Chapter 2

The kingdom Hav'al one of the few human settlements in the world housed about seventy percent of the human population, it's a kingdom flourishing in all it's greatness. The land was fertile, they were abundant rainfall, the weather was nice there, in short they lived it the most fertile land on earth.

The humans were known as the once loved by the goddess or as the other races commonly call them "the fav's" . The humans were mostly peaceful with a few exceptions of course..They hastened to make peace with the other races.

The humans one of the seven great races,lived freely under the rule of their king.

Arthur the sixteenth. He was a benevolent ruler and loved peace. He was given the title deal maker, as he had the uncanny ability to make impossible deals and bring about profitable negotiations to the kingdom.He had already made peace with four of the six great races during his time, a feat no other king had been able to accomplish during their life time. He was loved by the people and those of the other races, he treated all equally and dealt harsh punishment when necessary, cause that's the duty of a king.

Arthur sat lazily in his chair looking at the pile of paper work on his once magnificent desk that hads been ruined by workload. He groaned long and hard.

Do I really have to do all this today? He asked his knight and personal assistant.

His knight a blond, blue eyed man in his late twenties stood his eyes cold but not menacing, he had something in him that made people feel at ease. He was tall and had the muscles of an experienced fighter, in the brightly lit room he seems to shine even brighter, in his sliver armour that only covered a small part of his chest, gauntlets that were as small as gloves and a big silver boot to match, His name was Flynn.He stood there looking at the king in his arms another batch of paper work were at the ready.He went over to the king and despatched the rest of the paper work on the desk,the king looked at him in horror.

The work piled up while you were cutting corners on it for about a month, he said, his voice was even and melodious, Arthur thought he was an angel that was mistakenly made a human.

Come on! Arthur said trying to shift some of the paper away cause it seems they were about to fall on him.I didn't skip that much work. I was only gone for like a month he said .

A month....a month you said..do you know how many people are in the kingdom, do you know how many approvals you have to give to things going on around, and what about the other races that you made friendly relations with, they need resources from us and it's not like they don't pay..you skipped work for a month and you're calling it "only" I was up to my neck with work while you were gone and I'm not even king, Flynn said growing slightly irritated.

Oh my, Arthur said feigning surprise, I've never seen you get angry about work before,what changed he grinned, are you finally getting home sick.

That's not the point here you majesty, I mean you to reflect your actions and how your negligence can affect the kingdom, Flynn said seriously. Don't go skipping off on a rendezvous with your wife and son for a month, if you miss them so much you could always bring them to the capital.

I was already thinking about that..but you know how Lizzy is, she doesn't want the lad to grow up in a boring atmosphere, but I bet she'll give in eventually, she always do, Arthur said immersing himself with thoughts of Lizzy.

Well what ever that's a matter for another day, now start filling all this files cause they're due this week, I'll let you fill all the important ones today and after you've brought your wife and kid to the capital you can complete the rest,Flynn said from concentration and arranging the files according to the once he thought were of immediate importance and another thing I think you ought to increase my salary cause as of late I've been doing works outside my jurisdiction.He picked one set of paper from the pile, here, he said, these are from the Giants of the north.They requested building a road connecting our two kingdoms saying it'll be much easier to travel that way cause as you know the northern terrains are rough and even the Giants have a hard time traveling in them.

The Giants uh? Arthur said in thought.. how's Graf doing, it's been so long since I last heard from hi_

He's now married, Flynn interrupted putting down the files about the Giants and picking up another, he has a family now and lots of work on his plate, as you know bringing civilization to the Giants is no small feat. He picked up another file, these are from the dragons of Guava, he said looking at the pile in disgust, he has been requesting the presence of Lizzy non stop for the past year ,blasted doting father, Flynn cursed clearly irritated.

I think Lizzy knows that her father wants to see her, after all their mind link is strong, but she doesn't want to see him and at the very least she doesn't want the lad anywhere near the dragon kingdom, she's afraid that they'll flay the lad.But I think her worries are for naught, Arthur said scratching his head.

Well I'll be damned, Arthur continued, I've been here for a week and the work hasn't lessened at all, well there's no use helping it, pass on the first batch of the paper I need to finish on time,I promised Lizzy I'll be home by nightfall and knowing her she won't sleep till I'm there.

I think the only once that need immediate response and approval are from the Giants and a few merchants bringing in goods from the elves, other than that the rest can be shifted by a day or two, Flynn shrugged, do them and I'll turn a blind eye to you escaping again, but only if you promise to be back tomorrow cause if not I'll come get you myself.

Yeah yeah you're a stick in the mud, groaned Arthur picking up the files and examining the contents seriously.

I'm only doing this for Lizzy's sake, I know how her anger is like, tho she's not quick to anger but she hates when promises are broken and by her lover at that. I don't even know what dragons see in promises that make them take it so seriously, Flynn said staring at the sky through the only window in the room, it was orange from the settings sun, I pity you Arthur, he continued, you've already broken your fair share of promises to her and the only reason she hasn't exploded is cause of the lad, she's a good mum I'll give her that, aside from her cooking skills of course, if you break one more I'm sure she'll request duel with you,Flynn laughed at the thought, but yeah Lizzy may do something like that, she's quite simple after all. Also he continued, are you still restricting the lad's contact with the outside world?

Yeah. He's unusual after all, not many would approve of his existence, Arthur said growing serious, it's for his safety, he hasn't even seen any child his age before, he only knows they exist through books he reads, honestly I don't know how to handle him. Who could have thought he'd be both dragon and human same time? I asked Lizzy not to teach him magic for now cause no one knows what kind of power the kid has, it's for the best he stays away from people for now, at the very least he'll see people tomorrow when we comes to the capital. He arranged the files of the Giants he had finished and pushed the one of the dragons in the trash,he quickly signed a few of the merchans documents and piled them up, He got up and stretched, it was almost dark, we'll I'll be off,wish me luck Flynn, Arthur said smiling

Flynn smiled for the first time that day, well have a good time your highness, he said sincerely
