“Kai… I’m scared. You’re pointing a gun at me.”
“Why should you be scared?”
“You’re the one who disappeared.”
—
Ten years ago, River vanished without a word.
One minute, he was Kai’s best friend.
The next, he was gone — and so was his entire family.
No goodbye. No explanation. Just silence.
Now, a decade later, Kai is no longer the boy River left behind.
He’s cold. Ruthless. A billionaire CEO with no room for the past.
Until River walks back into his life — quietly, mysteriously, as the company’s newest secretary.
Kai should fire him.
Kai should forget him.
In a world of power, secrets, and pressure to marry for business…
River’s return may not just reopen old wounds — it may trigger something far more dangerous.
A second chance…
Or a final betrayal.
Very well written. I engaged with the story from the first page. I love the trope friends to enemies to lovers. I can't wait to read the following chapters, the twelve chapters I read were very good and I hope the rest will deliver.
Ughh, I loved the tension and set up of the first few chapters, really draws me in with the whole misunderstanding situation. However, I don’t think I can get into Kai’s character, River is too good for him.
"Intriguing start with complex characters and a gripping narrative. Promising premise, eager to see where the story unfolds."
I may not be fan of this kind of genre but this is well written and logical, making your characters relatable.
