eat was the meal we had before we left, Shauna said before that Sirus went hunting for awhile to get some meat for her so she can dry it out and we can eat jerky as a snack while we are moving.

By the time we had finished our food Sirus was back and with more bunnies, guess I have to start getting used to eating the cute furry little guys. Shauna squealed and grabbed them and ran off to prepare them I guess, she really loves cooking.

"Are you ready?" Sirus asked me "for what?" "Bed what else that hunt took it out of me I'm tired", his eyes started closing and he started falling towards me, I went to go catch him before he collided with me but in front of my eyes sparks started coming from his body everything moved so slowly. I put my arms out as a puff of white and pink smoke erupted and a foxes body landed in my arms.

His body curled up he raised his head large fluffy ears that looked to big for his head his piecing green emerald eyes fiercely looking into my eyes letting me know that it was still him and I wasn't holding a beast that was about to rip me apart. But that isn't what shocked me I expected a fox what I didn't expect was the green fairy wings on his back, I went to softly touch one but Sirus twitched looking at me before the wings vanished and he put his head back down in my lap and closed his eyes.

"He wont like you if you play with his wings". Shauna said giggling to herself, she had changed back into her deer form must be warmer being like that and found a spot to lay next to the fire, I laid down bringing Sirus up with me I laid him down next to me and cuddled him into my chest. He was right as weird as this is I can barely feel the cold, it really is just like sleeping with the kittens at home. A tear rolling down my face remembering the kittens I left behind, I know that if I went missing or anything Stella would take them food and make sure there alright but there all alone now.

Sirus must have noticed something was wrong he lifted his head to look at me slightly tilting his head as to ask me what's wrong. I ran my fingers through his soft orange fur, "Back home I didn't have much just like right now, my very existence wasn't wanted I was left on the streets as a baby. That's when people came and housed me with people to basically pretend to be my family, I was treated horribly. when I turned 16 even they didn't want me anymore and they put me back on to the streets not wanting to pay money for me anymore, I found a shed Stella and me cleaned it up and found a box of kittens that where just like me. Abandoned no one to love them or look after them so I took them in they where my family, and being here with you like this has just reminded me how much I miss them, I know with me not there Stella will take good care of them but still there all I had you know." I looked down at Sirus who looked deep in thought noticed me looking at him, his face turned sad and he dug his face into my neck and we fell asleep like that.

"Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh yeah, what happened to 'I'll never sleep with a man for any reason'" Shauna walked passed us yelling waking me up using air quotations to enhance the words I spoke yesterday, I quickly looked around not understanding what she was on. I look down to see a full man version of Sirus who was still asleep head resting on my chest where he fell asleep as a fox last night.

ARRRGGGHHHHH I screamed and threw Sirus off of me whos head hit the ground with a thud.

"Ow what the hells going on are we under attack "Sirus asked rubbing his head "Only if your under attack by the princess warrior over there" Shauna pointed over to where I was standing in shock. "How you where a fox, you said you would stay a fox while sleeping with me". I yelled at him.

"From my knowledge there's only two ways to do a transformation either the host turns or you met your soul mate" Shauna said walking over punching me in the arm with a wink.

"Shauna she isn't even of this world don't go filling her head with stories that aren't true you will only confuse her". He retorted back while taking down the tent and rolling up the bed roll.

"There not stories Sirus our parents where mated for each other you know thi..". " And look what happened to them that is enough it doesn't exist anymore not since that day". Sirus cut her off before Shauna could finish.

"Your right sorry Sirus, Roza don't worry about what I just said he is right they are just stories now". That's all that was said before we started moving again.

Though I still wondered why he had transformed back if he didn't do it but I wasn't going to question it as it seems to be a touchy subject.

We had been trekking through the dense, forest for hours again, the canopy of leaves above us a constant reminder of the world that lay beyond our immediate path. The air grew cooler and the shadows longer as the sun dipped low in the western sky, signaling the end of another weary day on the road. Their destination, the bustling town of Lustria, Shauna had told me earlier today loomed closer with every step, I just wish we could already be there my feet hurt so bad from all this walking.

