Chapter 11

The pyramid trembled before dawn.

Winds howled unnaturally across the desert sky, ripping clouds apart with violet lightning. Clarissa stood on the eastern balcony, her hand resting on her growing belly, eyes squinting at the swirling vortex forming above.

"Something's coming," she whispered.

Zephyr stepped beside her, draped in a silken robe given by Queen Nerisse, ocean runes still glowing faintly on his chest.

"I know," he replied. "I've felt this before. This isn't divine… this is personal."

And then the sky cracked open.

A golden chariot made of flame and starlight crashed from the clouds, exploding into the dunes with thunderous force. The sands surged in waves like an ocean, blasting half the outer wall of the pyramid with divine shock.

From the crater rose a woman—tall, golden-haired, armored in sunmetal, with a crown of broken halos and burning eyes that spoke of fury, longing… and unfinished love.

> "Zephyr!"

The name came not as a call, but as a judgment.

Clarissa's breath caught. Serika gripped her twin blades. Virellia's tail bristled with frostfire.

But Zephyr?

He froze.

"…Lyssandra?"

The woman walked forward slowly, each step melting the sand beneath her feet.

"I searched for you across lifetimes. Across planes," she said, voice trembling with divine rage. "And I find you… building a harem?! With priestesses, sea witches, and monsters? Did you forget who I was?"

Zephyr's heart thundered.

Memories—fragmented and buried—rushed through him.

A past life. A wedding beneath the twin moons. A sword of fire offered in promise.

Her lips. Her vow. Their bond…

He had been married.

To Lyssandra, the Sunblade General of the Skydwellers.

And in death, they were torn apart.

Lyssandra raised her sword — forged from a dying star.

"I've waited centuries for you. Suffered. Slept in the halls of time. And now you don't even remember me?!"

Zephyr stepped forward, bare-chested, hands raised.

"I didn't forget you," he said. "I lost you."

But it wasn't enough.

She attacked.

Blades clashed with shadows as Serika protected Clarissa.

Elandra summoned thornroots to restrain the warrior queen.

Virellia tried freezing the flames, but Lyssandra burned through it all.

She wasn't attacking to kill.

She was attacking to prove.

To be seen. To be remembered. To be loved again.

Zephyr understood.

He stepped into the storm, arms wide.

"Strike me, if that will bring you peace."

Lyssandra paused.

Her sword trembled.

And she dropped it.

She collapsed into his arms, breathing hard, her divine fire dimming.

"I thought… you forgot me," she whispered.

Zephyr kissed her brow. "Even if I did… my heart didn't."

Clarissa stepped forward. "She's one of us now, isn't she?"

Zephyr nodded. "She always was."

The women surrounded her — cautious, respectful. Lyssandra didn't push them away. She merely asked:

> "Do you love him?"

Clarissa: "With my soul."

Serika: "With my scars."

Virellia: "With my cold fire."

Lyssandra smiled softly.

"Then maybe… we can share."

Night fell like velvet over the Pyramid of Ten Desires.

But peace… was an illusion.

The fire in the central sanctum crackled low, burning strange blue embers.

Zephyr sat alone, shirtless, his hand pressed to his chest where Lyssandra's sword had nearly cut his heart earlier that day.

Her arrival had changed everything.

"Five," he muttered.

Clarissa. Serika. Virellia. Nerisse. Lyssandra.

Five bonded queens.

Five different pieces of his soul.

And yet, it wasn't enough to calm the storm rising in his blood.

Clarissa entered silently, her body wrapped in a silk robe, golden hair cascading over her shoulder.

"I can't sleep," she said softly, hand resting on her round belly. "The child… is hearing voices again."

Zephyr stiffened. "What kind of voices?"

Clarissa's eyes darkened. "A woman. Soft. Sweet. Ancient."

> "She says I belong to her.

That you do too.

That no matter how many women you bind… you'll always fall back into her arms.*"

Zephyr clenched his fists.

The Eleventh Queen.

Elsewhere in the pyramid, Lyssandra tossed in her sleep.

In her dream, she stood before a white throne draped in black silk.

A woman sat upon it — face obscured, voice like velvet and poison.

> "He loved you once," she cooed. "But you were just the beginning. I am the final flame. The first wife. The last."

Lyssandra tried to draw her blade — but it melted in her hands.

She fell to her knees as the figure whispered:

> "When the moon bleeds, and the harem reaches ten, I will awaken… through her womb.

And he… will be mine again."

Back in the real world, the sacred pool in the pyramid began to boil.

Serika, meditating nearby, noticed it first — dark petals floating on the surface, the scent of longing and death rising into the air.

She summoned Zephyr immediately.

When he arrived, the pool reflected not their faces — but hers.

The Eleventh Queen.

Face still blurred, lips curved in a chilling smile.

> "Almost there, my love.

Your curse was never punishment.

It was my gift — to bring you back to me."

Zephyr stared, unflinching. "Who are you?"

The pool whispered:

> "I am the Queen you sealed away. The one who bore your first child in the age before time.

Break the tenth bond… and you will awaken me."

The pool shattered into black glass.

Zephyr staggered back as pain ripped through his skull.

> A vision:

— A throne made of bone and roses.

— A woman in a red veil, kissing his hand.

— A child with glowing eyes, calling him "Father."

— A war… a betrayal… a seal.

He collapsed, eyes burning with flame and confusion.

Clarissa rushed to him. "Zephyr! What did you see?"

He whispered one word:

"Her."
