At Mairwen Orphanage silence moved in a rhythm. The snoring of slumbering children, creaking of the winds, the silent steps of caretakers, patrolling to ensure no children were night walking. It was like the manor was breathing.
Head pressed against the floor, Seren hears a particularly harsh wheezing noise coming from the room beneath hers. That was Mrs. Mairwen and the signal she had been waiting for.
She slides towards the window in one fluid motion, moving carefully as to not wake the creaking boards beneath her feet. Her hand wanders, one grasping the window sill, the other reaches for her coat and hat, swiftly adorning them in an exaggerated motion.
This was her routine.
Every week, she snuck out in the same fashion, just to get away from the hustle of the orphanage. To clear her head and mind of all her worries. Out there, she wasn't a weak and scared orphan burdened with knowledge of the future far too accurate than she wished it was.
Before leaving she glances at herself in the mirror. Her reflection gazes back, long blue hair, large mismatched eyes, one amber, one turquoise.
She appeared much to strange in every sense of the word.
Suddenly her frame elongates. Her muscles stretch and squeak as they begin to grow. Her eyes narrow into a glare. Her hair, now dyed crow black, shortens.
"Yare Yare Dare." she mutters to herself dryly.
.
The moon hung low tonight, It's pale silver glow mingled with the late night fog colouring the town a dull grey. walking down the cobbled streets of thistledown Seren hums to herself softly, a strange look if you consider her current appearance as Jotaro Kujo.
But the disguise gave her comfort. It was like a warding charm for people with bad intentions.
The sound of a second pair of footsteps, just a note off makes Seren's mind take a pause. Someone else was on walk around this time. How strange.
As with the nature of a weekly routine Seren was very familiar with the path she was taking. Walk straight until you see the demiurge statue, turn left past the pub, turn right at the magical candy store.
Seren took a temporary pause to gaze into the wand store. The exterior was crude and unremarkable. A large sign reading "Winter's Wands" hangs above the door sways lightly in the wind. The attached wind chime left perpetually screaming a soft tune.
Seren peers through its singular window curiously. The floor is dusty covered in various magical artifacts. boxes full of wands are stacked until they reach the celling looking as if they might fall over at any moment.
A desk sits located under a rustic chandelier, in contrast to the rest of the store it's meticulously organized. A singular book sits centered parallel to a strange green ball.
If Seren were to be honest she would say that she was disappointed. She was going to get her wand from this place tomorrow and she would greatly appreciate someone less abnormal.
"Maybe the skill of the wandmaker is linked to how eccentric they are." Seren murmurs quietly.
.
continuing on her path Seren notices something unusual.
The streets were too quiet.
Seren pulls her coat tight around her frame, ducking into a nearby alley to hide from the morning Yellow. The sun was beginning to rise, pulling the shadows long and dyeing the world in vibrant hues. She had made this walk many times before but never had she returned past night. How could she have lost track of time? That was simply impossible.
A prickling sensation gnawed at her back, screaming at her that something was wrong.
And she listened. Quickening her pace and wandering deeper into the alley.
A soft drip from a pipe hanging slightly askew, a cat meowed from somewhere just out of sight. But beneath that, the soft drumming of footsteps not too far away.
Seren adjusts her gait. slowing her pace to glance in a passing puddle, not at her own reflection. but at the shimmering Spector of movement behind her.
Her heartbeat began to climb rapidly, heat rippling through her palms. She didn't have her wand nor any other method to protect herself. Her metamorphmagus abilities were purely supportive and Seren hadn't trained in any type of martial arts in this life and her previous.
She quickly maneuvers into a nearby side alley and stances up by the wall. Waiting.
1, 2, 3, 4, 5.
She sees a man turn the corner and hastily unloads her first onto him. He collapses in one hit.
"I guess Jotaro really is just built like that."
The sensation of a hand on her shoulder causes her to freeze.
"Your not as clever as you think, little man."
A grating voice sounded behind her.
Seren spun around wresting the hand from her shoulder. Despite her inside turmoil her face remained impassive, she stares blindly ahead in spite of the dire circumstance that she finds herself in.
Faking a facade of confidence Seren quickly fires back a response, trying to delay enough time for her to run away.
"Because your just so much better huh."
Taking notice of Seren's cautious appearance the man responds.
"Don't run." he says. "I don't want to hurt you." though his smile says otherwise.
She takes a step back attempting to retreat to safety. He steps froward grabbing her wrist with a vice like grip before firing a sharp jab to her chest.
Slamming her hard into the brick wall beside her, Seren doubles over in pain, a burning sensation shoots through her ribs.
He winds his fist back, preparing to release yet another devastating blow.
At his moment, with her heart hammering, breath stuck, Seren doesn't think.
Instead she calls out with all her might.
"STAR PLATINUM!"
In a blinding flash of violet a fist erupts through her fist like a cannon.
"OOORRRRAAA!"
