Elyse knew the memory gardens were dying.
Too many people forgot themselves again.
She worked alone, restitching songs into the soil. But it wasn't enough.
So she chose to give her own name—temporarily—to feed the garden.
And forgot who she was.
The world wavered. The flowers screamed.
Liss appeared just in time. She knelt beside Elyse.
"Come back."
"Who are you?" Elyse asked.
Liss smiled.
"I'm the one you healed when she forgot her name."
Elyse blinked.
Laughed.
"Oh. Right."
And memory bloomed again.