We finally emerged from the forest's embrace, the cobblestone streets of Lustria stretched out before them, lined with quaint, wooden buildings adorned with colorful banners that fluttered in the gentle evening breeze. The town was alive with activity, merchants peddling their wares, children playing tag around the town square, and the clanking of armor as guards patrolled the perimeter, ensuring the safety of the townsfolk.

Oddly it just resembled an ordinary town, given a few major differences like flying animals or the fact that everyone here isn't a human but other then that I'm pretty sure I must have died and was reincarnated this has to be the strangest thing any human has ever seen.

Shuna, ever the pragmatic one, suggested that we split up to cover more ground. She dashed off towards the market to restock their depleted food supplies while Sirus took my hand and guided me to a cozy-looking tavern. The "Gilded Unicorn" I read out loud reading the sign as Sirus opened the door all the amazing smells filled my nose.

Inside, the tavern was bustling with locals and travelers alike, all sharing tales of their journeys and downing mugs of frothy drinks. The worker, a burly man with a thick beard and a jovial smile, greeted them heartily. Sirus requested one room with two beds for the night, explaining that Shuna would join them shortly. The man nodded, wiping his hands on his apron before handing over a set of heavy brass keys. "Room six, just up the stairs, can't miss 'em," he said with a wink. I slunk behind Sirus getting a uneasy feeling about how the man is looking at me. I can see behind the counter a snakes body coiled up when he lifted his apron to wipe his hands I could see that the snakes body was the workers he must be a snake I'm not messing with that.

We went up to check out the room it was small but clean, with a bed each side of the room and a small table that could double as a desk. I flopped onto one of the beds, the softness of the mattress a stark contrast to the hard ground I've been sleeping on. Sirus, ever the diligent guardian, checked the locks and the windows before sitting down beside her. "We'll get you warm clothes tomorrow," she said gently. "But for now, let's eat.".

I nodded, feeling a sudden surge of exhaustion wash over me. The journey had been arduous, but the promise of warmth and a good meal was more than enough to keep my spirits high. We descended the creaky stairs and found a table near the hearth, where the warmth of the crackling fire could ease the chill in my human bones. The tavern was alive with the sound of music and laughter, and the aroma of the stew grew more tantalizing with every passing minute.

A plump, cheerful waitress flew over her wings look like a fairy wings, her arms laden with two steaming bowls and a loaf of crusty bread. She set the food down with a flourish and offered a knowing smile. "Ain't nothin' like a good meal after a hard day's travel," she said. My stomach growled in agreement, and I dove into the hearty stew with gusto. The rich flavors of beef, carrots, and potatoes melded together in a symphony of comfort that filled me to the brim, I keep telling myself now that all meat is just beef so I don't think about bunnies and put myself off eating each time.

Sirus, not one to skip a beat, ordered a pint of the tavern's finest drink for me to try. I took a sip and closed my eyes, savoring the taste. It had been a while since I have had anything but water on this trip. "This is heavenly," I murmured. Sirus giggled, knowing what I meant.

Our conversation grew quieter as the evening deepened Shauna had joined us ages ago and the tavern filled with more patrons seeking refuge from the cool night. The warmth of the fire and the delicious food worked their magic, and soon my eyelids grew heavy. Sirus noticed and gently placed a hand on my shoulder. "Why don't you get some rest?" he suggested. "I think that is a good idea". I said rubbing my eyes.

Sirus handed me the room key telling me they will be up soon, I made my way up the stairs and into the room I went to the bathroom to use the toilet I really needed to pee, that's when I seen they had a bath. so before going to bed I decided to run a hot bath and let my body soak.

I raided the cupboards unable to read anything to know what it is, I poured some liquids in my hands and ran it under water to see how it reacted when I found one that bubbles up I poured it into the bath and started running the hot water. I grabbed a towel put it on the sink and jumped in the bath, the water instantly soothing every sore inch of my body.

I must have been in the hot water for quite some time as when I got out and wrapped the towel around myself, my head instantly started spinning and down I went. I hit the floor full force just as I was struggling to maintain consciousness the bathroom door flew open. Sirus come through the door eyes wide fear screaming from behind them, why is he so scared? I seen him hit the floor to scoop my body up as I passed out.

"Roza! stay awake". "Sirus what happened to her?". "I don't know Shauna help her!!".
