7: ghost from the past

Raven was waving at Carla who just got into a cab, when a body crashed into her hard, making her lose her footing. She yelped and almost tumbled to the ground when a hand suddenly grabbed her wrist, leaving her hovering in the air for a fleeting moment before she was hurled to her feet like she was as light as paper.

The quick movements left her disoriented for a bit, but she heard the person speaking. "I'm sorry, I didn't see you there."

Raven was about to say that it was alright, but the words died in her throat when her eyes landed on the face of the guy whose hand was still holding her wrist.

It's her husband that left her to die in her past life.

She let out a startled gasp as she shrugged his hand and stepped back, while gaping at him. It was really her husband, his exact face and posture, even the exact way he smelt.

"You fucking betrayal! You really left me to die, huh?!" She yelled, then slapped him hard before she could think twice.

She realized her mistake right after the slap, that he didn't know she was his wife from their past life, cause she looked completely different now.

She silently cussed herself out, while her husband gaped at her.

"You just slapped me! And for what? I don't even know you, the hell?" He cried out, the familiarity of the voice filling Raven with the urge to hit him again, but she forced herself to calm down.

She let out a slow breath and took a closer look at his face, confirming again that it was him. This just proved that her backstabbing husband and sister really died and reincarnated here!

"I- uh, sorry. It's a mix up." She forced those words past her lips, but he still kept regarding her wearily… as he should, cause she'll get revenge on him for betraying her no matter what!

"It's fine… you're lucky you're sexy." He breathed out slowly as he looked her up and down, a teasing drawl settling in his voice, then he was looking her up and down, lust settling in his eyes almost immediately, and disgust filled her chest at once.

"So, I'm Soren, and I wonder if you could give me your number—"

Raven almost let out a laugh of disbelief.

So, he reincarnated as Soren? Could the gods of this universe be any funnier? In this story, Soren is a boy that the villainess also liked, but unlike the four male leads, Soren liked her back, but by then, she had outgrown her likeness for him, so he ended up turning into a villain.

Sha gave him a withering glare before slapping his hand away when he attempted to reach for her hand again.

From the way he was regarding her right now, it was clear he didn't get the original Soren's memories after the reincarnation, else he'd not just want to get to know her, cause Raven and Soren are friends in the story. "No, thanks." She snapped before hurrying past him, anger churning within her as she kept walking.

She wasn't even interested in trying to act pleasant with him, with the hopes of getting him to fully trust her before she gets her revenge on him. She hates him too much to pull that shit.

With this second chance to live, along with this upper hand of her having a different face compared to her backstabbers, she'll get a very satisfying revenge no matter what.

When she arrived home, everyone were gathered in the family's cinema seeing a movie together, and the sight warmed her heart cause they all looked like a happy family, which filled her with more determination that she must save them from the upcoming apocalypse no matter what.

"Hi everyone, I'm home." She greeted cheerfully and they all faced her, taken aback at first, before her father and twin siblings beamed at her.

As expected, her mother left the room almost immediately.

Ouch.

Just like last night, her mother skipped dinner because of her presence, which showed her that the origin villainess must have really hurt her feelings with her words. She planned to hopefully iron things out with her mother tonight, cause without her accepting her back, stocking up with the rest of the family for the apocalypse is undoubtedly gonna be a failure.

Clearly, her arriving home early is still a shock to the family cause they were all still regarding her with shock on their faces, but they'll definitely get used to it in no time cause she's not walking the original villainess' path no matter what.

"Welcome, love. C'mon in!" Her father gushed happily and Raven felt herself smile as she stepped in fully and went to hug her father who squeezed her tightly like he still couldn't believe this was happening.

"I'm so happy you've returned back to me, my child." He murmured into her hair and she felt her heart ache a little, then she was presenting her father with the gift she got for him. It was an ancient, jaded ring and as soon as he tore through the wrappings, his eyes lit up.

"For me?"

She nodded shyly. "I wanted to get a little something for everyone, to properly apologise for my past acts and to try making it up to everyone." She admitted quietly, feeling everyone's eyes on her as she spoke.

"Aw, love…. You didn't have to." Her father sighed before hugging her one more time.

Raven felt like she definitely had to as she crossed the room to her youngest siblings to hand over their gifts, and they hugged her tightly while thanking her. Her younger sister even teared up as she regarded her new set of dolls, and Raven swore that she'll protect Hera at all costs!

After that, she turned around to face her older brothers who were already regarding her wearily. She already knew this one wasn't gonna be as easy as the little siblings, and that she'll have to really mean her apology to them tonight. She had gotten them gifts that she hoped would help in softening their minds towards her.

After a heartbeat, she took in a deep breath before starting to speak.
