A CALL

DANTE'S POV

I got weapons. I took out all the weapons I won and bought even more. Guns, bombs, sophisticated gadgets, whatever you can think of. I got them all because we will need them for where we are going. We'll need all the weapons we can get and right now, we're all heavily equipped.

I already paid five hundred thousand dollars to each of the men Liam and I found as half of the payment we were supposed to give them, so they can at least help their families in case some of us don't come back alive. I was skeptical at first about these men. How they were willing to risk their lives to help a woman they don't even know.

But I have come to learn, these men have nothing left to lose. They've been abandoned by their families because of their crimes and they just want to make enough money to leave for their families as a legacy. I know they won't disappoint me. I was lucky to find them. Everything is going as planned so far and if things continue to work this way, we'll be finding Adeline real soon and that's what I need right now.

I need to get her out of that hell hole.

"These are some sick weapons man. I'm going to have so much fun with this." Headshot says as he checks out his sniper. Majority of this mission depends on his flawless ability to never miss a target. He'll be our back up.

"I don't need weapons to break a few heads." One of the men, the biggest one says and I have no doubt he could break someone in two if he wanted.

Ginger is talking with Liam passionately, explaining all the tricks and turns of guns since Liam doesn't have a greater experience with them and the two other men are helping me put all the material and weapons in place. To know who is going to use what and what exactly we'll be leaving with.

Once we're done admiring all the weapons, it's time for Adrian to do his part. We all walk into the small room that has now become his cell and surround him from every corner. He still has hat sweet look of fear in his eyes. Well, he better. He should be afraid of us and what we will do to him if he doesn't corporate or if he somehow ruins this plan.

"It's time to talk to Veronica." I say handing Adrian his phone. I was able to get him a new phone and recover his contact number and apparently, he has Veronica's number in his head. I guess he and Veronica must be really close if he has her number saved in that sick head of his. He must have her contact so he can call her in times of need like now.

"No weird words. No stupid phrases that will make her think you're in danger or we will shoot you in the dick here and now, do you understand me?" I say, making myself clear before handing him the phone, He nods and takes the phone with trembling hands. I give him a death stare as he dials the number. I also out some kind of protection on the number so it cannot be tracked back to me.

Everything is set and now, he just needs to make the call.

He dials the number once, twice, three times. No answer.

"Again." I order and he obeys.

He dials the number the fourth time and then a fifth. Veronica only answers after the tenth try. Adrian quickly puts the phone on speaker as he was ordered to and I hear a feminine voice through the speaker almost immediately.

"Adrian? God Adrian, is that you?" She asks.

"Yeah um, Veronica. Sorry I'm only calling you now. I've been in kind of a tight spot." Adrian says. Veronica stays silent for a while before answering him again.

"I heard what happened to your place. I also heard you were robbed. Can you tell me what the fuck is going on with you Adrian?" She asks again, her pitchy and annoying voice leaving the speaker audibly.

"Yeah, I'm so sorry. I had to go into hideout for a while. I had to go undercover. I was just calling to ask if you received the girl." Adrian says.

"Oh yes, and she's just as beautiful as you said she will be. She's going to bring us a lot of money once she starts functioning like a proper erotica girl."

All the blood in my body tenses. Air rushes into my lungs and if I don't calm myself now, I might go on overdrive and start screaming profanities at Veronica for the way she's speaking about my Adeline. At least now we know that she has her.

"Great! That's wonderful. I need us to set a meeting so we can talk about business. We need to plan on how we can use her as an advantage. Like I told you, she's a special one and if you train her properly, she can make us more money than we've ever had." Adrian says but as he speaks, he looks up at us with fear in his eyes.

I can't believe the words coming out of his mouth. I can't believe the things he's saying about Adeline.

"A meeting will be great. She's a difficult one but she has potential. We can meet in two months." My eyes widen. Adrian sighs as I defeated.

"Can't it be sooner?" Adrian asks after I widen my eyes at him. There's no way I'm letting Adeline stay in that place for wo whole months!

"No!" Veronica says harshly. "The higher ups know what happened to you. They think you're compromised and you I don't really have all the power in this place. I'm not allowed to leave until the girls revive their full training. Just keep in touch and I'll let you know when and where we can meet. Two months Adrian."

Veronica's voice resonates from the speaker and I start pacing the room back and forth, fighting the urge to punch something to the ground. The other men look at me with pity in their eyes. I guess this gives us more time to prepare but two fucking months will be too much for Adeline.

I feel so useless right now. My tracker is on right now but it's not doing a really good job in tracking where this number is from. I sit down and type some codes into my computer but nothing. I'm frustrated. I'm angry.

"Okay. Okay that's good. Can you um, make sure that the girl is okay? I want her to look her very best once the training is over. Make sure those guards over there don't put their hands on her." Adrian says.

"Don't worry. She's our price. She'll be trained for our best customers. She's difficult but I have Colton guarding her and he seems to like her a lot. He won't let anyone get near her so you don't have to worry about her getting touched."

Veronica assures Adrian and my heart starts to beat a little bit more normally. I'm still not at ese because there are so many other ways to make her life miserable in that place. But hearing Veronica say Adeline is being difficult leaves a sense of pride in my chest.

That means she's fighting. That means she isn't letting those people walk all over her.

"You know she killed one of our drivers. She shot our doctor too. I would have killed her if you didn't invest in her properly. I have to go now Adrian. I'll keep in touch." Veronica says and hangs up immediately.

Liam looks to me with dread.

"Did you hear what she just said Dante? Adeline killed two people."

"She's fighting back." I say. Although I would have preferred fro Adeline to never have to defend herself by susch means, I'm glad she fought back. I'm glad they haven't been able to break her. I look over at Adrian and grab the phone from him.

"Who's Colton?" I ask Adrian. "Do we need to be worried about him?"

"No. He's been working with us for over two years now. He kidnapes the girls we ask him to and eh brings them to the organization. He owes Veronica some money and he's paying for it with his services. It's either he works for the organization or Veronica takes his sixteen-year-old sister as one of the girls. He doesn't have that much o fa choice but you can trust he won't hurt Adeline. He's just looking out for his sister."

"We can't fucking trust anyone!" I say harshly. "What happens when Veronica asks him to hurt Adeline? You think he'll choose her over his own sister!?"

"I suppose not." Adrian answer with a bow of his head.

"She'll be fine Dante." Liam blurts out. "I know my best friend more than anyone in the world. She's a fighter and she doesn't up. She's strong and resilient. Stronger than any other woman I know. She'll make it Dante. We have to believe that she will, otherwise we have nothing left."
